Hey, that's what I heard on Fox News!!!!
The consistution allows congress to pass any laws it sees fit that do not directly conflict with the consistution.
So the question now Congressman is where in the Consistuion say congress cant pass that law or that the treasury cant do what they are doing?(it doesnt as the Treasury Department itself is never mentioned in the consistution)
It might be worth pointing out that the Consistution actually does not set up a system for interperting the consistuionality of laws, meaning that by the Consistution if congress passes it it must be Consistutional. (Judical Review was granted to the Supreme Court in a court case not by the Consistution)
in other words by Bachmann's own logic limiting us only to the Consistution, Sec Geithner can justify his actions just by saying "congress allowed it" as that is all the consistution requires for consistutionallty
Shame really when all these right wing wackjobs try to ask people how the consistution allows them to do this or that, and that nutjob doesnt even know whats in the consistuion.
"freedom-loving" Americans?
How does Bachmann define the other 50%+ Americans that support Health care reform??
This is about insurance reform. What exactly does it have to do with anybody losing health care?? Such false accusations. In fact, isn't the bill trying to guarantee that more people get health care. It would be fair to debate the cost but other than that it's just fear-mongering.
"organic"?? "grass-roots"?
means it comes from the people not the rich elite. This protest was started by Bachmann, a politician, and Hannity, a rich opinionated mouthpiece for the conservative, hate everything Obama does, movement.
This bill is so far from socialized medicine you are making other countries with real socialized health care laugh. The only thing remotely socialist is the public option which will help 5-10% of poor Americans get affordable health insurance, not even universal health care.
Talk about being scared of nothing.
Bachmann, making mountains out of molehills.
The United States, the only wealthy country in the industrialized world without health care for all citizens.
Doing nothing is no longer an option.
means it comes from the people not the rich elite.
No, this means it grew from a pile of manure.
The only thing remotely socialist is the public option which will help 5-10% of poor Americans get affordable health insurance, not even universal health care.
Don't buy into this talking point. This is working the refs to all of a sudden discover "socialism". It is malarchy. True socialism is the control of all private wealth and means of production by the state. If you define progressive taxation with government redistribution of that "income" as "socialism", then the following things have always constituted socialism - the Dept's of Defense, Agriculture and Interior, Medicare and Social Security, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, HUD, the interstate system, the national park system, our police and fire services, the public university systems, every corporate subsidy or tax break that ever existed, and on and on and on.
The New Media Journal/Office of US Rep. Thaddeus McCotter
Last night, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released its score of the House Republican health care plan, reporting that it will reduce healthcare premiums by up to 10 percent and lower federal budget deficits by $68 billion over the next ten years.
In a letter sent to sent by the CBO to House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH), the CBO said:
"The amendment includes a number of provisions intended to increase the availability and improve the affordability of private health insurance.
"According to CBO and JCT’s (Joint Committee on Taxation) assessment, enacting the amendment would result in a net reduction in federal budget deficits of $68 billion over the 2010–2019 period. That estimate reflects a projected net cost of $8 billion over 10 years for the provisions directly related to insurance coverage; that net cost reflects a gross cost of $61 billion that is partly offset by about $52 billion in additional revenues associated with the coverage provisions. Over the same period, the other provisions of the amendment would reduce direct spending by $49 billion and increase tax revenues by $27 billion."
US Representative Thaddeus McCotter said, “In hearing and heeding the American people, House Republicans have proposed sensible, affordable and helpful reforms to advance patient-centered wellness that will empower working families to reduce the costs, increase the quality and maximize the choices regarding their health care."
The CBO's letter estimated that the GOP health care plan would reduce average private health insurance premiums per enrollee in the United States relative to what they would be under current law. Specifically:
▪ For the small group market (generally businesses with 2 to 50 employees), the GOP plan would reduce premiums in 2016 for example by seven to 10 percent.
▪ For the individual market, the GOP plan would reduce premiums in 2016 by five to eight percent.
▪ For the large group market, the GOP plan would reduce premiums in 2016 by zero to three percent.
By comparison, the Democrat proposed legislation being forced through the House by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (P-CA) will cost taxpayers $1.3 trillion.
