The right wing crackpots always seem to forget who ran up the majority of the national debt. Geez, I wonder why?

YES Hume! Lets not forget the doors Reagan, GHWB, Clinton, and GWB kicked down and blew away!

I find it funny that they do not blame any past presidents and Congress members for the failure of our Economy and overall respect our country had. HEY HUME! I got a question for you! Why don't you answer why Glass-Stiegel got kicked out the way for that crap Bill Clinton signed in 1999? That was a invitation for the failure of our economy!

And GWB's unprecedented under the radar borrowing from our new landlords in communist China to keep his rich tax cut buddies happy and fund two wars while FOX NEWS kept feeding "heartland" conservatives the illusion that Bush was a true "smaller government and lower taxes" Republican as the economy finally went careening of the cliff.

Yes, the nation with by far the most powerful military force ever assembled, with weapons that far exceed the rest of the world combines, the nation that has armies all over the world and currently occupies two Muslim countries, the nation who could obliterate all of humanity in a matter of hours; that nation is weak because a single man bent at the waist towards a country we previously destroyed with two atomic bombs and with who we've been at peace with for 65 years.

It's hard to imagine a more insecure, fearful, bed-wetting bunch of pansies than the cowards at Fox News.

This "weakness" theme is one that I find amazing, even coming from desperate propagandists like Hume.I guess they'll throw anything against the wall, they know how gullible their audience is.

At least BS like the "Socialism vs. American Free Market" line, as ridiculous of a false dichotomy as it is, I can see how it works; Ill-informed working stiffs can be convinced that they're not rich because of lazy welfare leeches who choose not to work. It's silly, but I can see the appeal to the victim mentality, racist, wealthy-worshipping type.

But this idea that observance of normal customs,( bowing, shaking hands, accepting gifts, behaving like an adult) and dealing honestly with America's faults and mistakes, as well as our achievements and successes, is showing weakness, seems almost too childish even for Fox.

I guess nobody's going to lose any bets by underestimating the right wing media.

You know it's not just Fox on this one though. "This Week" on ABC talked about how the President was showing weakness.

Personally, I don't understand what "appearing" weak has to do with anything. I fail to see how bowing amounts to policy concessions. Is the President conceding something to those countries? That's where the real worry might lie, but there's no evidence to indicate that's whats happening.

These pundits are scared of what the appearance of weakness potentially means. To me, that FEAR IS WEAKNESS.

Britt Hume is well aware of the resonance of the term "bowing and scraping" in the history of Black people in America, which is precisely why he chose that language. Just another bit of racist subtext from your friends at Fox.

My reaction exactly...amazing this type of fairly well known racial terminology(like uppity, simian references etc.)gets used time and time again by conservatives/republican in connection with the POTUS and 1st Lady and the users (even one as old as Hume) just have no idea why it is seen as racially insensitive if not racist( who knows the motivation).Bowing and scraping - just think Stepinfetchit/Amos & Andy!!!

Of course not. Hell, they didn't even complain when Bush kissed and held hands:

If these ignorant people knew anything about the Asian culture, they would know that bowing is the only acceptable form of greeting, formal or informal. Hand shaking is frowned upon because hands are considered unclean.

What's up with the Republican tough guy act? Nobody likes the guy who needs to put everyone else in their place and announce how bad they are. We usually call these types a certain type of hole.

Could someone please explain to me why it is so wrong to show respect of this manner to other leaders around the world? It seems nothing more than common courtesy to me, and, frankly, I'm rather impressed that we have a president whom is able to behave respectfully towards other world leaders. In my opinion, it doesn't show as an image of weakness, but rather one of understanding of other cultures. Then again, maybe I'm completely wrong.

Now, somebody please remind me, was that an actual news program or one of the many opinionated talk shows?

The hyperbole is the same. If somebody could actually point out what differentiates the two then I might have a semblance of respect for Fox.

Well, by the looks of this panel they seem to feel that respect must be given instead of earned.

They probably would've been more satisfied if Obama pointed a gun at the Emperor and made him bow instead.
