Ms. Bachmann? Health care for all is just a dream right now. Other countries pay less per person than we do, and somehow manage to keep their populace healthier.

And, the reason you don't have enough votes to stop it is because, we had this election last year just about this time? And your side LOST. That's why you obstructionist no-plan naysayer big corporate shills are out of power. Guess what? We're STILL tired of your line of crap.

I wonder if she'll try and protest the census while she's there. I mean these GOP talking points are all over the place. Yesterday it was taxes (that didn't change). Today its socialism and medical insurance. What will tomorrow bring? Maybe they'll launch a legitimate complaint about the mainstream media and question their reasoning behind bombarding me with coverage of Jon and Kate plus 8's divorce.

Yeah, it could just be me, but I am still waiting for Bachmann to tell me where in the House Bill, the government is going to outlaw private insurance and take over the healthcare system.

The funny thing is that people (including commentators) say politicians lie all the time. However, I don't see anyone calling her on her lies, not even Rep Wilson is running up and yelling at Bachmann, "You lie!"

As for her saying that people don't want it to pass, who is she talking about? Most people want to see healthcare reform. I think the last numbers were somewhere around 52%. I would consider that a majority. I wonder what Bachmann would call it?

Today's voting is not a referendum on Obama, but a referendum on the GOP Propaganda Machine's ability to manipulate the news and drag the Corporate Media around by the nose. Any perceived "rebuke" of Obama will be a direct consequence of that process.

Exactly. The REAL referendum would be if the Democrats actually won in the three focused races. If the Democrat pulls out the NY-23 race, it would be HUGE. First Democratic candidate to win in over 130 years. Same with Virginia . . . . it would break a streak of 32 years wherein the candidate of the party OPPOSING the party in power wins EVERY time. If a Democrat wins it would be historical. If a Republican/conservative wins . . . it would be the status quo.

No referendum here but that's how the media is playing it.

And how better to celebrate "The Super Bowl of Freedom" than with a mass suicide on the steps of Congress!

I am beyond tired of Fox News' warm embrace of the far right lunatics.

Bachmann is a typical "conservative" who rallies her "base" through ignorance, stupidity and lies.

Never fear, Gretchen's here--and oh brother does she ever challenge Bachmann on that!

Super Bowl - isn't that the sports/entertainment event which truthfully has no tangible effect on the real world, and where gigantic corporations who can afford it buy $1 million 30 second chunks of airtime to hawk their products to a selective audience?

Yeah, "Superbowl of Freedom" sounds about right.

Oh there's never been a story, but you might and I emphasize might, hear a positive comment. That's just me wanting to believe that they can not have that much disdain for the POTUS, that they wouldn't at least toss out line that resembles something positive from time to time. But hey, that's wishing thinking for you....but there's always that nasty, naggin' little thing called.............REALITY.

gretchen's nanny get free advert for her "town hall protest". Getchen asks 2 questions ...you are asking people to join you. to do what?
and ...they may have some impact on "blue dogs", right? with time of event and web link ending. that was terrible. What if dan rather "interviewed" his former nanny by in fact giving her a free commercial for the promotion of her protest of congress?

Um, Michelle. The Public Option - key word Option - IS favored by the majority of people. We just want the same healthcare you enjoy.

Amazing that getting the public healthcare = taking away peoples' healthcare.

      What a bag of tools.

And Gretchen, like a good tool, asks not one question opposing Bachman's idiocy.

For those of you who have never been to D.C., it is easy to visit Congress. You can take the Metro to Capitol South and it puts you right near one of the House Office buildings. There are three for each of the House and the Senate. The House offices are on the South side, and the Senate offices are on the north side of the Capitol. The Library of Congress is across the street. All of these buildings are public property and admission is free. Getting into the building is a matter of going through a metal detector and emptying your pockets. You do not have to present ID. There are electronic building directories at the major entrances that list all the Reps or Senators alphabetically and which of the three buildings they are in. If you ask at your Congressional office, you can receive a free pass to the galleries to watch actual sessions. You may leave notes in their offices. In some cases, you may actually get to have a private discussion with a staffer. Many offices have guest books to sign. You may see camera set-ups and interviews in progress. Most of the staffers are young and almost everyone was friendly. If you can't go, they have phone numbers and e-mail addresses. Your Congresspeople do want to hear from you. I visited several offices just three weeks ago. I am not sure about going on Thursday, but if I do, I plan to restate my support for the public option. And if I don't go, I plan on sending e-mails to several members, including Ms. Bachmann.
