And all the people listen to their charismatic alien leaders every day on the radio and on TV? And the people get shipped in buses by the aliens to rallies in Washington, DC? Oh, wait...nevermind.

OH MY GOD!! 24 of the top 25 industrialized countries in the world are controlled by space aliens!!!

I saw the show last night and liked it. I wonder if Hannity has thought of what the aliens in the spaceship over London promised them. They already have universal health care.

Um, loony theory at best made even loonier when you consider that this V is a remake of the 1980s series of the same name. Guess that series took aim at Reagan.

      What an idiot.

Just like they view the TV show "24" right wingers will view "V" as a documentary. That's not much wilder than some of Glenn Beck's paranoid accusations.

Remember . . . we're talking about the same people who

            - question the sexual orientation of SpongeBob SquarePants
            - were convinced one of the TeleTubbies was gay

Wingnuts: still not able to distinguish fantasy from reality.

Actually the show they seem to see as a documentary is the X-FILES. But then some of us on the left made the same mistake -- only we didn't elect our crazies. They did.

"SyFy" (I hate that spelling) ran the two original miniseries, then followed up with the (lame) series the next couple of days.
I noticed certain similarities to the Neocons:
Scientists were defamed by the Visitors because they were afraid that their 'secret' would be revealed. In fact, Scientists were outlawed or 'converted'.
The female journalist who was one of the first to meet the V's became their 'spokesperson', and was immediately killed, literally, when she turned on them (think 'big tent')
The Supreme Leader, "John", was pretty much ineffectual, with "Diana", basically one of his 'second in commands' the one who actually controlled things (Cheney).
Whenever there was a problem, the person who screwed up or was framed (one Human, Daniel, was 'invited to dinner' after he was framed for helping Humans escape). Kind of like the Newt/Palin/etc. self-destruction.
They wanted to either 'convert' or kill (or eat) anyone who disagreed with them, and used torture techniques as a means of 'conversion', or to get information.

I wonder if he knows it's filmed in socialist Canada? You know, the place with universal health care. A good friend of mine works on this show and the producers already have a reputation for working everyone way too much. Pretty much anything can be twisted to suit these twisted twisters...

This is why I'd hate to be a wingnut; you can't just be freaking ENTERTAINED by anything, it has to be a vindication of your entire agenda, just like that bizarre phase where they said "The Dark Knight" was a metaphor for what a selfless hero George Bush was.

Presidential Executive Order, whether Constitutional or not, becomes law simply by its publication in the Federal Registry. Congress is by-passed. Here are just a few Executive Orders that would suspend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These Executive Orders have been on record for nearly 30 years and could be enacted by the stroke of a Presidential pen:
      * EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990 allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.
      * EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media.
      * EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals.
      * EXECUTIVE ORDER 10998 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms.
      * EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.
      * EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions.
      * EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons.
      * EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.
      * EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations.
      * EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities.
      * EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.
      * EXECUTIVE ORDER 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President.

Quoting USAToday, 11/4/09: Contemporary viewers may have differing interpretations, as do the show's stars. (Actress Elizabeth) Mitchell sees V's as a religious cult; (Actor Scott) Wolf believes they represent terrorists.

Others on both sides of the political spectrum may point to the visitors' explicit promises of hope, change and universal health care as a pointed reference to pledges of the Obama administration. But (Executive Producer Scott) Peters says the show has been in the works since 2007. Reality was "never really a factor," he says. "There's no political message being shoved down anyone's throat."

Now Sean... how can something that was in the works back in 2007 be about the Obama administration? Logic train just rolls right past this guy, doesn't it?

Alright I give up. Just as I was beginning to accept Obama was illegitimate because he was born in Kenya, now I have to get my arms wrapped around him being an alien from outer space.

I was saying that V was supposed to represent Obama since I saw the commercials for it. I watched in, painfully, the other day and I still hold to that. Did the original V have the aliens offering, and I quote, "universal healthcare"? Did they talk about hope and spreading the message through the Internet? It's obvious that whoever is behind this show is trying to feed off of anti-Obama hysteria in the far right-wing members of the public in a quite obvious, blunt manner. There's nothing subtle about it. It's actually pretty ridiculous, much like everything else that comes out of the right-wingers.

The show sucks, though, so it won't last.

I think it will be a good show. If anyone jumps the gun and starts saying the Vs represent Obama it could back fire. I will assume it will follow the original show and highlight how people profit from "protecting" against the Vs.

If anything it just shows how people can be turned against a good idea for money. All you have to do is make them fear a situation and you can be rich.
