Read your history - American is a free country, if you don't want to be free and you want the government to control your life - LEAVE!
Furthermore there is nothing wrong with what the President did in bowing to the "Emperor" of Japan. He was in Japan...that's how they greet...it is their custom. I liken it to removing your shoes in someone's house after you enter. Even if you don't take your shoes off at your house, when you come through their door...you adjust to their rules.
Their ignorance is as blinding as Laura Ingraham's cross necklace
Wonder if Hannity and FoxNews could do ONE full hour without their "smears", "lies", and "mis-quotes" about Pres. Obama and the Democrats? What could FoxNews talk about as a "positive" about Democrats, as well as Republicans? Would FoxNews Viewers be lost with "positive" reporting about the American President who's a Democrat for ONE full hour? Wonder what their ratings would be without the "attacks" on the American President who's a Democrat? Hmmm, maybe this is why they do what they do, LOL.
Carl Rove at his absolute best!!

Regardless of your political affiliation, certain practices of the past administration have to be held responsible. The tax break for the wealthiest of our country is a prime example. It is estimated that 1.5 to 2.0 trillion dollars that would have normally been transfered to our federal government via taxes was instead allowed to stay in the hands of our wealthiest. This policy was sold to the public with the assumption that those monies would be reinvested to spur growth and to offset the costs of employee benefit programs. Niether of which in your words "beared fruit". The current ongoing Treasury Department investigation into offshore tax havens is our governments attempt to collect at least some of those lost funds. This does not happen overnight due to many of them falling under laws and regulations of foreign countries. In fact, our government had to sue one of the large swiss banks to obtain names and account information. There have been at least 15,000 of these account holders come forward to be included in the governments amnesty program, which is just a tip of the iceberg. The tax money lost to this one tax break alone would have fully funded Health Insurance Reform for at least 10 years.
The past administrations systematic infiltration of Capitalist Oriented public servants have roots common with Ethnic Cleansing. The best way to ensure your policy goals are reached is to replace key existing public servants regardless of their past performance, with public servants that share your ideology. Once that was accomplished the next step was to reduce the overall number of public servants in lesser oversight positions - this was done to eliminate any attempts to question upper management decisions and was sold to the public as a reduction in government to save tax payer dollars. To replace those positions would have required reinstatement of taxes and the chances of that happening during the Bush years was not likely. This essentially had the same results as nuetering all the bull calves in a herd of cattle but one. There are many government agencies that suffered from the result of these actions - a few that come to mind are the Justice Department, EPA, Dept. of Agriculture, Department of Interior, SEC,etc.
With the groundwork completed there were few tools left at our disposal to use as government oversight mechanisms, we could only hope for the best. As Allen Greenspan quoted under oath "I was wrong in my thinking that private industry would oversee themselves". It wasn't long before the warning signs of a troubled economy began to appear. I know I personally spent many days trying to justify the closure of so many of our military bases, logically it did not make any sense to move the facilites we rely on during national disasters to just a few locations. It did however allow the administration to divert funds ear marked for that use to other areas of government that were now beginning to suffer from a loss of tax revenue. In other words it was the beginning of the "Rob Peter to Pay Paul" Bush years.
The collapse of the housing market was due to many factors and I am not nearly intelligent enough to expound on all the issues, but there is a growing consensus that the lack of oversight in our financial system played a key role. Capitilists were given what amounted to a free pass to government monies through F-Mac and F-Mae which acted like pouring gas on a fire. Loan policy requirements were reduced to the point that anybody with a pulse could qualify for a loan and with the introduction of defered interest payments it allowed monthly house payments to remain low, well at least in the beginning. Hence, a housing boom was in the making.
It didn't take long for the word to get out and soon the rush to build houses was on. People from all walks of life were now investing their lifes savings, childrens education funds, pension funds, etc. in the housing market because of the opportunity to make a quick buck. This continued for several years until the market was absolutely saturated and overbuilt with houses inflated in value because of the perceived demand. Once this became apparent and the housing demand began to fall so did the value. As more and more people realized this there began a stampeed to unload those investments that were now losing money. Now the fire was burning in the opposite direction and the more houses that came on the market for sale the further it reduced the value, and so on, and so on until it collapsed the whole economy.
It is hard to put a dollar amount on the loses incured from the housing market collapse but one thing is very evident - the Bush administration had to take the country deep into debt to cover the loss of tax revenue associated with the loss of jobs, and the loss of tax revenue generated by private fund investments that were lost in the housing market.
Now we find ourselves a country with a large percentage of our population having lost their entire lifes savings. They can no longer afford to spend their money on anything but the bare necessities. This has caused even further job losses in manufacturing and industry which means even further reduction in tax revenue to provide our citizens with the services we have become accustomed to and often take for granted.
President Obama, his administration, and members of congress are implementing steps that will hopefully get our nation on sound footing again. But we must be realistic in our expectations, this in no way is going to happen overnight.
The constant barrage of attacks against the president by the Republican Party and the fringe movement associated with it is a full blown assault that was launched the day of his election. By mixing racist comments with fear mongering they are attempting to turn the focus away from the attrosities they themselves endorsed and transfer blame to this administration.
Sites like MMFA and the people that post on it for the most part, have recognized what is happening and have made a peresonal committment to stay informed to best of their ability in hopes of preventing from achieving their goal.
What's that?
What's That? I know Nixon did not bow in that picture. but the conservatives ripped him apart for visiting Mao.
No arguement Hannity!
