      St. Ronald the Reagan...

BTW, I'm glad Levin thought this protest rally was important enough to get dressed up for.

I like this Levin guy. When Hollywood does a tribute movie of The Three Stooges, Levin is a shoe-in to play the oft-overlooked role of Curly.

Now, why would you want to slander Curly's good name like that, TNP? What's he ever done to you? Give you a double eye poke?
On the other hand, Levin might have a shot at the role of Joe Besser... if Joe Besser had been a SPUTTERING, OBNOXIOUS, LYING PRICK!

I never found the charm in Ronald Reagan. I didn't like him when I saw him on Merv Griffin, just as he was leaving office as Governor of California and I liked him even less when I heard him speak in 1980. He was a jerk who could be mean-spirited. But this remark was from 1961 and about Medicare. I don't feel less free, even though Medicare passed when I was a wee lass. I know it gave medicare to lots of older Americans who are grateful to have it.

Some of these far right folks have a problem with using "God Bless America" "I'm a patriot" and little phrases like that as some sort of clincher to any arguement. Not meaning to stamp on anyones pride for their country, but its a bit ridicolous.
I'll give it a go though,

Lets carpet bomb Germany with A - bombs, because they could turn Nazi again, hey, Germany's a European socialist country in the middle of a recession, not much unlike how Nazi Germany started........God bless christians and God bless America.

Now honestly, does that not sound too far away from what Levin or Savage would say? Really?

Time after time people like The Little Guy and that crazy cat lady Michele Bachmann and Sheer "Am I An Idiot?" InSannity tell us what great patriots they are.

If it's true why do they have to keep bragging about it?

Just like when somebody says "To tell you the truth..." or "To be honest..." and you know they're about to lie like a rug.

It's kinda like here in Texas, where people can say horrible things about other people as long as they end it with the words "bless his (or her) heart".

Example: "That boy is a retard - bless his heart!"

IIRC, that's also the case in Tennessee, with a comedian of Asian heritage (can't recall his name) who mentions it.. and starts his show with "Howdy".

With that in mind it kind of makes you wonder why the right-wing freaks get so upset about the possibility that it 'could' be expanded someday to the rest of us...?

When I stationed overseas, I heard a lot of the service members and their families really run down the medical care they received for free, but we (as civilians) had to pay for, in full, up front and on a "time and space available" basis. We got really poor care, and it wasn't always billed in a way that we could get paid back by our insurance. I got so fed up that I actually broke military policy and went to local doctors and hospitals for my families care. (Which was cheaper, and often better quality.) If I complained about the military care, they would slap me down in a heartbeat, it was like they were afraid to allow an outsider into the program and they would not tolerate an outside criticism for fear of loosing what they had. A lot of seniors feel the same way, I am sure. They have theirs, they feel entitled and don't want to let anyone else in for fear of having less themselves.

These idiots are all Paranoid Schizophrenics who see liberals around every corner and hear the voice of King Ronald The Pretender. And Mr. Levin, here is breaking news: You are irrelevant and insignificant. What you say is only important to the small groups of mind numb robots who listen to you. The people who listen to Levin are no longer able to think for themselves and must listen to him or Rush for their marching orders.

In that same message, Reagan also said this about patients and doctors under Medicare...

But let’s also look from the other side, at the freedom the doctor loses. A doctor would be reluctant to say this. Well, like you, I am only a patient, so I can say it in his behalf. The doctor begins to lose freedoms; it’s like telling a lie, and one leads to another. First you decide that the doctor can have so many patients. They are equally divided among the various doctors by the government. But then the doctors aren’t equally divided geographically, so a doctor decides he wants to practice in one town and the government has to say to him you can’t live in that town, they already have enough doctors. You have to go someplace else. And from here it is only a short step to dictating where he will go.

And we all know that Reagan was right about Medicare and it's impact on the US.... oops... maybe he was wrong

He was also right about trickle-down economics. And that you can raise more revenue by cutting taxes!

          I don't recall Reagan calling trickle-down economics a failure.

You can raise more revenue anytime the economy improves.

It was sarcasm. Reagan my think trickle-down works, but there isn't a credible economist who agrees with him. And the widening gap between the rich and poor since 1981 only further underscores the point.

Stupid quote. And Reagan did plenty to take away freedoms -- like paving the way for the PMRC, religious right, and other attacks on free speech during his time in office.

reagan also said medicare would lead to communism and the fall of democracy in the US. He said the US would become the soviet union. And medicare is now one of the most cherished social programs in the history of the United States and universally supported by both parties. Its even used in order to fight against universal healthcare by saying it would be threatened.

Reagan is the right-wings savor. Talk about him and see a revolt.

To bad I will say he did the massive start to deregulation followed by the next 3 presidents after him. "Reganomics, Bush I O'nomics, Clintonomics, and Bush II O'nomics. Corporations have brain washed people's brains!

Example: The same taxpayer money given to the bailed out banks and auto companies. They used 70 million of it to lobby for anti-reform laws to effect the taxpayers. The same thing with the health insurance companies. 9 million was used for anti-reform lobbying. That same money could pay for a 1000 people for health care for a year.
