AARP HAS 40 MILLION MEMBERS! A group that big could not really be classified as liberal or conservative. Im sure there are many of both.

AARP supports health care reform. Therefore, in Billo's warped mind, they're liberal.

Logic would say that AARP consists of old people. And a majority of old people are conservative.

I think a significant chunk of O'Reilly's viewership is over 60. I wonder if his ratings will go down as a result.

People who watch o'reilly, beck and hannity as actual news sources would likely have no where else to turn to get news. This is why FOX is so damaging to the political discourse. The loyal FOX viewer who buys into any of this garbage probably around 95 percent of the time, solely relies on FOX to get their information or in this case, misinformation. If they want to stay in the dark about reality and facts, they wouldn't turn away from these shows so easily. Most of these wack jobs somehow convinced themselves that FOX is THE ONLY honest and truthful media course available (except talk radio) and that everything else is just lies.

I would see how that would be necessary as most of FOX is either contradicting other news shows or just so far off on a tangent of conspiracy theory propaganda, there is no way any one else would be covering such insanity. So they have to think EVERY OTHER MEDIA SOURCE AVAILABLE is not reliable. To me, such a thought is just insanity itself but I cant even pretend to understand these teabaggers. My point is they are hooked on fox unless they want to change their entire ideology.

If an organization that targets seniors starts sending me junk mail, then is informed that I'm only in my 30's, then responds by selling my name and address to every hearing aid company, mobility scooter dealer, retirement home and senior survival workshop in the country, the last thing I'd ever consider them to be is "liberal."

How'd you come up with Liberal? If a company that targets seniors but you are in your 30's sold your name to get all of that stuff certainly wouldn't be Liberal, they would just be incompetent.

The AARP is a lobbying organization. They fill thier bank accounts with affinty fees that are collected from the companies that they refer. Hotels, restaurants, etc.... Now, the health ins. company that AARP refers its members to is United Health Care. If medicare cuts happen, as promised in this healthcare bill, the medicare gap insurance will become vital to seniors....Hmmmmmm Let me summerize..AARP backs the bill that cuts medicare funding (benefits). Now its members will need to purchase Medicare gap insurance from United Health Care which pays AARP a fee for every policy sold to an AARP member. This is not a left or right wing issue.(?) This is corporate greed by AARP, which the majority of its board members have/had affiliations with the Democratic Party in some way.

The thing is, AARP is looking out for its members. Of course they will support someone who is going to improve the benefits and lifestyles of senior citizens. If McCain had said he was going to give $500 billion over the next 10 yrs to increase Social Security and Medicare benefits, and Obama only promised $5 million, the AARP would have supported McCain. What BillO and Jossel fail to realize is that AARP is going to do what is good for its members, as opposed to following a Republican party line like BillO and Jossel think they should.

While I agree with you that the AARP will do what they think is best for their members, some of their members do not need the protections that you state. They simply are all not poor, but will be taxed to make up for the shortcomings of other members. But the fact that the employees of AARP overwhelming supported Obama is a bit telling.

AARP is a lobbying oranization that now is the posterchild for corporate greed. It is primarily funded through a referral program. ie., hotels, restaurants, etc. So, when you think that its members a great deal every time they use that AARP Card, it may be, but doubtful. More importantly the AARP also collects a fee from that company. So, why would the AARP back this healthcare bill that cuts funding to medicare?? Hmmmmmm I will try to be brief. AARP backs a bill that cuts funding (benefits) to its members medicare. Why? It doesnt make sense!! Because it will now collect a fee from each ins. company that will now need to sell medicare gap coverage to its members. This is corporate greed in the worst sense of the phrase. They have sold out its members for the almighty dollar. Watch, in the next 5 years its profits will increase while its membership will fall.
