So the reporter wasn't being petty or spoiled in demanding he get special treatment and an answer to a question that had nothing to do with why they were at a press conference in the first place?

I just don't understand why he's being attacked for thoughtfully trying to figure out the mess in Afghanistan.

But then, we had Cheney, who is cold and could probably send soldiers to their death with no thought at all.

Why not suggest to your boss that he put his mountain of money where his mouth is and run for office like his hero Ronald Reagan or his nemesis Al Franken?

Then he might have a tad more insight when making these sorts of observations

Why would he have to back it up? Palin never did. Her supporters can't point to a single thing she's ever done or supported, but they love her anyways because they think she's living and breathing conservatism at its finest. The reichwhiners are sheep and their masters know there will never be a shortage of wool with that lot.

So you want to know what Governer Palin did...well here it is:

1- Democrats forget when Palin was the Darling of the Democrats, because as soon as Palin took the Governor's office away from a fellow Republican and tough SOB, Frank Murkowski, she tore into the Republican's "Corrupt Bastards Club" (CBC) and sent them packing. Many of them are now residing in State housing and wearing orange jump suits The Democrats reacted by skipping around the yard, throwing confetti and singing, "la la la la" (well, you know how they are). Name another governor in this country that has ever done anything similar.

2- Now with the CBC gone, there were fewer Alaskan politicians to protect the huge, giant oil companies here. So she constructed and enacted a new system of splitting the oil profits called "ACES." Exxon (the biggest corporation in the world) protested and Sarah told them, "don't let the door hit you in the stern on your way out." They stayed, and Alaska residents went from being merely wealthy to being filthy rich. Of course, the other huge international oil companies meekly fell in line. Again, give me the name of any other governor in the country that has done anything similar.

3- The other thing she did when she walked into the governor's office is she got the list of State requests for federal funding for projects, known as "pork." She went through the list, took 85% of them and placed them in the "when-hell-freezes-over" stack. She let locals know that if we need something built, we'll pay for it ourselves. Maybe she figured she could use the money she got from selling the previous governor's jet because it was extravagant. Maybe she could use the money she saved by dismissing the governor's cook (remarking that she could cook for her own family), giving back the State vehicle issued to her, maintaining that she already had a car, and dismissing her State provided security force (never mentioning - I imagine - that she's packing heat herself). I'm still waiting to hear the names of those other governors.

4- Now, even with her much-ridiculed "gosh and golly" mannerism, she also managed to put together a totally new approach to getting a natural gas pipeline built which will be the biggest private construction project in the history of North America. No one else could do it although they tried. If that doesn't impress you, then you're trying too hard to be unimpressed while watching her do things like this while baking up a batch of brownies with her other hand..

5- For 30 years, Exxon held a lease to do exploratory drilling at a place called Point Thompson. They made excuses the entire time why they couldn't start drilling. In truth they were holding it like an investment. No governor for 30 years could make them get started... This summer, she told them she was revoking their lease and kicking them out. They protested and threatened court action. She shrugged and reminded them that she knew the way to the court house. Alaska won again.

6- President Obama wants the nation to be on 25% renewable resources for electricity by 2025. Sarah went to the legislature and submitted her plan for Alaska to be at 50% renewables by 2025. We are already at 25%. I can give you more specifics about things done, as opposed to style and persona. Everybody wants to be cool, sound cool and look cool. But that's just a cover-up. I'm still waiting to hear from liberals the names of other governors who can match what mine has done in two and a half years. I won't be holding my breath.

By the way, she was content to return to AK after the national election and go to work, but the haters wouldn't let her. Now these adolescent screechers are obviously not scuba divers. And no one ever told them what happens when you continually jab and pester a barracuda. Without warning, it will spin around and tear your face off. Shoulda known better.

You have just read the truth about Sarah Palin that sends the media, along with the democrat party, into a wild uncontrolled frenzy to discredit her. I guess they are only interested in skirt chasers, dishonesty, immoral people, liars, womanizers, murderers, and bitter ex-presidents' wives.

So "You go, Girl." I only wish the men in Washington had your guts, determination, honesty, and morals.

I feel dumb for having listened to that. There was no rational at all behind that attack. It was just an attack. I would like to say it was not provoked at all but it seems sense and sensibility is provocative to this man. This was an example of just attacking for the sake of attacking Obama. Truly undeniable loathing of a man for simply existing. I cannot understand where such hate can come from. I really feel I don't know anything about humans anymore.

Is this guy still being broadcast on the Armed Forces Network?

I mean, is he broadcasting these insults of the Commander in Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, is he broadcasting them to U.S. Troops in the field or elsewhere?

In truth I guess it doesn't really matter... when you broadcast your political opinions (however malicious and insulting) on the narrowly held and precious Public Airwaves, broadcast them by way of the extraordinarily rare privilege of an FCC License, then just about everybody everywhere (in the U.S. Armed Forces or not) hears those opinions, don't they.

Hey Julia, good to see your words too. No, I don't have as much cause to know what's going on in our wicked American media these days, or as much cause to comment on that wickedness, as I did last year at this time. The broom of Democracy swept out the Bush Cheney administration (swept out a possible McCain Palin administration), and swept Congressional Republicans into an ineffectual corner... and that's all good. But I knew none of that fixed anything for long, as these people (Palin etc) never actually go away, they just wait on the sidelines until their turn at bat comes again... and taking turns at administrative and Congressional power, is what Democrats and Republicans in DC seem to perpetually do (much to our political misfortune). I knew that as much as Republicans had been reduced politically by the 2008 and 2006 national elections, they had been reduced simply to their 'media power' (beck hannity limbaugh power), which is still a lot of political power in America.

