Because it was said in jest. Pretty simple, dimbulb. She used a term coined by Lee Atwater, the man who started this "us v. them" crap and who, prior to dying from a brain tumor expressed regret.

How can she think it was funny? Well, usually, dum-dum, laughter from your audience is a pretty good sign that your audience thinks what you said is funny!

      This ain't rocket science.

Dolly, its more proof that wingnuts lack the comedic gene.
(As well as the irony one)

Is that Beck's big scoop? Seriously? Media control, and Mao... and this comedy routine is supposed to bring down an administration official?

Glenn Beck IS the joke. I think the voices in his head are confusing him so that's why he couldn't hear the laughter. During a speech to a class graduating from a religious school, Anita Dunn QUOTED a sinner (Mao) and then QUOTED a saint (Mother Teresa). The highschool students understood her better than Glenn Beck. Not really a surprise.

Notice how he calls her "Anita" instead of "Mrs. Dunn" or "Anita Dunn".

Its a sign of disrespect and he obviously has a large amount of contempt for women.

        Yes, it was a joke.

And no, she didn't say that the Obama (it should be capitalized, by the way - Always capitalized) administration successfully controlled the media during the campaign.

There was no Obama Administration during the campaign. Until he was elected, there was just a campaign. That's the first stupid mistake you and FoxNews made. Secondly, she said that the Obama campaign controlled the message that the media got, not that they controlled the media.

And no one claimed that the comment about how the Obama campaign controlled the message to the media was a joke, so I am 100% baffled as to why you would think that the two comments either both need to be jokes or neither can be a joke. The comments are unrelated and both stand alone.

Crazy people here who don't know what they're talking about trying to educate us!!!!

I was going to comment, but after listening to this, and catching the second half of the show, I can't bear the thought of addressing his nausea inducing hatred.

Please listen to the tape, to Anita herself on the tape. She goes on to say that she turns to these 2 people (Mao & Mother Teresa) the most. Anyone who honestly listens to this will know this was not a joke. She also goes on at length to describe a situation with Mao and to quote him. She then lingers on the quote. NO DOUBT SHE WAS NOT JOKING.

And who on earth would get this as a referent to Atwater? This is a group of high schoolers by the way. And where is the Atwater comment? The only comment I could find was a comment by a pastor describing an ecounter with someone else before he met with Atwater.

We need to be truthful on both sides of this in order to have credibility!

Let's not lose our own honesty because of our ideology!

You can tell she was joking when she said "the two people I turn to most"....

You need to open your eyes, and your mind, to reality.

That is the joke. Clearly Mother Theresa and Mao have very little in common. It is ironic that you would reference Mao in this situation. That is the joke. The saddest part, the kids got the joke and you did NOT.

Don't lose your honesty or intelligence because of your ideology!

Hey Beck, why "NOT" listen to the entire segment of the speech that Ms. Dunn gave to the High School Students and then comment with your Republican controversy afterwards? Uh, oh. LOL

Answer from Beck: There really isn't a controversy here with Ms. Dunn. I sure hope people don't catch on to what we have been doing here at FoxNews Channel and on my Radio Show, LOL.
