The 6th Commandment, Robertson. That is all I have to say.

              kfraz:

I continually crack up when I see that clip from History of the World. It haunts me that when I appear in front of St. Peter, he starts to list how I sinned against 11-15.

"Oh no, but St. Peter, Moses dropped them!" St. Peter than tells me that ignorance of the law is not a defense.

              I'm gonna burn.

I hate it when presidents decide to expand hate crime legislation. It sends a bad message to groups like the KKK. Why does the government always discourage people from joining community organizations and committing murders based on sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.? Oh, I'm sorry, I had a Beck/Hannity/Roberston moment.

*On a side note, I think it was about time that a president included sexual orientation in the hate crimes statute.

Examples: It was nominal Christians who have shot and wounded or killed abortion providers on more than one occasion. Nominal Christians who viciously protest at the funerals of homosexuals such as Dick Sergent and the young man who was tortured and hung up to die on a fence in Wyoming. (His murderers Christians too??) The members of the KKK and just about any other white supremacist organization are all "Christians". But REAL Christians do not engage in such promotion of hatred, nor do REAL Muslims. To paint any group by its worst examples is in itself hateful. Too many Christians in this country hide behind the flag and religion. Isn't the mantra "God and Country"? I'm just saying!!!

Poor Pat. He thinks this bill will prevent him from spewing lies and promoting hatred of gay people. Actually Pat, it doesn't. But don't let facts and logic get in the way of a good rant. After all the knuckledraggers who make up your audience just love to feel persecuted by those mean, old homos. It makes them feel righteous.

What grandpa Walton's really saying -

We Christians need to have the freedom to hate any group we want. And we need to have the right to bash the heads of anyone who doesn't fit our narrow-minded view of morality. It worked for the inquisition. It still works today.

Give us more of that "old time religion."

Oh, and it seems odd that Patty-boy can't separate the sin from the sinner.

Doesn't Patty's type always preach - love the sinner, hate the sin?

Patty: It's a HATE CRIMES LAW, not a HATE SIN LAW, you twit!

And thus Patty reveals his real agenda -- hate the sinner.

          Serious answer---

(You really should learn how to google stuff, so you can learn things on your own.)

          http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/09/us/politics/09hate.html

The hate crimes legislation would give the federal government authority to prosecute violent crimes of antigay bias when local authorities failed to act. It would also allocate $5 million a year to the Justice Department to provide assistance to local communities in investigating hate crimes, a process that can sometimes strain police resources. And it would allow the department to assist in the inquiry and local prosecution if requested.

Democrats, however, noted that the bill would specifically bar prosecution based on an individual’s expression of “racial, religious, political or other beliefs.” It also states that nothing in the measure should be “construed to diminish any rights under the First Amendment to the Constitution.”

Obviously, the phantom thumbs downer guy hasn't read his/her Bible recently.

Jesus DIDN'T hold rich and powerful people in very high regard. While he loved them, he told them that their earthly riches meant nothing. There are numerous references in the Bible to Christ's disdain for earthly riches. The only time he showed anger was when he walked into the Temple and saw the moneychangers and merchants defiling the Temple with their greed.

Actually, He did exist. There are questions among many regarding His deity, but the man known as Jesus the Christ DID exist. You don't believe in His deity, that's fine with me, but you might want to read His teachings. He was all about acceptance and love of EVERYBODY, even those who denied His deity.

The historical evidence for Jesus' existence is circumstantial at best. But that should not keep anyone from believing what they want. That's why they call it "faith".

The problem with a fundamentalist like Patty - he claims he "knows" he's right. And that ain't faith. That's delusion.

And that delusion is what causes a lot of our problems, like bashing gays, or putting others down because they don't believe like they do.

We don't seem to have a problem thinking the Taliban delusional. Why is Patty and his kind any different?

If it's faith, we don't really know - we can only believe.

If we don't know, we can be wrong.

If we can be wrong, then bashing someone for believing something different can be wrong.

Just a lot of debunking, forcing Christians to give chapter and verse for spurious thing that are not in the Bible, etc.
