His rant on Diet Coke was spot-on. The irony is that it describes precisely the effect that rightwing pundits have on their listeners. Sooner or later, the ability to make independent judgments is gone.

Beck fears a larger GOP, more rational people the less infulence for Beck.

Beck is right on one thing though, who is left to reach out to?
They have turned the Blacks against them
They have turned the Hispanics against them
They have turned the Homosexuals against them
They have turned the Athesists against them
They have turned the Pro Life people against them
They are turning Women against them
They are turning the Jews Against them

Who's left? The GOP cant reach out

Glenn, there are a whole lot of people out there who are not white, not Chrisitan, or male and they would like to be represented by someone besides you. You hate government and you are terrible to anyone in government, but you aren't proposing anything real or workable to take its place, and people need government, they always have, it's part of the "Social Contract." The more people you have, the more government you have to have to take care of them. Opps, I just used the word Social, which means that you don't want it. And I said "care" and you don't want to do that either, since you don't seem to like people. People can't live without roads, or schools, or police forces and fire departments, the military, or grocery stores, or banks. And the goverment needs to provide some of these things and regulate others of them to make sure the services are delivered fairly and equally. That is just good government. I don't feel the need to turn on my security system on a regular basis, but you live behind a six foot wall with two guard dogs and you go out with an armed bodyguard. Who is freer here, you or me?

Glenn Beck talks a whole lot, but I can never figure out what he is really saying... other than he doesn't like Obama. And that's perfectly fair - nobody has to like Obama.

Just please quit threatening revolution in the USA simply because you don't agree with a democratically elected President. If you are that passionate about your libertarian views and ideals, then you are always welcome to move to Canada. They are considered one of the most libertarian countries in the world. Nobody is stopping you, Mr. Beck.

Finally, please have more anonymous interviews with Chris Wallace. That sh!t was funny!

Canada is one of the most libertarian countries in the world? Please.

As someone who spent nearly half my life there and still has strong ties to Canada, you couldn't be more off base if you tried. Canada has a strong federal government and equally strong provincial governments. There are many things Canada is, but libertarian isn't one of them.

While I find the whole phenomena of Beck to be fascinating, one thing that really irritates me is that there are a lot of people in this country with REAL problems facing REAL issues. We don't need imaginary issues on top of this.

Some cult leaders are communist. They go off to Latin American and pursue an agricultural "utopia". If people within that cult dissent, they are "handled" (killed).

Some cult leaders are libertarian. They will stop at nothing to impose their personal beliefs on everyone. If you disagree with them, watch out. There can be no dissent. Has anyone ever agreed with Glenn Beck and not been assailed by him? Imagine if he, or one of his fellow supporters, had REAL power.

While these imaginary problems may seem very real to Glenn Beck, they are far from the REAL world most of us live in. He's only making the problems worse. He's using real threats and real intimidation to prevent those who truly want to make our country a better place for all from doing so.

Fortunately, he's way too full of himself and will, sooner or later, cross a line. When his right to free speech isn't enough for him to advance his agenda, he will use other means. And he will be arrested and thrown in jail. Or he will kill himself. That's how the story ends with cult leaders.

It's only a matter of time.

"noney"-I agree with everything you said. I watch Beck because I happen to live in a small town that 98% of the people ONCE believed Obama=Anti_Christ. Beck has now turned him and everyone in his administration into "Communist Revolutionaries.(and some believe he's both). Being disabled, bed-ridden most of the time, an "outsider", (ie: I've only lived here for 8yrs), and living on disability-not to mention that most know I'm an "evil progressive-has resulted in accusations which would be humorous if they weren't so detrimental. See, I can't do many things on my own, and can't afford to pay very much for someone to help me with certain things such as laundry. Beck has turned volunteering-or even just paying someone less than $50 for one small load of clothes-into something bad, and even sinful. If I could afford to move-I would, but I can't. It's not just me though-I know many elderly here in town who no longer can afford the outrageous prices people demand for just simple things. (ie: $20 for a ride to the hospital-less than 1/2 mile away). Of course, in Beck's warped world-one that is SO transparent, it's terrorizing to think people live by his every word-this is a GOOD thing. He blames Progressives for wanting to destroy this Country-while he destroys things every day. You DO have to say he's talented at what he does though. His skills at "Projecting" are better than any sociopath I ever treated. He slips just a sliver of truth into his scenarios; CONSTANTLY tells his audience how "stupid" the "Progressives" think you are, (and whoever else he includes in his "THEM"). BUT, "*I* KNOW you are smart which is why *I* tell YOU the TRUTH.
Personally, I hope he hurries and "crosses a line". This cult he is building, that he is feeding this hate-filled paranoia, will NOT have positive results.

Interesting about the Dixie Chicks comment:

"As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect." - Natalie Maines in response to the backlash for her comments about George W. Bush.

I'm sorry - even EYE forgot where I was going with this. Dixies won a grammy anyway and I hardly think Fox is losing ratings after Obama avoids them (and who can blame him). I'm as confused as Beck now...thanks for printing that apology - that is really interesting. And I think, tasteful. Good on her.

Beck and Fox News are not interested in listening to the voices of reasoning. Republicans can only blame themselves for allowing this nutcase to speak for them. All they have to do is denounce Beck, Hannity and Rush (and others who speak for the Republican Party). Then let a Republican leader take control of the Party, but their racist idiology and associates/friends won't allow them to do what is in the best interest of the Party.

This is all a scam by the GOP.

It's no longer cool to be rich. A lot of the most powerful people in the GOP are very wealthy. So, they do everything they can to convince the general population that conservatives aren't rich. But ordinary working people.

The GOP will put a stop to it all when the economy starts improving. And when 2010 elections are nearer.

The risk they run, however, is that this "tea party" rhetoric they are fanning the flames of will get out of control... and they won't be able to put it out when they try.

People have told me that I leap between thoughts too many times during a conversation, but I gotta say that I have no idea what the hell he was talking about. First we started with people don't agree with Obama; moved to gut feelings; then Sen Graham and different constituencies; corrupt politicians; diet coke; and finally alcohol. Honestly, I've had friends who have blacked out and made more sense than Beck's rant. Is he trying to confuse people into submission?
