Cory Booker has done a fantastic job for newark. He is one of the few liberal mayors of cities that I know - talk about a project in poverty and crime.
When did california go under??? Damn, I wonder if my cousin is okay.
I would hope Booker runs for the senate and maybe even VP some point soon. That guy is brilliant. He is like Obama the candidate but that is who he would likely be as VP as well.
Sort of like Guam, only bigger and with states attached to your eastern and northern border.
And another country attached to the bottom.
OT, Worrierking, but did you see your man Dobbs on the Daily Show? The mariachi band playing the theme on his entrance was great.
The good news is that Lou's thinking of making a run for the presidency, now everyone can enjoy his rude awakening as his chances plummet to earth.
I was afraid he'd only run for the senate and only us New Jersey people would see the show,.
Reagan predicted that if Medicare was passed, it would lead to socialized medicine. That was 40 years ago, how long do these predictions take?
Reminds me of the line in the The Men Who Stare At Goats movie trailer about a 'martial arts expert' who could use a special 'punch' that would kill you... eighteen years later.
Beck not only did not oppose the bailout, he said we had to do this or else it would be total disaster... but he also said that it wasn't enough. He said the true bailout will be in the magnitude of $3 Trillion and that in the end it would bankrupt the country.
Well, we are 14 months later and not only was he wrong. The bailout has cost us just under $400 billion so far, and that includes the GM/Chrysler bail outs...
Excerpts from the transcript
The "REAL STORY" is the $700 billion that you`re hearing about now is not only, I believe, necessary, it is also not nearly enough, and all of the weasels in Washington know it.
When you start to realize that the term "bad assets" is soon going to apply from everything for credit card balances to your home equity loan to your car loan, you name it, it`s going to add up. The real bailout number is probably going to be about three times higher, probably going to be at least $2 trillion or more.
I have said this to you over and over again. You`ve got to prepare. I am not a financial adviser. I`m a dope. I`m a rodeo clown. I`m a recovering alcoholic who spends way too much, saves way too little. I`m just trying to get by, just like you are, on the little bit of knowledge that I have.
The last time I checked he bashed California about the marijuana issue then changed his mind (hypocrite). Plus in 1849 California was admitted into the union and became part of the United States.
Yes Becky states are protected under the consititution, but if their political schemes are harming the people there, then the federal government can step in. Which in this case they need to especially with the water situation out there being seiged out their by a corporation and it is rumored that the state's reps are bought off! Will you talk about that Becky????
Two - if you want to see wasted tax payer money and government bureaucracy like none other, live in a city like Houston or Dallas for a year, and count the number of times you see road construction. And how many times you see dozens of road construction workers just standing around doing absolutely nothing. And how many times they tear up a road, rebuild it, and then tear it up again several months later. It's all pork for road construction and concrete companies close to conservative representatives.
Three - Texas makes a pretty penny off of all the oil it imports and refines, and then exports. Does anyone REALLY believe that the cost of oil went up to record levels simply because of a few storms in the Gulf... or because of an "independent" OPEC? Get real.
