      And. We're. Off!

Is there some sort of mass flag desecration going on that we didn't hear about?

Now when they have no Skin in the Game they hide behind the American Flag Acting like Superman or Superwoman stuck in a Phone Booth?
Doocy & Kilmeade two brave able bodied boys in their late teens or 20s during Desert Storm?
"We Support the Troops" is this the best 99% of America can do while Poor Whites, Blacks & Hispanics put themsleves in Potential Harm?

I don't find the flag offensive. I do find jingoistic nationalism offensive, but the flag is not offensive. I often find the hyper-patriotism of some of the flag wavers very offensive, but not the flag. And I find Retchin' Gretchen offensive, but not the flag.

"A lot of stories" about flag desecration lately? A "movement"...?

      When...? Where...? Who...?

Once again, I'd like to know if this story is from the "opinion" or "news" department of FOX News. I reiterate my request that FOX run a continuous screen crawler indicating whether what is being reported at that moment is "news" or "opinion".

it is "build it they will come" journalism, they laid out the line, "flag desecration" and the stories, contrived or not, will come to them.

A flag burning ammendment to the Constitution is a perrenial fund raising device for the right. They've never seriously tried to pass it but it makes good theatre for them. Expect it to get dusted off in some way, shape or form whenever the right is out of power.

Not sure why this is bad when making shorts or a shirt out of a flag is fine, which was visible during the 9-12 march on quite a few people.

I thought the video was really good, maybe if the creators came out and said they used overlays and didn't deface their makeshift flag it would be ok.

No, see, you don't understand. When someone places symbols of written communication and random scrawls over the rudimentary replication of a banner used as a symbol of a society's organizational ideology in an attempt to relate a message, it's the same as burning Jesus' puppies.

How you libs can turn a blind eye to the alarming rise in burning puppies these days, I'll never understand.

This is terrible! FNC just showed a video of the flag being desecrated, and then repeated it! Why didn't they pixelate this horribly offensive image? Why does FNC hate the flag so much?

Let me assuage your poutrage, Gretchen. You haven't been covering a lot of stories about desecrating the flag lately. There haven't been any on your network. Was the flag dishonored on 9-12 by tea baggers who wore it as clothing? Yes. Did you cover that aspect of the protest you helped organize and promote? No, you didn't. Once again, you've simply told an outright lie for fun and profit. Cash the check, buy yourself something nice, and remember that the courts have approved your right to tell bald-faced lies to the American people.

This is why you are called FOX Propaganda, Gretchen.

Like a broken record, the GOP resurrects the old "values" tune that it's un-American to desecrate the flag per THE FIRST AMENDMENT. (Something Fox hides behind.)

Fox desecrates not only the flag, but the Constitution every time they lie and distort on their opinionated news programs.

The evil zombie liberals are coming to take our country away! OOOooooo!

        >> I posted this on another page. Thought it was appropriate here too. <<

Which items are American flags that cannot be "desecrated"? See links below.

        http://www.flagline.com/us-misc.html

        http://www.promowebsite.com/usa-items.htm

        http://abetteridea.com/usa-items.htm

        http://www.uswings.com/uswusflag.asp

I can keep going, but I think you should get the point by now.

What IS an American flag? What IS desecration?

        What IS the FIRST AMENDMENT?

        What is FREEDOM?

I'm sure China (you know, Mao) bans their flag from desecration. Thank god I live in the free U.S., where flag desecration is a form of FREE SPEECH.

You know, "free speech"? It's that thing Fox hides behind all the time?

And why to conservatives think liberals are against the freedoms of this country????????

      Carlson:
"Email or Twitter me on why you feel the American flag is offensive".

Gretchen: There's this news channel that shows an American flag in the lower right corner all the time. However, I am disgusted that they've erased the flag's edges--almost as if they are burning it--and the flag is severely distorted. I don't know why they feel our flag is so offensive, but I hope you devote some faux outrage over this on your next show.

You know, most war veterans I know say that they didn't fight for the flag, they fought for their country. The flag is just a symbol for their country. While I think our flag should be honored, I think that this is just more faux and hypocritical outrage because they didn't like the actual MESSAGES on the flag. Had nothing to do with the actual flag.

"A lot of stories" about flag desecration lately? A "movement"...?

Nope. All these stories came from Fox. First of all, the video shows a PAINTED American flag, not a real one so there is no comparison. Second, no one got upset when Beck had an American flag on his blackboard and started rearranging things on it. Where was your outrage then??? Third, there are pictures of Bush signing his name on flags which I'm pretty sure that you are not supposed to do.

As Malkin would say, stop demonizing health care supporters!!

So, stop comparing apples to oranges and grow up!

Gretchen saying that the flag is offensive, is another one of her failed seugues to a totally different topic...

Fox is the only news channel who reports whenever someone gets in trouble for displaying the American flag. Inevitably, it's not the American flag that gets the person in trouble, it's usually that person breaking a rule against any flags or stickers being displayed. It's like the Fox family feels like laws and rules don't apply when it comes to the American flag.

If there was a city ordinance that limits the size of a billboard and somebody built a billboard that was twice the legal size but it was an American flag, Fox would report it like patriotism is being stilted.
