LIMBAUGH: Here is -- these are my thoughts on New York-23. In the first place, I'll have to double check this, but I'm reasonably sure that this was the highest percentage of the vote ever won on the Conservative Party line by a House or Senate candidate. I think Hoffman had a higher percentage of the vote than even James Buckley, who won his U.S. Senate race on the -- against or against this Gooddell guy, Charles Gooddell, in the '70s. So, that's one thing.

But, the right message; we cannot forget how this whole thing happened in the first place. There was not a primary. The right message here would indict the way party bosses, Republican Party bosses and these big thinkers like Newt screwed the whole thing up from the get go.

And infallible Sarah "Quitting is a Virtue" Palin, the woman Rush said was so much smarter than Michelle Obama, a graduate of Princeton and Harvard (which of course isn't as distinguished as four colleges in five years).

"... big thinkers like Newt.." ?! Seriously, Rush? First, Newt is not that big a thinker. Second, is the point you're making that the Republicans would be better off with small minded, petty and vindictive men like you at the helm? Because I think a majority of Democrats would applaud that decision.

That was the money line for me too, Cat. When Newt Gingrich is too cerebral for your cause, you know you're running on pure emotion and primitive instinct.

The GOP may as well run a lizard or snake to see how many of the far right dittozombie base they can turn out.

And when that happens, to paraphrase Douglas Adams, they'll keep voting for the lizard to make sure the wrong lizard doesn't get into office!

So long, and thanks for all the fish! :)

No, it was "screwed up" by people who came from out of the district and tried to push their own agenda like Palin, Bachmann, Beck and YOU, Rush.

They were smart. He looked like a deer in headlights on TV and hardly spoke. He doesn't live in the distrct he ran for and had no clue what the issues were. It was like talking to a version of Sarah Palin. No wonder she supported him.

        Thank you NY-23!

The majority of the endorsements were for Hoffman. He lost because he hasn't the slightest idea of what's going on in that district. His only credential was being endorsed by a bunch of far right pols and dj's.

What happened was that the republican candidate was forced to resign by the more right wing Hoffman who was completely unexperienced, had no clue about the actually topics of the debate and didnt even live in the district. The independent cant take on a radical conservative view and then, derail the political career of his most important supporter (which was clearly not beck.) If he wasnt going to lose anyway, he certainly lost when the republican candidate in the district put her support and thus, a good chunk of the republican vote behind the very moderate democratic candidate. And of course, Hoffman looking like a dear caught in headlights who stepped right out of nerdsville didn't help his cause either. Of all things, the patriot/9/12/ teabag movement picks a public accountant as their face. Not only did he seem ignorant but he just seemed like a geek who had the personality of a dead fish.

Getting the largest percentage of the vote ever for a conservative candidate might make some good political trivia, but the point of it is to actually win the election...and I believe your candidate did not.

gosh rush..are you sure it wasn't acorn and voter fraud..?

ny-23 is of course much more telling about the state of the GOP than Virginia and New Jersey combined..and cal-10 really turned the tables..my goodness a real progressive won a landslide..

I agree the GOP screwed this up from the get go
The D won the NY-23 race by 4%
The R won 5% of the vote
most everyone who voted C would have voted R if C wasnt an option meaning the vote could have been
      49% D
      51% R
if the GOP didnt split their voted
some people who voted D probibly only voted D because the R endorsed the D meaning the vote would have been more lopsided

So the Republican bosses screwed that up, Execpt for Newt he was the only one smart enough to see how to do it right

Rush is THE party boss because I firmly believe that he owns the Republican Party and the Republican National Committee outright. After all, how can he shout Michael Steele down and make him shut up and get away with it
