      I'm wondering...

Is anyone shedding a tear over this?

Also, (and not that I necessarily care) anyone not believe for even one second that Dobbs will in fact, be at Cluster Fox by months end??

His start date at Fox will depend on whether or not there was a no-compete clause in his CNN contract!

I think it'll take 2 years before he gets rehired... he's disappeared and reappeared before. It won't be a quick process, but it is inevitable that he'll end up on Fox News

Dobbs has decided he could keep his audience better served with news on birtherism and illegal aliens by updating them on Facebook and Twitter.

Ummmm, Dobbs didn't get fired. He resigned amid high praise from the CNN execs. And believe me, your sorry excuse for a liberal activist organization had nothing to do with it.

yeah, no one has ever been fired by way of a mutual agreement to leave. it's never happened. ever. not once.

believe you? why? you have some facts you're holding back? some proof? until then...

Yes he didn't get fired. He was allowed to resign, but if he hadn't resigned, he would have been fired - that's why he isn't going to get paid for the remainder of his contract. People who are going to be fired if they don't resign first don't get to claim the higher ground that they didn't get fired.

His recent distortions about the bullets at his home in the country, including lies that it wasn't hunting season and that the bullet that hit the outside of his home on the second floor threatened his wife who was in the driveway at ground level, hurt him.

Then there was the Latino in America documentary that got shown on CNN this past weekend that was horribly biased and not a news documentary. But CNN has been trying, desperately, to identify themselves as a straight news site, which they can't do with Lou Dobbs there.

In fact, Dobbs was told that he had to keep to the straight news on his TV show, and that he could spew nonsense on his radio show, although I never figured out how CNN could fully distance themselves from the radio show content. CNN figured that out too, and told him to take a hike. He spun it as much as he could, but he was allowed to resign before he got fired. Happens all the time.

          From CNN.com:

In a written statement, Klein called Dobbs "a valued founding member of the CNN family."

"For decades, Lou fearlessly and tirelessly pursued some of the most important and complex stories of our time, often well ahead of the pack," Klein said. "All of us will miss his appetite for big ideas, the megawatt smile and larger-than-life presence he brought to our newsroom, and we're grateful to have known and worked with him over the years.

"With characteristic forthrightness, Lou has now decided to carry the banner of advocacy journalism elsewhere. We respect his decision and wish him, Debi [Dobbs' wife], and his family the very best."

Yea.....you're right. It looks like they were just forcing him out the door. I have statements to back up mine. Do you have anything to back up yours?

oh dear. he left CNN with high praise. and what did you think was going to happen?
you ever been in the business world? leaving with "high praise" happens all the time when in fact it's nothing but get them out the door.

""Months ago the president of CNN/U.S., Jonathan Klein, offered a choice to Lou Dobbs ... [he] could vent his opinions on radio and anchor an objective newscast on television, or he could leave CNN."

i'm sure they also said, you can leave friendly like and we'll give you a good send off.

            it happens all the time.

Yes, we have the statement from months ago from Jon Klein, for one.

We have the fact that he didn't get paid for the remainder of his contract - only people who resigned because they were going to get fired if they didn't don't get paid for their remaining contract.

And we have this statement that you quoted above!.

"Lou has now decided to carry the banner of advocacy journalism elsewhere."

Since when was his job at CNN to carry a banner of advocacy journalism? See, that was what made him have to leave! He was told to stop with the advocacy journalism on the TV show. Again, I don't know how CNN could ignore what he said on his radio show, and I bet eventually, they just found that they couldn't! He didn't stop at the radio show doorway though. He had that bigoted Latino in America show on recently, and I suspect that was the last straw.

It looks exactly like they were forcing him out the door. Exactly like that. He's taking his ball and going home, since CNN refused to let him play his game with his rules on their network!

