These guys are SOOOO scared of these trials, and I can't, for the life of me, figure out why. They act as if terrorist supporters are going to bum rush the courthouse once the trial starts to break out their buddies, and are going to destroy NYC in one fell swoop.
Oh, the horror!!! Protestors!!! Will we ever be safe ever again!!!
Gee, Dick, how many people do you think there are who are unaware of that ideology. Do you really think there is a danger that they will win converts?
I sure wish Dick's supporters were smart enough to understand all the contradictions in this dolt's rhetoric.
Yes, a "progressive" on Air America radio endorsing lynch law "justice." Not Liberalism's proudest moment, that's for sure. I was beyond disgusted.
Why go through a trial? BECAUSE WE ARE A DEMOCRACY! Nazi war crimes were CRIMES DURING WAR!!! Terrorism is a crime during peace time. The military had nothing to do with 9/11 until the aftermath. Why would we try them in front of a military tribunal. Was mcveigh and Nichols or kazinsky put in front of a military tribunal. They were also terrorists. There is no difference here. You stick with what is established as the rule of law. Changing it does just because they are not American citizens seems arbitrary and not at all constitutional or democratic.
I think this sends a strong and powerful message to the world. After 8 years of horrendous abuse of power and all sorts of constitutional travesties and illegal and immoral acts, we once again have a chance to prove to the world that we have faltered from our ideals but we have not totally abandoned them because it may or may not be convenient.
We are doing this the right way, the true American way of Equal justice under the law. I think GW and TJ would be proud of such a sight. Instead of taking the easy way out and abandoning the very ideals that maDE THE American democracy stand strong for over 200 years, when the situation becomes tumultuous, instead of choosing convenience, we are embracing the very fabric on which our constitution is written. I know for the first time in quite a while, I am very proud of this country's decision. And it will mean so much more to the families of the victims I think to watch murderers of their families and loved ones be brought to justice only blocks from the scene of the terrible tragedy.
