        Obama appointee lauded NAMBLA figure
        By: Mark Tapscott
        Editorial Page Editor
        10/01/09 12:40 PM EDT

Kevin Jennings, President Obama's Assistant Deputy Secretary of the Office of Safe and Drug FreeSchools at the U.S. Department of Education, is in hot water this week for having failed to report that a 15-year-old sophomore student in his school had told him of having sex with an older man.

But failure to report what appeared to be a case of statuatory rape of a child may be the least of Jennings' worries. Lori Roman of Regular Folks United points to statements by Jennings a decade or more ago when he praised Harry Hay of the North American Association for Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA), which promotes the legalization of sexual abuse of young boys by older men.

Roman provides damning details and links here. She also notes that Jennings wrote the forward "to a book called Queering Elementary Education. And another fellow you may have heard of wrote one of the endorsements on the book jacket—Bill Ayers." Ayers, of course, is the Weather Underground bomber from the 1960s who is just an "acquaintance" of Obama.

Every presidential administration ends up with scandals inspired by controversial appointees, but typically those tend to revolve around financial improprieties, conflicts of interest, or some other form of white-collar misconduct. For Obama, the scandals seem to be develping in a pattern of disclosures revolving around radical left ideology that raises questions about their fitness for any job in government.

And that in turn raises the inevitable question: Is nobody minding the White House personnel store?

This was also written by this fabulous Christian, Mark Tapscott of the Washington Examiner or whatever.

Introducing Kevin Jennings – Bringing the homosexual agenda to grades K-12
June 16, 7:56 PM Charleston Conservative Christian Examiner

"Kevin Jennings was appointed last week by President Obama to be Assistant Deputy Secretary of the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools inside the Department of Education. Secretary Jennings is an openly gay writer, teacher, and leader in the fields of K-12 education and civil rights. While many Americans may not be concerned about his homosexuality, we should be very interested in his gay activist past.

After graduating from Harvard in 1985 Jennings “became the faculty advisor to the nation’s first gay-Straight Alliance (GSA)… launching his life on a path dedicated to ensuring schools become places where young people learn to value and respect everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.” In 1990 Jennings founded the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (www.GLSEN.org). Your new “Safe Schools Czar” believes “homophobia and heterosexism undermine a healthy school climate” and he wants to “educate teachers, students and the public at large about the damaging effects these forces have on youth and adults alike.” (All quotes from the GLSEN website www.GLSEN.org of 14 June 2009)

In his new position, Jennings he will be charged with:

          Promoting the health and well being of students in elementary and secondary schools, and institutions of higher education;
          Suggesting policies related to violence and drug prevention;
Advising the Education Secretary on the formulation of comprehensive school health education policy; and
Administering the Department's programs relating to character and civics education.

Given his background and passion for the advancement of homosexual rights throughout our culture this new position will be a perfect platform to cultivate his ideas in the minds of our children. While not a new strategy for the progressive movement, the appointment of a gay activist to such a strategic and well-funded position offers tremendous expansion possibilities for the homosexual agenda (gay marriage, et al). What the majority of voters in California and 41 other states adopted to prevent the legalization of gay marriages and unions may soon be overturned by your children after they are indoctrinated in the public school system.

Parents do you know which village is raising your children?

With Mr. Jennings at the helm, the table is set, mom and dad, for your children to be indoctrinated into a Progressive agenda of homosexual civil rights. If you are not on your guard, everything that you have poured into your children will be watered down and potentially eliminated if the Jennings’ GLSEN agenda permeates the classroom. If the past forty-five years of negatively influencing two generations of young minds is any indication of what federal schooling can accomplish, your children and our society will continue to spiral into moral depravity. What was once considered as an adult sexual deviance just a generation or so ago will soon be an acceptable form of sexual expression to your seventh and eighth grader if the education establishment has their way!

May we all WAKE UP before we lose our children and our country."

Rugger69, you want us to listen to this homophobic good Christian family man. Tapscott probably does when nobody is looking. And Mr. Tapscott, wait until the Progressives approve of Homosexuals, a/k/a people, adopting children left abandoned by their straight parents.

The Washington Examiner is a free daily throwaway paper which is distributed almost exclusively to the affluent white neighborhoods in D.C. It is owned by Philip Anschutz, a known homophobe.

If you'd use more legitimate sources, somebody might listen to your ramblings.

BTW, there is nothing "Debunked" here.

