Like clockwork: Snowe says she'll vote for health bill, Limbaugh attacks Snowe as "predictable joke"

      Olympia Snowe is such a joke that she's been a Senator from Maine for as long as I can remember (I grew up in Maine). And, she has also done more for her homestate than Rush could ever hope to do for say, Missouri.

          Cheney, are you really as thick as your posts indicate? Snowe is a CONSERVATIVE Republican . . . a REAL conservative, not a phony one. Just because you disagree with her doesn't change her political ideology.

          Last time I checked Rushism is NOT a real political ideology.

            - Rated 83% by NARAL
            - Voted NO on prohibiting minors crossing state lines for abortion
            - Voted NO on paying down federal debt by rating programs' effectiveness
            - Voted NO on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage
            - Rated 78% by the HRC, indicating a pro-gay-rights stance
            - Rated 58% by CATO, indicating a mixed record on trade issues.
            - Voted NO on allowing tribal Indians to opt out of federal healthcare
            - No troop surge: no military escalation in Iraq.
            - #2 on Human Events’ list of Top Ten RINOs, Dec 2005

            She's a self-described centrist. She's 100% pro abortion. She votes in line with Dems on social issues. Shall I go on?

        Snowe just voted for the "markup". It passed 14-9. Good for her.

          Sen Chuck Grassley is now on the news, saying that people are going to be forced to buy insurance. Yeah, that's right.

          We're going to force them to buy insurance, just like we force everyone to participate in Social Security. We do that despite the fact that some people could self-insure themselves for retirement or disability, because we can't pre-judge who would actually protect themselves and their families and who would leave themselves vulnerable. We also do it to spread the risk out among everyone. The same holds true for health insurance. We force healthy young people to buy healthcare insurance because we need to spread the cost out among everyone and we need to protect those people from the risks of them needing healthcare.

          Then Sen John Cornyn got in front of the podium saying that this bill will cost us in the long run. Except that it won't - the deficit will be smaller with this bill than it would be without this bill, and the only requirement was that it be deficit-neutral!

          The "predictable joke" here is the kneejerk, thoughtless objections to these reasonable suggestions.
