What does Stern mean then by "workers of the world unite?"

I personally am more concerned with AMERICAN workers, you know, the people whose jobs are constantly being outsourced.

Yep. Becky you are right. There is a global Marxism and redistribution of wealth coming. Except you got it wrong. It will be towards and for the RICH and BIG BUSINESS. Which my silly little libertarian friend you are a proud member of! *FACEPALM*

I can understand regulations on businesses that take advantage of the system and people, but are you advocating the redistribution of the wealth of rich citizens as well?

For all of those giving me a thumbs down for ASKING if he means rich citizens, do you think ALL rich citizens have gained their wealth by taking advantage of others?

What about rich people who started poor, and worked for their riches? Why should their wealth have to be redistributed?

Rich people who worked for "their" riches did not do it alone. You'd be hard pressed to find an American business empire that was built without using or relying on transportation infrastructure, communications infrastructure, health care infrastructure, military protection, fire protection, police protection, a publicly educated workforce, and a base of consumers with money to spend.

What about me, who worked loyally all his life, losing my job to outsourcing and after 11 months of unemployment taking a job in Ohio while my family still lives in Texas? I'm the best example I know of what it is like to be an unemployed worker doing whatever it takes to make a living and keeping my family under a roof. What did a single one of those folks you show concern for do for me? I gave them intellectual rights to my patents (12 so far), automated their factories, improved their first pass yield, and helped make their product better, and I was paid bonus's that consisted of worthless stock options and a dry kiss. Over the last 10 years those crybabies took advantage of the crappy job market to pay as little as possible, so excuse me if I don't cry along with them for their sudden misfortune...

I advise you to do a history check in the late 1800 to late 1920's and you will see what I am talking about. Also from 1980 to today you will see a repeat of what happened during the early 20th century.

That's because Beck is a closet Communist. Remember: If you accuse someone of being something, it is generally accepted that you are what you accuse someone else of being

I have worked in the IT industry for 20 years now and have seen a steady flow of work going to India.

I read that we are losing 200,000 jobs a year in IT oursourcing or offshoring.... 200,000 jobs a year and they estimate 13.5 million jobs sent offshore by 2015.

Now the SEIU doesn't cover IT workers, but to my many friends who jump from job to job because their company keeps outsourcing their job... I know they wish they were in a union.

As the number of highly educated people who speak English in India continues to increase, so will the flow of jobs to their country. This, combined with advances in overseas communication and unlimited trade restrictions, ensures that not even the most highly-skilled positions are safe. There are U.S. companies that are now outsourcing engineering and research to Indian firms.

Save America's manufacturing base. Buy Non-Union. By purchasing goods and services from non-unions companies, you give employment to people who come to the job and give an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. Unlike most union employees who are only there for the inflated paycheck and really do not care about the quality of their work. Non-Union employees are more diligent about what they do and know that if they screw up they will be fired. Whereas union employees know that if they screw up, they will still have a job because the union will threaten to go out on strike if the employee is fired. Non-Union employees accept what they are offered for pay and benefits and are grateful for their jobs, whereas union employees want as much money as they can get and want their benefits handed to them for free.

I love the part where he implies that incompetent employees always have the union and the threat of strike to fall back on. Unbelievable. When I was a union member, myself and the other employees often found ourselves harping about how management still hasn't fired someone who is clearly incompetent. Union members stick together and look out for each other, but they DON'T want to work along side people who are incompetent and/or regularly present a safety hazard.

America's manufacturing base? What do we manufacture anymore. Because of non-union companies, it was way too easy to ship all manufacturing overseas.

If it weren't for Federal regulations and import taxes, there would be almost no automobile manufacturing in this country.

But don't worry... if things continue the way things are, we will become a nation of cheap labor... that's when the manufacturing jobs will come back.

As a former union sheet metal worker who came home dirty, bruised and exhausted from 10 hours of welding, grinding and hammering in a sweltering shop night after night for 10 straight years, I would love more than anything to explicitly tell you what you can go do to yourself, but the forum rules prohibit it.

I've never encountered a union contract that stated a company can't fire an incompetent worker. And in union shops, everything has to be in the contract to be enforceable.

Did you get your vast knowledge of organized labor from Rush Limbaugh?

I know many people who went to school to learn computer programming. Worked their way up the ladder and learned new technologies as they became used. DBAs, COBOL Programmers, JAVA, etc...

They developed efficient and complex systems that helped large Non-Union companies grow and be more profitable... and as soon as a salesmen presented to the board how they could save 25% of their IT Support costs, they fired their programmers and outsourced their work.

When I hear the right scream, "Where are the jobs". I think, the Bush administration let them ship to India without retribution... I read they estimate about 1 Million jobs since 2004... think about that when they attack President Obama about an additonal 50,000 jobs lost... where were they when 1 million jobs disappeared.

The redistribution of wealth has already taken place and all these accusations are only smoke screens to avert our attention from that fact. Instead of the wealth going from the top to the bottom it actually went from the bottom to the top. The whole Bush Era was filled with nothing but failed experiments in capitalism - from the tax breaks for the wealthiest to the lack of government oversight on our financial system which led to the collapse of the housing market and nearly took our country over the edge.

To cover the loss in tax revenue they had to take our country deep into debt. These are not accusations they are pure facts. They can no longer tout their unrestricted free market principals as being the solution to all problems related to America - they had their opporunity, it failed, and we are paying for it dearly.
