Oh jeez, here we go again.

Glenn, you do realize most of our Founding Fathers were slave owners right? You know, the folks you idolize. And the ones that weren't, weren't very opposed to the idea of it.

actually most progressive are for freedom.. freedom from corporations like News Corp.

when you watch Beck its really amazing to think that millions watch his show and eat this stuff up and listen to the Gospel of Beck and take it down as, literally, gospel.

Actually not amazing.. more like frightening.

"To progressives, individuals aren't the engine that make this country move. No no no, they are the problem. They make too many wrong choices that hurt the collective..."

...like abortion, gay marriage, marijuana use, atheism...

Double standard? Hypocrisy? Projection? Lunacy? He reports. You decide.

To progressives people are the most important part of a society. This is the opposite of for conservatives who put corporations first. They make corps into people to give these corps my rights. This is evil.

        GAY abortions.
Seriously, though, as a Mormon, Glenn probably already hates Jefferson for going black.

Anyone who can read the word "progress" in the word "progressive" could tell this is complete crap.
So, not his audience, in other words.

So democracy is incompatible with a republic? What exactly is Beck trying to say? He's so incoherent it's hard to discern the message, other than "progressives are out to destroy America".

I wonder if Beck watched Matt Lauer interview Dan Brown last week(prime time special) regarding his new book The Lost Symbol.

If I had to choose between the 2 men Beck and Brown to give me correct(or closest to it)info regarding American history/our Founding Fathers I would go with Dan Brown! LOL

As usual, Beck's monologue is full of holes, unsupported statements and lack of historical information. He says he is reading a book about Samuel Adams and two words pop out at him: ignorance and vice. He never tied those words or Samuel Adams to anything further. He wouldn't pass a US History exam. Just knowing the name Samuel Adams and the phrase Founding Father is not enough. Founding Fathers were either slave owners or supporters of slave owners--if not, we would have fought the War Between the States immediately after the Revolution. Besides supporting slavery, the Founding Fathers did not trust the common man to make good decisions for the government and essentially they may have been accurate in their opinion....just watching this Beck clip is pretty convincing. Everyone of us benefits from taking college or university level US History and Political Science classes (and repeating them every 20 years or so) to protect us from individuals like Beck who make a living of rewriting our collective history and calling it his. He is a non-patriot.

Oh Glenn. Why are you always misleading your viewers?

Why not just come out and tell us that the only "concerned parent" from Anita Dunn's speech was a journalist with Fox News?

Weird - I thought Thomas Paine was considered to be very "progressive" for his time? In fact, he probably would have died long ago in American History had it not been for Lincoln's support.

Beck says "progressives" were previously known as "tyrants," "slave owners"

In the early 20th century, politicians of the Democratic and Republican parties, Bull-Moose Republicans, and the United States Progressive Party began to pursue social, environmental, political, and economic reforms. Chief among these aims was the pursuit of trustbusting (breaking up very large monopolies), support for labor unions, public health programs, decreased corruption in politics, and environmental conservation.

I wonder if the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act is considered progressive. That took more freedom than any law passed recently.

OMG is he talking about the same progressives that introduced the civil rights reform and passed laws permitting women to vote. In addition, they instituted a minimum wage and established the modern economy (with managed recessions and inflation). How dare those tyrants do such a thing. If Sam Adams had his way, he would spread freedom everywhere. Wait a second, isn't that what progressives have been doing for the past 200 years.

I bet Beck would rather have another severe Great Depression because then he could play up mass hysteria which he seems to profit quite handsomely on.

I also find it ironic that he talks about how we are trying to turn this country into a democracy. Because I know it was so much better when women and young adults couldn't vote, along with any minority and slaves. /sarcasm
