As long as we keep San Antonio, Austin, and Shiner (home of Spoetzl Brwg and Shiner Bock).

The rest wouldn't be missed. We already import so much oil, importing the Gulf Coast drop in the bucket won't be much. I also like the idea that GW Bush would reside in a foreign country.

I wish Texas would stop making promises it isn't willing to keep.

What are they waiting for, an engraved exit visa?

Number one, TEXAS isn't making ANY promises. These comments were made by a very unpopular governor who won with only 39% of the vote in the last election. AND

Number two, quit blaming an entire state for the stupidity of a few idiots. AND

Number three, GWB is not and has NEVER been a Texan. He's just lived here off and on for years. Nothing about GWB is Texan, not even the phony accent he started affecting prior to the 2000 election.

        Now, back to Rush's stupidity . . .

Number one, Texas has elected Rick Perry Governor twice already.

Number two, Texas has elected John Cornyn to the Senate twice and Kay Bailey Hutchinson to the Senate four times (including one special election.)

Number three, Texas gave us Phil Gramm, Tom DeLay, Mac Thornberry, and a host of Congressmen who could only be elected to office by a braying population of drooling morons determined to celebrate the Triumph of the Stupid.

In conclusion- Texas's "contribution" to our Representative Government is indefensible. There's the door.

What state are you from? I'm sure there's some idiot in your state that we can use to indict your entire state as you have done to mine.

I can't believe you made that ridiculously stupid statement. As I said, don't blame the stupidity of a few on the entire state.

I would suggest that you take a look at that door. Unbelievable, I mean SERIOUSLY unbelievable. And you're the "proud American"? I would NEVER tell ANY American to leave.

            WOW!

I'm not telling anyone to leave. I'm laughing at the "threat," which implies that anyone in their right mind would respond by begging Texas to stay.

By the way, I'm from Vermont. If every Senator had Bernie Sanders' philosophy, and every Congressman shared the political opinions of Peter Welch, this country would be far, far better off.

Losing a dozen or more troglodyte mouth-breathers from Texas? I think we'd recover. Fast.

Instead of calling me names, why not make some attempt to justify electing that squad of morons again and again?

"Very American of you." Um, my state didn't leave the Union in 1861, and didn't threaten to leave in 2009. I wouldn't be judging the patriotism of others if I were you.

I'm not the one judging folks' patriotism, you are.

I've not made any attempts to justify any of them. I have never voted for KBH NOR Cornyn. I never voted for Gramm nor did I even have opportunity to vote for or against Thornberry and DeLay. I voted for Charlie Stenholm for years and, I, along with the majority of the folks in my community despise DeLay for giving us Randy Neuguebauer. I would vote for Mickey Mouse before I'd vote for that jack a**. So, as I said, don't indict an entire state for the stupidity of a few. It makes you look foolish and petty.

Furthermore, you're ragging bintx about the officials his state has elected. Need I remind you that you are an American and we, as a nation, elected George Bush...twice. I don't know if any of us has room to talk.

You're obviously up-to-date on your Texas history/politics, but you still cannot indict an entire state because of a few people's actions.
If you expect to defeat the bigotry and hatred being spewed by Conservative radio hosts, you're going to have to hold yourself to a higher standard. I know that it hurts to listen/read/hear about stories like this one, and lashing out is the easiest form of release, but you need to man-up and handle this situation with some dignity, unlike Rush.

I'm thinking we have a Survival GOP show. Split the GOP into two teams and put them on opposite sides of the island. Each gets a silo with one low level nuke.

The show will only last 15 minutes, but it will be fun watching them push the launch button and then run around like chickens with their heads cut off wondering if their nuke hits first!

"If we want to save federal dollars, the one to get rid of is socialist, welfare-dependent Alaska."

Amen. Now that BOTH the Tundra Princess AND the First Dud are unemployed, that'd be two less people living off the welfare teat the rest of us work so hard to fund . . .

"I vote we force California to leave. It would save us tons of federal $$"

Perhaps, Jeter -- but just remember, California's [Republican] TermiGovernator would be forced to go back into bodybuilding . . .

And, tell the truth, I was tempted to pile on about Texas, too -- but CA has contributed, in addition to Ah-nold, a union leader/ex-Dem actor governor [Reagan], a corrupt ex-rep [Duke CunningScam], and a current Rep who's a car thief [Darrell Issa] . . .

I doubt that. But if they are what is the reason? Since the right seems so fond of saying he hasn't done anything yet there must be some other reason. Hmm. I wish I could think of what it might be?

Limbaugh: "Texas is ready to recede -- secede from the nation because of Obama"

      Well, Limpy -- while Texas may be "ready" to "recede," your hairline is already in that process {and your waistline has done the opposite.}

Texas ISN'T ready to secede, nor is this even a discussion in this state.

Limbaugh likes to drum up this stuff. I do recall goodhair Perry making some remarks along these lines too. And no doubt there are a few Texas citizens rumbling about it.

But I do understand that Texans generally aren't into leaving the U.S. of A. and it's unfortunate that Limbaugh wants to always travel the low road.

I almost wish they would try. Then, we could execute Rick Perry for Treason...and let HIM see how it feels to be put to death for something you feel is unfair.

      Dear Mr. Limbaugh,

You vowed to secede from NYC months ago.

      WHY are you still here?

      Liar.

I think they should secede from the Union. All that we would require from them is to pay their share of the federal debt.

All we would have to do is build that fence like the one at the Texas Mexico boarder to keep the Texans out.

Not that it will ever happen - Texas likes getting all that Federal money - but, the day after Texas secedes, I'm moving out. There are some who want to create their own "United State(s) For Jesus". I want NO part of that.

Interesting that Rush asked if the student body president was male or female. Wonder where he was going to go with that, had they been female?

Why is it soooo important to know that, Limburger?

If I were a Texan I would tell Rush Limbaugh to keep his mouth shut. He has no great input to add to any cause. I think it is great that the NFL spoke up to him. Of course, he has to blame Obama for that too. Not that his outspoken mouth got him in to trouble again. Rush is like gum on your shoe...hard to get rid of. He is a pot stirrer and not happy unless he has people in an uproar, filled with fear and antagonism. For shame on him. We do not need anymore of his bs, rhetoric or name calling. Please go away Rush! Go live in a foreign country. And if one of these states is so unhappy it wants to leave the union, then go for it...and then we will get serious about securing the borders and keep all of the hateful Rush Limbaughs, Glenn Becks out of this country.

It has been upsetting to me to read such negative comments about my home state from people whom I consider to be ideologically very similar to myself. I live in Denton, TX, and while we may be in the middle of a republican stronghold we are also the center of thought in environmental ethics and philosophy (University of North Texas). Texas has some wonderful things to offer, and it upsetting to see these knee-jerk reactions from people.

I live in Denton county, but south of you. I won't give the city, but it's just off I-35. ;-)

Enjoying the Texas/OU thing this weekend? I don't follow it myself, but I know lots do. I used to live in OK for a spell, being a damn Yankee from NY/PA before that.

Anyway, welcome! And this is a great state with many beautiful places...I agree. We can't help we have Rick "goodhair" Perry making stupid statements!

I live here in TEXAS and I think that this secession talk is bulls--t.These RIGHT WING NUT JOBS are nothing but crybabies when they lose. They just can't comprehend that more people reject their message than buy it. We fought a bloody CIVIL WAR to settle that issue. I had to live for 8 years under BOY GEORGE and DEAD EYE DICK and I never advocated secession or called them NAZIS so these punks need to learn to live with it.
