Now that speaks volumes about this "declaration".
Finally, I think religion impedes moral, social and scientific progress in this nation and throughout the globe. There is a time and place for religion - in church, temple, mosque or in one's own home. Please refrain from bringing your warped religious ideology into the public domain as often as possible. RAMPANT SECULARISM ALL THE WAY!
Who knew?
After Coultergiest's smear the night before. Bill'O is running to the finish line with this one.
Also why does FOX Snooze always get advice from Karl Rove all the time. Rove should be like G. Gordon Liddy. A FELON!
To me, its not that rove shouldnt be working at FOX or even if they did hire him, i dont care about blasting stephanopolus for taking an anchor role while rove currently works for fox and then, failing to mention Rove when discussing people closely connected with the white house working for news media. That is all irrelevant. Fact is, Rove should be in jail - he was embroiled in about 10 different controversies and scams. There is no doubt in my mind he committed multiple felonies in his time in the white house and I dont even think it would be hard to prove. Obama is totally failing at this whole progressive change thing - the first thing any liberal would do is hold the bush administration accountability for any crimes committed against the country or humanity.
They cannot proclaim that they seek justice and reach out to the oppressed when they deny abortions or gay rights. Its ridiculous - the two are quite contradictory! You cannot oppose contraception to prevent the spread of HIV and then, claim they reach out to the suffering. Again, contradictory remarks.
Frankly, this is an assault to the constitution which directly say that religion should not interfere with any part of government.
Who wrote this crap?
I am a Christian. I am involved in Disaster Relief. I volunteered in Pascagula MS, Bay St Louis MS, Lakeshore MS(twice), Pasedina TX and Macon GA. I also am a 10 year volunteer in Operation Christmas Child. We have sent almost 2,000 shoeboxes to children in over 100 countrties. I have helped establish a local clinic that works with other committed Christians to minister to the underinsured in Milledgeville, GA. I am currently trying to expand the work.
I do this because I love Christ and his teachings. Without my love and devotion to him, I would be the man drinking himself to death or chasing your girlfriend.
I do agree that the average church member hasn't earned the right to tell you that Jesus is the way. Most are too imature to handle real religion.
As for demaning others, I have not yet signed the document in question.
I was demeaned when prayer was ruled against
I was demeaned when I was to that I couldn't speak of Jesus an keep my job
I was demeaned when handing one a Bible is considered illegal.
I was demeaned when my children could not have a Christmas Party at school.
I was demeaned when my friends called me a freak
I was demeaned in a gas station when a customer ahead of me told someone that religious people like me were @#$%. He didn't even know me.
I was demeaned when I can not longer speak in terms of right and wrong.
I was hurt when my daughter told me had to write essays in favor of the gay agenda or face the consequences.
Well the constitution is a great document, but is not my Bible. Many committed Christians are living with the fear that we are but one reintepritation of the law from fines and/or imprisonment. So we will fly against the dying of the light.
We do not deny abortions, they have been ocurring in clinics for a while now. It is the leading cause of death among blacks. Please don't use my direct tax dollars. As for Gay rights, you already have them. Calling gays married will never be the same as heterosexual marriage anyway. Not until gays can give birth to their own. You will never hear gay couples say,"that cute nose comes from my side of the family."
Christianity should be as far removed from government policy as a lake from the middle of the sahara.Isnt it enough we already have a few fanatically right christian idiots occupying space for what should be a congressman?
The church constantly pushes against progress. They refuse to change some stale political beliefs that are never, ever advocated in the bible but rather their warped interpretation of such words. I REALLY DESPISE RELIGION SOMETIMES - The venom that poisons our national debates and political discussions. READ THE FIRST AMENDMENT WRITERS OF THIS REFUSE - we do not want your bible input in our laws!
Who is telling them that they have to marry gay people in their church? Again, nobody.
Who is telling them that life isn't sacred? Again, nobody.
Is someone making christians get abortions? Nope, of course not, not even close.
These people are nuts. They are more than free to worship as they see fit. They are more than free to not have abortions. They are also free to not have gay people get married under their religion and in their church.
Everything apparently that they think they aren't getting, and or are losing their freedoms about, they're not. It's ridiculous. Poor picked upon vast majority again. Jeesh.. What a bunch of whiners.
They should also stop allowing for abortion in the case of rape, incest, or the health of the mother.
Until they do, they should shut their pie holes.
Save your crocodile tears.
The problem is that it's not enough that Christians don't support these things, but they don't want anyone else (non-Christians) to support them either. What they want is to influence government rulings according to their religious moral principles, reigniting the relationship of Church and State, which is something that the modern North American finds distasteful, dangerous, and unacceptable.
So Christians: go embrace your manifesto! If its important to you to live a pure Christian life according to the values in this manifesto, then get to it! But don't tell me, a non-Christian, how I should live my life or set my moral values for me and I'll do the same.
Mutual respect, not mutual agreement, is how we learn to live together in relative peace.
