Beck says "run-up" to the U.N. climate change conference in Copenhagen "could mean the end of U.S. sovereignty"

Please excuse me as I am barely literate. Maybe you could read the quote below and interpret it for me. It's from the negotiating text of the Copenhagen Treaty:

Pages 18-19: 38. The scheme for the new institutional arrangement under the Convention will be based on three basic pillars: government; facilitative mechanism; and financial mechanism, and the basic organization of which will include the following:
(a) The government will be ruled by the COP with the support of a new subsidiary body on adaptation, and of an Executive Board responsible for the management of the new funds and the related facilitative processes and bodies. The current Convention secretariat will operate as such, as appropriate.
(b) The Convention's financial mechanism will include a multilateral climate change fund including five windows: (a) an Adaptation window, (b) a Compensation window, to address loss and damage from climate change impacts, including insurance, rehabilitation and compensatory components, (c) a Technology window; (d) a Mitigation window; and (e) a REDD window, to support a multi-phases process for positive forest incentives relating to REDD actions.
(c) The Convention's facilitative mechanism will include: (a) work programmes for adaptation and mitigation; (b) a long-term REDD process; (c) a short-term technology action plan; (d) an expert group on adaptation established by the subsidiary body on adaptation, and expert groups on mitigation, technologies and on monitoring, reporting and verification; and (e) an international registry for the monitoring, reporting and verification of compliance of emission reduction commitments, and the transfer of technical and financial resources from developed countries to developing countries. The secretariat will provide technical and administrative support, including a new centre for information exchange.

[[Developed [and developing] countries] [Developed and developing country Parties] [All Parties] [shall] [should]:] (a) Compensate for damage to the LDCs economy and also compensate for lost opportunities, resources, lives, land and dignity, as many will become environmental refugees; (b) Africa, in the context of environmental justice, should be equitably compensated for environmental, social and economic losses arising from the implementation of response measures.

I'm not really sure how you gleaned all this unrelated stuff from a 25-second sound bite, so I'll just focus on your final statement where you say language and context matter. I couldn't agree more. Here's more language from the negotiating text of the Copenhagen Treaty:

Page 137: 22. The COP shall appoint a board, which shall function under the authority and guidance of and be accountable to the COP, to manage the financial mechanism and the related facilitative mechanism, funds and bodies, which shall have an equitable and balanced representation of all Parties within a transparent system of governance, to address all aspects of the means of implementation for developing countries, for both adaptation and mitigation.

What does any of that have to do with U.S. sovereignty? The man is nuts.

With so much of the world leaning so far left and so much more of it under the thumbs of tyrants, he would likely be arrested in over 100 countries if he openly opposed the governments, especially if he had the nerve to openly go against the AGW religious fanatics. People like Beck don't have a country or a religion. Their nation is their bank account and their religion is Money.

I second that emotion. What we should do instead is send hundreds of billions of dollars to the U.N. to "fight" that man-made menace (the bad joke that is the AGW theory) and the U.N. can then turn around and redistribute our money to the rest of the world. Sweet!

Global temperatures have warmed a whopping .4C since 1979 according to satellite observation of the atmosphere, the most reliable form of measurement. That is as of this month, but in June the temperatures was .01C warmer than the average, and average global temperatures in that month were actually cooler than 1979.

In October record low temperatures are being set throughout the US. A baseball playoff game was postponed for the first time in baseball history due to snow. Germany had its lowest October temperature ever recorded. Ski slopes in the Alps have their earliest opening ever.

So with Copenhagen the United States needs to sign an agreement saying we must pay the third world a "climate debt"? That we must come under a world government, because of .01C or .4C temperature rise in 30 years. I think the temperature changed here was 20 degrees yesterday between the low and high.

This is pure politics, it's about wealth transfer from the wealthy nations to the poorer ones. Yes, the developed world needs to help those in need, but extortion based on false premises, is not the way to do it. Were did all these Ludites come from.

We should spend trillions fighting a fake enemy like Snowball on Animal Farm and have the U.N. redistribute the money worldwide under the guise of saving the planet. They shall also provide new and additional funding to cover the full incremental costs incurred by developing countries in implementing nationally appropriate mitigation actions undertaken in the context of sustainable development. Annex I Parties commit the amount of [ ] billion [Euros/dollars] in order to enable mitigation and adaptation actions in developing countries for the period now up to 2012. Complete with a [blank] check. This has absolutely nothing to do with socialism or wealth redistribution. I couldn't see how that could possibly be the case.
