He was offended when you told him to go die? Imagine that!

I'm curious... after "thinking seriously" about that, how does one actually do it? Rush makes it sound like subscribing to Netflix.

That's what I was just wondering about. Even if Revkin DID believe in doing this, how would he go about doing it? It's not as if he, you know, runs anything.

By the way Rush, you've been married many times, how come you don't have any kids? I mean, you're all about the family and all.

But where's the other side of the story? It's harder to laugh at Rush without any context proving he's wrong.

I'm thinking seriously about capping families at one child.

Revkin, however, is not, nor did he state anywhere in the article that he wanted to implement and mandate such a policy. He merely suggested that Americans be given an incentive to stop procreating like Octomom and Jon and Kate.

It makes perfect sense to me...I thought you liked tax deductions, Rush?

I've capped my family at ZERO kids. Unless there is an accident, then we'll have a kid, but I hope that doesn't happen.

What in the world is the difference between a 'thought experiment' and a 'proposal'?

Revkin's thoughts about the environment are worthless to begin with but to somehow say that 'adding this to the mix' is not his thought is ludicrous.

      From his blog:

I recently raised the question of whether this means we’ll soon see a market in baby-avoidance carbon credits similar to efforts to sell CO2 credits for avoiding deforestation. This is purely a thought experiment, not a proposal. But the issue is one that is rarely discussed in climate treaty talks or in debates over United States climate legislation. If anything, the population-climate question is more pressing in the United States than in developing countries, given the high per-capita carbon dioxide emissions here and the rate of population growth. If giving women a way to limit family size is such a cheap win for emissions, why isn’t it in the mix?

Why wouldn't Rush or anyone else interpret him as 'adding this to the mix'?

      Please splain it to me.

        Thought experiment: 'what if...?"

        Proposal: "let's do...."

A thought experiment models a system to understand how that system might act, or react to a set of assumptions. You compare your results to real world actions that are comparable in a narrow or wide focus. You look for analogues. Reset your thought experiment till it shows real world actions.

When you think your thought experiment has some use, you make a proposal based on what your experiments have shown you.

The gentleman has not made any proposals from this thought experiment. Nor made any other coments on the utility of the experiment. Somehow given your history I doubt if this means much to you.
