If I had a monitor that big I could do better than the cheesy graphics that Beck uses.

"The progressive government is why Detroit is in the shap it is"
      (Paraphrased from Becks statement)

Gee, Glenn. You mean the recession and corporate mismangement had nothing to do with what is goin on in Detroit?
      Could have fooled me.

I guess that the biggest point of Glenn's is that slavery to corporate interests is good(?).

Why can't you have money shooting out of your pants, you have manure shooting out of your mouth. Is Progressive a code word for poor and Black for you Glenn? That is the second time you've played that tape. I don't even want to go into what is wrong with Detroit, it has to do with having been abandoned by the huge corporations who made their money and then walked away from the people of Detroit, I could, but I am too tired to give you all the reasons.

Beck's obsession with slavery began around the time a black man was his President.... a coincidence I'm sure.

      Could doughboy BE more racist?

Dreck uses his little board to portray a light colored family ('normal' taxpayers), an evil-looking man in the center (government), and a dark-colored family ("they may not be working or they may just be unemployed...") to demonstrate how wrong it is to help out the poor. He then plays a tape of an African American woman from Detroit on some wingnut radio show, blissfully confused about where her 'bailout' money is coming from.

His message is obvious to anyone paying even the slightest amount of attention: government is in the business of taking money from decent, hard-working white people in order to give it to lazy, shiftless, illiterate black people. It is a commentary right out of 1965, intended to stir up race hatred among working class whites against impoverished blacks. It is undisguised in its race-baiting intention. It certainly would have brought a smile to Bull Connor's sneering face.

What a greedy, malevolent, and sociopathic ass that doughboy is demonstrating himself to be!

I thought you were exaggerating, but then I watched the clip. 1965 would be a good marker for this bit, as would be Nixon's Southern Strategy and Reagan's "welfare queens." These people really haven't evolved one iota, have they?

Also, re: Beck's take on Detroit and "progressive" ideas. Is there dire poverty in red states? Not according to Beck, apparently.

I had to watch the video again as well, sure enough the racial differences should have been more obvious to me. I know this kind of thing works for Beck's viewers, but I don't think he realizes how many white people in this country are on welfare. Or how many wealthy or middle class people once had to go on welfare and it breached a gap in their life to move on. For example, me and my family. Now we are well off and I am fine with paying taxes to provide that safety net that believe it or not most people are ashamed to need and work hard to become self reliant again. I emplore skeptics to spend a month visiting a welfare office and listen to the stories of the people there. Sure, some are like that mooching relative we all have in our family, but most want that American Dream and the pride to hold their head high when they talk about what they do for a living.

It's amazing that Fox keeps Beck on when Beck hasn't even removed his lawyers from those poor guys merely asking whether or not Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990.

I don't think Beck did, and neither do those guys with the website, but Beck hasn't denied it, and he hasn't brought forth proof that he didn't do it.

But he won't let up on the White House for not answering his fertilizer questions, will he? I wonder how he feels when he gets asked that question? I wonder how hard it would be to get on his radio show? How many lies would you have to tell to get past the screeners? I wonder how high his voice would go when he screeched at the caller who did? It would be fun. He makes such a spectacle of himself when he looses it.

You know what...that is exactly the first thing that came to my mind. He's such a racist...i mean he displays the "hard-working" family as the light-colored characters and the.."lazy" family as the brown-colored characters in his graphic. I can't believe this guy...seriously...he's such a bigot

So apparently being reliant on legal fictions, otherwise known as corporations, is better than being reliant on a government of the people. You know, I would love to see Beck refuse unemployment money if he went bankrupt and was fired from FNC. I would pay to hear him say, "No thanks, I don't want unemployment money from you progressives. I'm want to be homeless and live under that bridge over there."

i don't think beck is clear what slavery actually is. what he calls slavery i would term being a responible citizen. you pay taxes to help out those less fortunate and to see they have the basics in life.
as far a liberals ruining detroit, i moved to nebraska from california a few years ago and this is what i have found. nebraska is a very red state, california is a very blue state. nebraska has higher teen pregnancy, higher std rate. higher taxes overall and has a higher poverty rate per capita than california. so much for those good old conservitive values.

a yellow family & an orange family, I can see how that should be construed as racsit....why is it that this website picks up on one word "slavery" and then the whole show was racsit...maybe you should have actually watched it, then go to u-tube and see the 15,000 people standing in line in Detroit who think that they are going to get some free money (free of course means that people who actually pay taxes are paying for it) and they don't even know where it comes from. The point of his show was that a progressive (socialist, marxist, leftist - whatever you want to call it) keeps people down and dependent on the gov't (hence the term "slave"). BTW, Detroit went down the toilet b/c of the unions. Period.

Oh I wish that you guys had the lead up to this clip, because this whole thing was about how the public option was wrong and going to take money from people and give it others. That of course is a complete lie, most people getting the public option will have to buy into it.

he has a point for a little. the whole system is corrupt its true. but then to blame progressives for Detroit being a wasteland, not so much. the reason that detroit is empty is because of glenn's favorite economic system, capitalism. since the united states cant do much of anything right, the world figured out how to make cars better, causing the automotive center to collapse, since there cars are actually just bags of feces wrapped in metal and plastic. and if you want to play the red state blue state game and pass blame, i would recommend reading sam harris's book letter to a christian nation, were he shows the red states actually lead the way in terms of crime etc. its sad that fox news has such a following of ignorant stupid people. thats the real problem with this country, you need to be informed for democracy to work, not just shouting about how small your brain is.

Capitalism didnt break Detroit. It hardly had a chance. Unions, legislative mandates on the car industry and corrupt politicians for about 40-50 years broke Detroit.

I have relatives in the Detroit area. Detroit needs capitalism. Detroit needs business.

I live in Maine, which has had a Democratically controlled legislature for about 30 years. When times are good in the rest of the country, it is like a mild recession in Maine. We need jobs, not governmental jobs....private sector jobs. Our government keeps growing while our private sector doesnt. We need less governmental mandates on businesses. We need lower taxes. We need a fighting chance.

We all declare for liberty; but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing. With some the word liberty may mean for each man to do as he pleases with him self ,and the product of his labor; while with others, the same word may mean for some men to do as they please with other men,and the product of other men's labor. Here are two, not only different, but incompatible things, called by the same name--liberty.And it follows that each of the the things is by the respective parties, called by two differenr and icompatible names-- liberty and tyranny."
