Glenn, how much do you know about the quixotic moods of abusive spouses or parents? Personal experience speaking here? When tax rates on the very rich were twice what they are now, union membership was strong and the income of the average worker was increasing. Union membership and tax rates dropped during the Reagan years and real wages are lower than they were (in real, constant dollars) than they were in the 1960s. What you really mean is that high taxes on the super rich are really bad for you and your corporate leash holders. Real wages for the real people are pretty stagnant.

What's he talking about? Is the government supposed to be our daddy? Our significant other?

Now, I'm perfectly capable of going off on tangents, too, but I like to think that there are logical connections between the beginnings, middles, and ends of my rants.

Good point. Yes, the wingnuts are all against "big daddy" government. My husband's biggest problem with Glenn isn't the unrelenting hatred, it is the screwy logic. He just shakes his head and mutters and leaves the room. I really think it is an effect of the drugs and alcohol. There is some serious damage to mental processes there.

Actually, tax rates on the higher tax brackets were higher under Reagan [35% compared to 50%], there were just more loopholes. They keep screaming about Obama's HUGE tax increases, but all his tax increase proposes is taking the top bracket back to the same level it was during Clinton's presidency 39.6% [just 4.6% higher than it is now.]

Also, he fails to mention that a higher tax rate, wouldn't impact about 98.5% of the country, in other words, the vast majority don't see a tax rate increase.

On another note, pay me and my wife a combination of $300k/year, and I'll GLADLY pay another 4%.

So the tax increase would only effect the remaining 1.50%. Does it escape you that these 1.50% already pay more than 75% of the other tax payers?

Does it escape you that everyone pays taxes of a wide variety. Read up a little and learn.

Does it escape you that corporate wealth has caused the wealth of the 1% to explode while the middle class is basically obsolete? How much money do people need? I'm with the others here, give me a few million a year and I'll pay 50% in taxes. Most people just want enough money to feed their family and maybe take a vacation or two before their kids are grown. Most people just want to be able to send their kids to college to provide them a better future. And, yes, most people want to work and earn that money (had to throw that in there bc sure as the sun rises some conservative will say we don't want to work to get that money). The problem is the few who will never be happy, no matter what they make.

              Yes, we know this.

We also think that the people who can best afford to pay taxes should be the ones to pay the most taxes. We think that's the fairest way to tax Americans.

We also think that people who are barely making it, who have little to no disposable income, shouldn't pay much, if anything at all, in income taxes - they pay enough regressive taxes in fees, property taxes either on their own homes or through rents they pay, sales taxes, etc.

And we believe some of the poorest of the working poor should actually get the Earned Income Credit back to help them have sufficient income and them keep working rather than choosing to go on Welfare.

I'll take a million and the taxes that go with it. The greed of these people have no limits.

Exactly what abuse did the US Chamber of Commerce suffer? Is it really comparable to what a battered wife endures?

Beck is cheapening the reality of spousal abuse.

I hope everyone notices that Beck is pretending that the US Chamber of Commerce has been a victim of the Obama Administration.

Reality? For years they lied about how many members they had in order to inflate their importance! Now their lie has caught up with them, and somehow they have become a victim? A convicted criminal is not a victim of his sentencing. The US CoC is not a victim of those who pointed out their lie!

Friends, do not judge Beck so harshly! You see, I've been lying to you all this time... remember that time I told you I walked into a door to explain that black eye? It was Obama... he... hits me. The time I fell down those stairs? It was Obama. But it's okay... we talked it over and he assured me both that he loves me and that he will change.
