Agreed, why is it narcissistic to say you are the first Pacific president, it isn't like he is saying he is the best president ever, or that he is the decider and can't name one mistake he has made as president.

Yes, and the mean spirited nastiness of Charles Krauthammer is unbounded and reflected in his dour expression. His attempt to make earlier presidents match the unusual biography of Obama would be laughable if not so unnecessary and spiteful. Maybe some ghosts will visit him on Christmas Eve.

Yes. I live in the D.C. area and once a week his column appears in the Washington Post. Before you start reading you know what it is going to say - or at least the tone that will be used to say it. There is no one who takes greater pleasure in trashing the President, as vonbargen says. It is simply nastiness for the sake of nastiness. PERFECT for Fox "News," in other words.

Maybe Obama should have called himself the first Jewish president since all of these unbounded cretins like Krauthammer enjoy calling him the baby Jesus.

this is an example of krauthammer creating a story, where none exists. i missed obama taking credit for all things "pacific". krauthammer says that obama "presumably" grew up in hawaii, which puts krauthammer strongly in the birther camp. under krauthammer's "logic", i (myself)could not call myself an american, because i wasn't there at the founding of this great nation. so, people from hawaii can't call themselves "pacific" because they didn't fight in world war II?? how many times did we hear the bush was a texan? last i checked, bush wasn't defending texas at the alamo. this is a ridiculous argument, and shows that krauthammer has no credibility on any matter.

Most Texans don't have family compounds in Maine, or attend posh schools like Andover Prep.

W's accent is as fake as Larry Hagman's, and he's about as "Texan" as that picante sauce that's made in "Noo York City."

Bush was born in Connecticut. His family moved to Taxes when he was a child. He attended Andover Academy in Massachusetts for prep school (and then Yale for undergrad and Harvard for his MBA). But, certainly you could say he was brought up in the south and north. Clearly Obama is referring to where he was brought up, and nothing of what KRAPHAMMER says address or refutes that. He's an idiot.

Krauthammer obviously confuses being the "First Pacific President" with "The First President to Do Anything on, near or around the Pacific". Talk about your strawmen. Jeesh!

Oh, gee, all those guys you mentioned were born in the eastern part of the U.S., (except Ike) and came to the Pacific after they were adults. The President grew up in Hawaii. He lived there for most of his first 18 years. He does have the warmth and gracious tolerance that I came to see in the Hawaiians I met in three visits to the state. Only Richard Nixon comes anywhere near to being a Pacific President, because he was born and raised in California, and as much as I love California, the attitude isn't quite the same as Hawaii, the 50th state, which Charlie says is "some island in the Pacific." I knew a psychiatrist a while back, she said she watched him on the news and in her opinion, he was completely disconnected from reality.

It's not narcissism on the part of Obama, although I would say it's a bit silly to even bother identifying yourself as a "Pacific President," as though that should give you greater standing in Asia. Silly, but not narcissistic.

Is there anyone of Krauthammer's Zionist ilk that is not terminally narcissistic in the cultish specialism they claim as an entitlement. Anything that detracts from focusing on the specialism of Israel causes a hair-on-fire Rumpelstiltskinian fit of apoplexy.

Krauthammer? I don't think so. He was hatched in a laboratory in a right-wing think tank, I believe. He is the test-tube baby of John Birch and Ronald Reagan.

"And where is Chucky from again?"

I do not know for sure what his birth certificate says, but he is most definitely Israeli, something I'm not allowed to write or say even though this is a "free country".

This angry, insanely homicidal little man reminds me of the wheelchair bound fascist in "Dr. Strangelove".

Ironically Obama's Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel is the son of an Israeli bomb throwing terrorist, something I'm ashamed to say I learned from Michael Savage.

American politics is completely inside out and upside down.

The bitter, malevolent ex-psychiatrist Krauthammer is one of the most intellectually dishonest pundits out there. He has a barely suppressed envy of Barack Obama's success and charisma, and he projects all the combined narcissism and hubris of Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck et al on to Obama. He needs to see a shrink.

Obama was born in the Pacific region, and spend most or all of his childhood life in and around the Pacific in various parts of it. That's all he's saying. Sure those other Presidents did stuff in the Pacific, but who cares? They weren't born there.

I love how Rush Limbaugh stumbled upon the word 'narcissist' in the dictionary and thought it was cool, so now every conservative on the face of the planet is parroting it.

Charles is filled with Rage. Could it be that he is mad at the world and filled with anger & hostility because he feels he was paralyzed at such a young age and robbed of the opportunity to present his infallible genius to the world- unrestrained. He belongs to his last name....what an ugly personality.

Using his logic, every soldier that ever runs for President can now claim to be the first President from whatever country they were serving in during their tour. Well, he pretty much made any relation to the Pacific as having been "from" the Pacific. I guess that means I'm actually FROM Disney World, since I've been there once.
