Hey, is that how scientific analysis works? Because if I utilize your unquestionably valid methods, I think I could get the hang of this.

        I'll give it a try...

I live in North Carolina. On Saturday, it was about 60 degrees. Sunday, it was in the mid-70s.

Check it out -- global warming!

Seriously, the worst thing about global warming is you'll be long dead before you're proven wrong.

Global temperatures have in fact been cooler since 2002. US temperatures in October were the 3rd coldest in 116 years.

You do understand that when the earth's temperature rises that it throws off ALL weather patterns, right? Traditionally temperate areas become either excessively hot others will become excessively cold. Areas which traditionally have excessive rainfall will experience severe drought.

You just proved that global warming is real.

We do believe in the facts, but we like to get ALL of the relevant facts available. That's where we differ from the denialists who cherry-pick facts that support the position they've already choses and discard any that don't.

Your data applies only to the US. The US represents only about 4% of the earth's surface. Are you a big enough idiot to believe that the data of 4% of the earth's surface from a very small period of time represents long-term global reality? Or aren't you quite that stupid?

Similarly, yesterday, in Detroit, there were no murders, thus proving conclusively that the murder rate is not actually going up.

And by recorded history you mean all the way back to 1971 correct?

Since you distorted the statistics in your first sentence it invalidates the point you were trying to make.

You want to look at facts, and figure out if there is global warming or not, oldmaninblackforest?

All right. If you really want to know the answer to your question, then I suggest you look into the production of wine. For the first time in recorded history, vintners are producing good wines in southern England from grapes that, just a hundred years ago, grew much better in France, as they had for hundreds of years before.

Shhhh. He may like wine. So, he'll just think it's a good thing that these grapes can grow in southern England.

Then he'll be wanting to take a tropical cruise to Antarctica.

Very true, SLRTX. As a Midwesterner who had grandparents who were farmers, I really find the shift in grape growing regions much more persuasive than temperature records. First, the evidence goes much further much more reliably back in time. Second, if you get a globe out, and really look at how far it's shifted, the psychological impact is bigger than numbers and charts.

That sounds like the rallying cry for the deniers.

And here I sit looking out the window at the thermostat saying 90 degrees in the shade in the middle of November. Granted I'm in AZ, but that's still ridiculous.

The problem is that with global climate change being labeled as "global warming," its an easy excuse for deniers to say that just because it's cold means there is no climate change. As Bintx mentions, it affects all weather changes: the colds get colder, the hots get hotter, storms get stronger and droughts last longer.

On a side note, I've always been amused that the World Wildlife Fund beat out the World Wrestling Federation for the use of the WWF trademark. The big tough wrestlers beat up by a bunch of tree-huggers.

The troubling part about Limbaugh is that he spreads ignorant lies with such conviction, combined with the fact that he's a right wing media star, that his gullible listeners assume he must know a lot and is speaking truth.

The fact of the matter is that Limbaugh is a liar; he's a high school graduate who pretends expertise on every subject on which he pontificates, which is just about evrything; and he is wrong just about all the time.

Rush Limbaugh is simply a con artist, making millions all because he has gullible listeners who are drawn to Limbaugh's mean-spirited bigotry and greed like flies to manure. Sad...
