Becky... do you mean Old Testament God?

Leviticus 23, 18: And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD.

Or did you mean New Testament God, you know the who who would damn Goldman Sachs:

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves

Or do you mean the poor and downtrodden that you blame for choosing not having heath insurance and for being poor and without.

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Or were you referring to Allah
Surely your Lord knows that you pass in prayer nearly two-thirds of the night, and (sometimes) half of it, and (sometimes) a third of it, and (also) a party of those with you; and Allah measures the night and the day. He knows that you are not able to do it, so He has turned to you (mercifully), therefore read what is easy of the Quran. He knows that there must be among you sick, and others who travel in the land seeking of the bounty of Allah, and others who fight in Allah's way, therefore read as much of it as is easy (to you), and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and offer to Allah a goodly gift, and whatever of good you send on beforehand for yourselves, you will find it with Allah; that is best and greatest in reward; and ask forgiveness of Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. (The Wrapped Up 73.20)

Personally, I'd like to follow Warren Zevon. Bring Lawyers, Guns and Money.

          Don't let us get sick
          Don't let us get old
Don't let us get stupid, all right
          Just make us be brave

And let us be together tonight

        k1dork:

        God: To each his own.
Guns: If you like. I'm more of a fan of swords. They actually take skill and discipline to use, for one thing.
Gold: The love of money is the root of all evil, not money itself.

Of course, I don't describe myself as liberal or conservative, but I have no problem with any of the 'Gs' in Mr. Beck's statement. His implication that we need to stockpile weapons and precious metal because the end of the world is nigh based on his apparent belief that Barrack Obama is the Antichrist is humorous, theologically unfounded, and a bit dangerous to those who take him seriously rather than viewing him as a failed comedian. But then, that particular crowd is also in danger around pointy objects.

Good luck with that. Gold is in a bubble right now and it's going to burst eventually. Not sure how God is going to save our country although I will be interested to hear Becky's theories. Does God love America more than other countries? Guns we've got plenty of and nobody is trying or planning to try to take them away so I'm not exactly sure what he means by that. Certainly not some sort of violence because as he keeps saying all we need is some crazy to go out and start shooting people. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use the guns he's encouraging you to stockpile for anything violent.

I think a "normal" person (not that Eddie is normal) might have a gun for self defense. In a collapse, anything could happen and most things that could happen would not be for the best.

Most of my cop buddies tell me that they think the worst thing a person can do is have a gun "for self-defense." Statistics show that most incidents of homeowners being injured with a gun are injured by their own guns.

The solution offered to recession and depression oddly make sense coming from a "rodeo clown." Unfortunately, as seen in other countries in the past, a collapse could possibly result in anarchy, in which one might fall back on one, two or three of the "Gs" mentioned.
Hey, even though he made sense on two of the three, Eddie Haskell Beck gave MMFA some solid material.

The only personal debt I have are my house payments and my vehicle. I pay an extra 65.00 a month on my car payment and an extra 50.00 a month on my house payment in order to get them paid off sooner. I live very frugally. You might go back and read my comments which had NOTHING whatsoever to do with what you posted.

My comments were to Beck's stupid reference to himself as a "rodeo clown." That is an insult to rodeo clowns everywhere. They are selfless, brave individuals who lay their lives on the line every time they get into the arena. Beck is simply a clown and not a very funny one.

As to your debt load, good for you. I'm down to a house payment only, with a plan to get that taken care of in the near future (less than 5 years).
If the thumb down was from you and for the "rodeo clown" reference, then I accept that, if the others were for the debt reduction, savings references, my "sad, so sad" still stands.

Beck "Three G's" solution to possible U.S. economic "collapse": "God, Gold, and Guns"

Um. Lets see God - Yep lets include the rule of religion in politics. Something the founding fathers did not even want in political play, but don't say that too loud.

Gold - Well since GWB used the tax cuts and the war on the inflation price of gold, no one knew how much his two programs really cost. Oops we do now!

Guns - Yep we already have militas already threatening the president and forming all across the country. YES A REVOLT!

Yep Becky that is the only solution to prevent economic collapse.

Maybe I missed it, but scrolling through these posts, I didnt' see anyone point out that Beck, like pretty much every radio yakker out there, makes commercials for Gold brokers. When he's predicting the collapse of the American economy, he's just making a sponsor happy. Thom Hartmann, Randi Rhodes, Stephanie Miller-- they all do this. Hartmann especially has no problem talking about the impending collapse of the US economy and then using that fear to pimp for Gold.

None of these people has any credibility on the subject of the economy, precisely because they've agreed to push investment in gold as a "hedge against inflation" and then used their shows to stoke fear of economic collapse.

Don't get me wrong; Blenn Geck is a total nutcase, and I never thought I'd find myself defending a single word of his maniacal cesspool of a show.

However, I wish that more political pundits would promote the fact that people DO need to be getting out of debt and start saving. There's a major issue in our society with people simply buying too much crap. For the first time since the depression, the average rate of savings per family is BELOW ZERO. There's something seriously wrong with this.

Again, I'd like to reiterate that Glenn Beck is insane and very little of his spoken idiocy should be taken seriously.
