Whether you want to parse words or not, Palin and H. Clinton were subjected to extremely sexist barrages of critiques on their looks and fashion...Palin in particular was a favorite of tabloids like OK! and People, magazines that devote large sections to fashion in general. The only one that legitimately took the level of scrutiny and abuse that Palin and Clinton did was Edwards, and that was for his hair only.

Selective examples of bored reporters commenting on Al Gore's suits' "hue" does not come close to what H Clinton or Palin took.

It's wasn't about "fashion," it was about the potential illegal use of campaign funds to purchase ridiculously expensive clothing for her ENTIRE family.

I didn't care what she wore or how much paint she slopped on her face. Her lack of intellect and ethics were more than enough for me.

That's what I remember too. No one criticized her appearance as they did with Hillary. They were questioning the use of campaign funds and the cost. I assumed she thought those were legitimate concerns when she said she would return all the clothes.

I think there was an issue with her trying to portray this "every-woman" image while at the same time wearing clothing that cost more than the average woman makes in a year... The whole clothing issue was so far down the importance scale, for me anyway.

Not to sure but could it have been cause they spended 100k on cloths for her. so maybe they were talking about money spend as oppose to what she looked like.

Was a controversy with Edward's hair... I think the fact that so much was spent on her wardrobe drew attention to the matter, making a non issue an issue, but I guess for Republicans, its not okay about criticizing someones wardrobe, but questioning someone's citizenship and demanding proof of a birth certificate is fine. I'm sure the scrutiny there was justified...

Yes, a lot has been made about Sarah's looks. Republicans usually carp that we are only picking on her because she is pretty. I will admit, she is an attractive woman, with a great figure for a mother of five. Yes, there was concern about the cost of her clothes after it was leaked that campaign donations had paid for them, and there were annonymous insider remarks about the family's hillybilly behavior. I have no idea how much of that is true, but I don't ever remember another candidate having so much negative personal information coming from their own side. I always function under the presumption of where there is smoke, there is fire, under those circumstances. It seems to me, if there weren't an issue with her, her campaign would not be trying to undercut her. Also, she has reacted in such a petty, thin-skinned manner in public, I have to lend credence to those remarks. She isn't smart enough or educated enough to be the President. She should go home and stay there.

Did she actually say that it wasn't a contraversy for other candidates? Even I remember the nonsense about haircuts, pant-suits etc.
Does Madonna2 actually believe what she is saying? Do her followers actually believe her? Most importantly, how long will Rush use her before he dumps her?

I heard that this type of media bias is bothering her and that she has openly stated that if this book doesn't do well that she is going back to Alaska and be governor again. She said she was only kidding about becoming the QOTUS.

Why is this woman complaining so much? She was plucked from obscurity...totally unprepared for national office. The media coverage she received, and continues to receive, makes her a mega-celebrity...which translates into mega dollars. And she's whining becuase she thinks (incorrectly) that the media didn't comment the same about other candidates? This woman should thank the media every day for making her rich and famous.

Exactly, Irony, she's made entirely of fluff and nuthin, a superficial twit who has been rewarded beyond anything she deserves by a shallow and trivial media, and she's complaining about it.

She may be suffering what happens to many in her place. She's not a cult leader, she's the figurehead put in place by the cult leaders. Sometimes these puppets start to believe the zombies following them, and can actually convince themselves they've done something important.

And where's Hoosier? Shouldn't he/she be here complaining that everybody's obsessed with Sarah of the north?

Watching Palin it becomes obvious how easy it is for those politically connected to power to convince themselves they are victims if they don't get their way.

All of you are right, it is about the money. I can't help but keep linking Sarah with Carrie Prejean. They keep whining about how unfairly they were treated and how liberals are after them because they are strong, Conservative, Christian women (who complain all the time!) It is all about the money. Someone should tell these Conservative, Christian women that strutting, pouting and putting it out for money isn't the behavior of good Conservative, Christian women, but is for a media *ho**e.

Well, Oprah threw nothing but softballs throughout the "interview," didn't bother with even mildly probing follow-up questions, and only sort of pressed the possible 2012 run.

Oprah provided ideal circumstances for Palin to give her cookie cutter answers. Take out Oprah, put in some blond anchor, and this program could have run nearly verbatim on Fox.

Whay would you expect any different? Besides the probablity that sofball questions were a prerequisite for Palin appearing Oprah is not a journalist. She has a daytime talk show that's mostly about fluff. There was never any chance this would be a serious interview. The same will be true of the Barbara Walters interview (although she used to be a journalist.) I predict the most probing question there will be 'If you were a tree what kind of tree would you be?'