This report could have been given by Robert Gibbs. I wouldn't be surprised if it was written by him, it is so obviously pro-Obama.

2010, can't get here soon enough. Is the GLBT lobby going to have enough money to save the House, and 7-10 senators?

Better hope so, since the GOP is outraising Dems again, and the country has taken a look at Obama and does not like what it sees.

      Here's hopin' for more change.

birdjay, are you using Rove Math again?

When you begin thinking 'outside the tea bag', you will become aware that just because the RightWing Loud machine is spewing nonsense everyday, America isn't listening. Clean the wax out of your ears and listen to the desperation of silliness in each and every R-Talk Show.
It is not desperation concerning America, it is just daily garbage and their job to garner advertisers...If Hannity or Limbaugh really cared they would run for office.

Why can't you believe the truth about this assualt of Jennings? Proof, wait a week, and when this fails, they will select another target.

While in the tea bag, drink up.

This isn't a debunking. You don't need proof of a crime to report suspicions to authorities. Jennings himself said that he handled it wrong. Repeated references to who is behind the attacks serve no purpose--unless Richard Nixon could be excused because Democrats were behind the original complaint.

He may have handled it wrong, but he was 24 at the time.

The debunking is of the phony Fox and Rush stories claiming that Jennings somehow was responsible for this young man's irresponsible sexual tryst and that this wrong decision of a 24 year old gay man was an act of pedophilia as has been indicated by Rush, et al.

Thanks rigger69 for the post. I honestly checked it out and spent over an hour following various links (and sub-links)in the article(s) and this is what I learned, following just what you gave me, and a few dips into Wikipedia.

This is a smear by conservative anti-gay advocates that relies almost exclusively upon guilt-by-association tactics, which if you are anti-gay are unnecessary---Jennings is a gay educator, and that's that. Knock yourself out with fear and loathing for the man.
Most allegations' source links lead to WND and various christian conservative sites that are hardly objective (understandably so)by any standard but I have to respect their personal convictions. But useless as proof of fact.
      For instance,
Harry Hay was never a member of NAMBLA, but praiseworthy as a pioneer of the gay rights activism. It was Hays refusal to repudiate NAMBLA outright was politically toxic, even among his peers. But Jennings admiration is for the history, as a whole, of Hays work as a political activist, just as one might admire our constitution while forgiving it's failure to repudiate slavery.

The Hays/NAMBLA/Ayers connections, as I learned from following provided links, are just usual guilt-by association crap. If my grandfather had known Charles Lindbergh, would that have made him an avid Nazi sympathizer too?

In the end, the conservative media shouldn't get to drive anyone out of the administration just based on his political or social philosophy or agenda, nor for crap that people just make fabricate. Don't you have to wait until they actually screw something up?

In virtually every cooked-up controversy and freakout from the right, which are intended to stoke hysteria in the conservative base I would say that there is nothing to fear but fear itself.

And really.....thanks for the post...I learned a LOT! A little healthy scepticism about what you read, even here at MMfA lends itself to a fulfilling educational experience.

The student was SIXTEEN (not 15) and came to Jenning AFTER he had the sexual tryst. So how the hell is he guilty of ANYTHING?? The legal age in the state is 16 so the kid was deemed capable of making his own sexual choices by the elected state officials.

The right is relentless with these bogus attacks. Would ANY of us stand up to such scrutiny? Besides, Fox no longer even needs evidence. They fire off a "some people say" and they can then spew whatever hate speech they want. It's inexcusable.

First they went after the blacks in the administration (Van Jones) and now they are going after the gays. And let's not forget their open armed welcome of Sotomayor. Don't want Latinos to feel like they are not as hated and resented by Republicans as gays and blacks are.

The bigotry is painfully obvious to anyone with a triple digit IQ. Too bad that leaves so many conservatives in the dark.

Good Summary!!.It is always easier to defame someone that's "different" so gays, immigrants and minorities is the low hanging fruit for smear merchants like these. That Fox refused to condemn Dennis Hastert concerning Mark Foley because there were "no facts" to prove he knew the content of the emails that had been sent to congressional Pages shows the typical hypocrisy of the right!!!!Not even much criticism of Vitter,Ensign or Sanford( None of which have resogned) from the right as compared to Elliot Spitzer who did resign!!!Yet they want Jennings to resign for somthing that "maybe" could have been handled better over 20 years ago!!!
