Up is down in the right-wing world. What conservatives basically want to do is make it legal for the Telcoms to extort their customers.

Yeah, that's basically it. Even though, they already are. I mean, look at how "wired" we are in this country compared to other countries. We're lagging way behind in infrastructure for technology.

If only we could have turned the internet over to private corporations sooner, we might still be able to enjoy getting our service from Prodigy and CompuServe...

If the government would just get out of the way, we could have the most expensive and, therefore, best internet service in the world. Just like with cell phone service.

Hey Glenn, I hate to break it to you, but DARPA created the internet, the military/Government created the internet, NOT the free market.

Politics aside, the fact that there is a platform for Beck make statements like this that are 180 degrees removed the truth to a sizable audience is not a sign of a healthy media.

That the lie serves the interests of powerful corporations makes it appear to be by design.

It's not really a game, it's a graphic display of how Obama is thawing the frozen remains of a prehistoric Bigfoot zombie in order to turn over all the McDonald's franchises to government control on his march to world-wide Marxism. Beckk's twist on the domino theory. He's still fine-tuning the concept.

yeah, like me. Ha. I just had to watch his show today, couldn't wait for the big reveal, the one behind the blue curtain, he promised would bring down this administration. What a big let down. Absolutely nothing new. Just the same old pictures, of the same Ole people. I'm such a nincompoop! Seems like even his biggest fans, would get sick of these big build ups to nothing.

Well I see Becky you support the corporations making rules on what site people would want to log on or how fast our downloads can be, because a coporation likes a website better than the other.

It's good of Beck to point out the silver lining in the cloud that would be the death of net neutrality: I could get a discount on an internet package that didn't have to give bandwidth for his insane yammering!

Ah c'mon Becky. It just means you'll be able to view more on-line porn sites.

But you may want to consult your magic hat first, to see if god approves.

There's a whole lot of things wrong with Beck's little act here but let's go with the most obvious thing.

Do you realize, Beck, that net neutrality is the policy on which the internet has been built up? Do you realize that the FCC has been going after ISPs for breaking this policy for years? And do you also realize that this law will merely make it easier for our society to preserve the internet as we know it against the slew of lawsuits that continues to be thrown at the FCC? All this will do is unequivocally enshrine as the law of the land the current state of the internet. This is no radical change, your door will not be kicked down by Obama Internet Cops. "Damn, yo, it's the OIC! Quick, flush all the data!"

DARPA the R and D arm of the Defense Dept. created the internet. Obviously, they were funded with by federal tax $$ . . . yours and my $$$. Once again Beck supports corporate communism as he supports giving telecom corporations the internet that my $$ went to build. Taxpayer $$ being funneled to rich powerful corporations so they can be more rich and powerful. Thanks Glennda.

      Dear Mormonster,

Maybe you think that most of those in your audience are ignorant (FYI, this means "uninformed") but there are lots of folks out here that droolingly wait for you to say something reeeeeally stooooopid like this.

Thank you for never failing to satiate (Google it).

      Buuurrp!

My conservative uncle, who wouldn't know the first thing about obtaining an email address, let alone knowing how to even turn on a computer, likes to attack me because, as he says, I "read liberal blogs." Somehow he 'knows' that a liberal blog is filled with lies but he doesn't know what a blog is. I asked him. He has no idea.

After renovating his house, he got 5 gigantic Plasma TVs. Only he and my aunt live there. He's got a 46" TV in the kitchen. You can walk from room to room and not miss a second of Fox News.

I can't wait until Thanksgiving when he attacks me for supporting Net Neutrality.

My uncle and the millions of old-conservafarties like him are exactly who Beck is targeting here. But I don't even believe Beck knows what he's talking about. "Free market that created the Internet"? Are you serious!?

Beck has pulled so much of this out of his anus that the void left there will one day suck up all his conservazombies and create one dumb singularity. That is the real threat.

Apparently Beck's fact-checkers (some of the biggest minds in America, remember?) overlooked a few things when they cobbled together the misinformation Beck presented to his audience during this particular episode. First and foremost, the "internet" was not "created by the free market". The first network was DARPAnet, created by the US government! DARPAnet was essentially the cornerstone for the World Wide Web Project (at CERN in Switzerland) that brought us the "internet" as we know it today. I guess Beck's "big minds" have trouble finding the actual facts on the issue, much the way a woman with a big purse has trouble finding her keys or wallet. If nothing else, this episode of the Beck show proves that bigger isn't always better.