Your rants are often written as though you're a two year-old, but are you seriously saying that CNN would've fired Dobbs before his contract lapsed, and not simply waited him out? Really? Every statement released by both Dobbs and CNN indicates exactly to the contrary, but I'm sure that you, DumbDolly, know better. Are the no-name lemmings on here that stricken with delusions of grandeur to think that their little internet blogs, and cute little letter writing campaigns, forced CNN's hand? A little clue for Foser et al., about .00002% even know you exist, and about half that give two s..ts what you have to say.

As Dobbs stated, he left because he no longer wanted to be restricted by the political correctness that is anathema to honest reporting. . . There's no evidence that it wasn't entirely his choice to shirk CNN's liberal leanings, and leave. As some lemmings already pointed out, Dobbs very likely could be slotted at Fox, whereby his audience would immediately skyrocket.

That letter was Kool Aide and it looks like you drank it all up.

Nobody knows the whole truth about this except for the people involved. Any explanation should be taken with a grain of salt as it should be expected that there is going to be some spinning and re-arranging of the complete and (most likely) unsavory truth here.

He also took any ratings the network had with him. The way to compete with FOX and MSNBC would be to have opinion shows balance each other out instead of all one way like the other 2 networks.

Milque Toast won't work in primetime when you have Left vs Right with your 2 competitors. There is a reason CNN is third. (of course not by much)

Dobbs told them he wanted to go the 'opinion route' and CNN said no.

Racism, like alcoholism is an addiction that is hard to break. Both usually require a dramatic life changing experience to overcome the addiction. Let's hope this helps Mr. Dobbs on his road to recovery.

Lou will find another outlet for his lunacy. Maybe strolling by construction sites in the early-morning hours, counting the brown-skinned workers, returning items at the supermarket, complaining about the long lines at the post office, or slobbering into his telephone machine that he SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PRESS "ONE" FOR ENGLISH!!!

Ode to Lou's Departure (to the tune of "Poor Judd is Dead")

      Poor Dobbs is gone
      Poor Lou Dobbs went wrong
All gather round his office now and cry
He had a heart of gold
And he was gettin pretty old
Oh why did such a feller have to lie?

      Poor Dobbs is sacked
      Poor Lou Dobbs is packed
He's lookin' oh so peaceful and serene
      He's gonna get a rest
With his hands acrost his chest
His fingernails have never been so clean

      [spoken]
Then Pat Robertson would get up and say
"Folks, we are gathered here to mourn and groan over our brother Lou Dobbs
Who wrung hisself up over hysterical conspiracies"
And then there'd be weepin' an' wailin' --- from some of those teabagging folk---
Then he'd say, "Lou was the most misunderstood man in this territory
People used to think he was a mean ugly fella and called him a dirty skunk
      and an ornery pig stealer...

The folks that really knowed him
Knowed that beneath them ornery scowl he always wore
There beat a heart as big as all outdoors Dobbs as big as all outdoors)
Lou loved his fellow white man all the more.

Very nice, Mary. Of course, a poster above would disagree with you, as the official story is that Louser resigned with high praise from his employers.

We all know that most companies legal counsel advises them to jettison old, crazy dead weight with some public humiliation and forced termination.

Believe me, Mary, I've been on all sides of these "mutual agreements" in many different situations; as employee, employer, supervisor, boyfriend, etc.

I've also written more than a few glowing reference letters. I wouldn't call them dishonest, just focusing on the positive, hoping that the subject would go away and become somebody else's problem.

I believe you. If it was the employee/politician issuing a statement, I enjoy the "spending more time with my family" thing, myself. I hope Mark Sanford uses it when he leaves as guv of S.C. ;-)

              Dear Colonel,

It's been swell to have you as a BF. But I'm a feared that we'll have to stop seeing each other, due to my husband being so insistent. I mean I'm not forcing your resignation, well I guess my husband is......but I digress.

It's been delightful, and you've made me a better hoochie ma, and I'll continue to do my hoochie work in a socially responsible way, like writing a tell all, or becoming a body lingo expert for Fox News.

So tata, my Colonel. We'll always have Paris.