Anyway, it's a year from then, and a year from the next national elections, and the noise is being cranked up and will just get louder and louder, and so maybe we're seeing a necessary and expected return to eavesdropping on our wicked American media, and commenting complaining criticizing ridiculing and otherwise calling it what it is, in places like this.

The question I asked wasn't empty or rhetorical, by the way... it's substantial and important: why are the Public Airwaves (on which no American has any right to broadcast, the need of an FCC License being the proof of that), why does limbaugh beck hannity etc dominate those airwaves with their malicious political opinions, whereas you and I and everybody we know is shut out of and excluded from the same forum and platform?

Again, it's not a rhetorical question... it goes someplace important, it addresses a real and serious problem, and deserves not just a little discussion and not just a few comments (by me or you or anybody else who cares about these things).

Yes (sigh). He is braodcasting his Hater Aid filled rants on Armed Forces Radio. But he is legally allowed to do it. You see Fox News sued for the right to lie and won. "In February 2003, a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously agreed with an assertion by FOX News that there is no rule against distorting or falsifying the news in the United States....During their appeal, FO argued that, under the First Amendment, broadcasters have the"right to lie"or deliberately distort news reports on public airwaves. Fox attorneys did not dispute Akre's claim that they pressured her to broadcast a false story, they simply maintained that it was their right to do so."
This allows Rush and all of the other Hater Aid drinkers their right to distort, lie, and smear without fear of official reprisal.

NEWSFLASH RUSH - We didnt get the job done! remember mission accomplished? Remember the year on the calendar when we first invaded afghanistan? I DO! What did bush say again moron? It may take a week, a month, a few, something like that. HERE WE ARE EIGHT YEARS LATER RUSH! Bush failed - he sucked. Going down as one of the worst presidents in the history of this country. For me, he is right there with hoover, harding, Pierce, buchanan and Andrew Johnson. In a decade or so, he will likely be ranked the worst in within 3 of the worst presidents of all time.

A lot of things have happened in the Bush administration. When Bush left office, historians rated him as roughly the sixth worst president of all time. I think that things have come up in the Bush administration after he was out of Office that may demonstrate that Bush should be placed in an even lower position. One article has already rated him as the worst president ever (a Rolling Stone article by a prominent historian). If we look at all the information on torture, the disdain for science, it may not be long before Bush was awarded the bottom spot.

Just look at what everyone else did and judge whether Bush did worse. Last rating i saw had Bush at 36 out of 42. Fillmore is 37 - he signed the fugitive slave law act which required all slaves escaping to the north to be returned. He was never actually elected to the presidency, served 3 years and after retiring advocated for secession. He was an excellent foreign diplomat and resolved all serious disputes both foreign and domestic in a time of building turmoil. He ended up splitting his party when he tried to re-run.

Harding is ranked 38. Took over after WWI winning a landslide election. Hardings policies were effective and not controversial (advocated for civil rights, established veteran affairs department, added to treaty of versailles, established modern fed budget) but his administration was rocked with scandal and particularly involved bribery and extortion. Some of the admin served prison sentences.Harding was never implicated in the scandals although his involvement is unclear. Harding did not profit for these crimes.

Harrison is ranked 39 but only served a month in office so he doesn't count. Pierce is 40 with his very divisive political decisions - he re-opened possible expansion of slavery to the west and advocated imperialism through force supporting the US purchase Cuba from spain and said the US would declare war on spain if refused. Europe and the north decried such espousing of violence in the name of land conquest. He supported the confederacy, destroyed his reputation and struggled with alcoholism. He was extremely friendly, polite, thoughtful and easy-going. He purchased southern new mexico and arizona. Pierce recognized some shadow gov't formed in missouri. He constantly defended slavery and the south was seen as manipulated and destroyed his political career.

Andrew Johnson was the first president to be impeached at 41 and VP to Lincoln but from the south he stayed with the admin during secession. He took charge of reconstruction but conceding much to the south, immediately incorporting the south back into the union and vetoed civil rights legislation which destroyed him among republicans who controlled congress and was an independent in office. Historians believe he was a white supremacist who sided with the confederates by derailing reconstruction and basic civil rights leg.

Buchanan is ranked dead last and was the pres before lincoln. He was never married. He was seen as a north-south compromise. A northerner with southern sympathies from penn. Buchanan's efforts just widened the gap between the north and the south doing nothing to temper the gaping divide. When the south declared seccession, buchanan thought both secession and going to war with the south was illegal so he died nothing and he ended up splitting his democratic party in two. Dred scott decision came right after inauguration declaring it unconstitutional for congress to limit the expansion of slavery. Lincoln denounced his support of the decision as upholding nationalization of slavery. Buchanan openly advocated for kansas to be a slave state in return for votes as bribes as a whole-hearted supporter of slavery and the south's rights over the north even battling the north congressman openly in congress. There was also a recession and buchanan decided to deal with deficit financing. There was rumors of rebellion in utah which buchanan sent the army to take down but there was no real rebellion and the army was wholly inadequate. When repubs gained control of the house they just sent bills that were constantly vetoed by buchanan. He just watched as each state seceded to form the confederacy. When south carolina opened fire on a union steamer, buchanan did NOTHING to prepare for war! He never actually wanted to be nominated for the presidency and two months later gladly left office.

So is buchanan actually better than bush? He certainly was in a far more difficult place in history. I think it is likely bush is the second to worst president in history.
