Slavery and segregation were controlling the lives of men, women and children and, as I recall, progressives put and end to that. Conservatives were p!ssed.

The goal of the Progressive is to insure that everyone is treated equally, fairly, and humanely.

Our society is judged by how we treat the least among us. Our society needs to be caring, compassionate, fair and just.

The idea of "control of your life" is repeated by not just Beck but all the Neocons and I just don't see how they justify it.

Again... just another scare tactic... I wish they would give a single example of this mythical "control"

I don't want to buy gas because I hate the oil companies, but "control" me because I live in southern California and need to get to work. Damn Oil Companies just want to control our lives!.../sarcasm

I suggest you do so reading into the roots of your "progressive" movement around 1910-1925.

Control is a word that will keep popping up in your enlightened mind as you educate yourself on what your fellow travelers were working towards and had planned for us Americans.

If they had their way, you may never have been born.

Hmm, I ran a search on "progressive movement 1910-1925" and The New Race Consciousness was the fourth entry that came up. Nothing new about the fact that racism has a very long history in this country, not is it especially surprising that people back then sought to use scientific knowledge to improve everybody's lives. Nah, I don't see any reason to condemn progressives in particular.

When life becomes fair and equal let me know.

The only thing that comes of trying to force fairness and equality is injustice and more inequality.

To further elaborate on Tbone's point, you should look into American Progressivism and Eugenics.

I think he has more than one book full of paranoia and nonsense (which I find very sad). He even has one where on the cover he is dressed up in something similar to a USSR officer uniform (funny how he talks about Obama being a Communist, yet Beck dresses up like one). He has three #1 New York Times bestsellers (I found that rather ironic myself). It's like the idiot's version of the hat-trick (both in regards to his books and the fact that he is in print, television, and radio mediums).

Yes, we are the one's telling your wife what to do with her unborn child. We are the one telling homosexuals that they can't get married if they want to. Oh wait a minute, THATS YOU! Dont tell us we are trying to control lives. The dems are trying to offer choices. You want to get married - get married. You dont- DONT. You want to have an abortion have one. If you dont, dont. You want to go on the public option go ahead. iF YOU DONT, stay with your current provider. And why in the world would car insurance be mandatory but health insurance be optional. Does this country have people that care more about the safety of their car than their lives. Every one should have insurance because no matter how young or healthy, you never know whats right around the corner. Frankly, it is extremely dangerous to live life without insurance. Just ask the millions of uninsured.

        - If you want to drive a Cadillac drive one. If you don't, don't

        - If you want to buy health insurance, buy it. If you don't, don't. (Don't come crying to us when you get sick)

        - If you want to sign a sub-prime mortgage sign it. If you don't, don't. (Don't come crying to us when you're in default)

        - If you want to join a union, join. If you don't, don't. (we'll make sure you have a 'right-to-work' even if you don't join the union)

        - If you want to plan for your retirement do so. If you don't, don't. (Don't come looking for social security)

You see...with conservatives your freedom comes with responsibility. With 'progressive' freedom there is always the implied nanny state where the consequences of your 'freedom' will then somehow become the responsibilty of the collective to bail you out with the result being the bankrupting of the people and the society as a whole. Which is EXACLTY what we are experiencing right now.

Gee, as always, on paper it looks good, but when it comes to actual practice what you write is all smoke and mirrors! In reality, conservatism the only responsibility you demand is from the oppressed. The rascists, the fascists, the fundamentalists, and the corporations can do whatever they want without fear of being held accountable as long as they continue to vote "conservative". A perfect example is your last lie where you attempt to push accountability of the conservative collective failure of lack of regulation and corporate greed onto the progressive movement for forcing you to be accountable! And as always, we do get such a pleasure whatching y'all whine and throw temper tantrums when you finally get held accountable...

When conservatives say that progressives want to "control your life" they mean that progressives want things like labels on food to let the people know what is in it, safety measures in the work place, pollution control---you know, all those horrible things that make life better for the average American.
Oh speaking of "controling other peoples lives" I do believe it is conservatives who want to tell women if they can have an abortion or not. They also want to tell gays they can't get married. They want Bible reading in the schools. They want to be able to have segregated neighborhoods. Yeah they are all about "freedom"-----NOT!

again, beck is dealing in a non reality. he's arguing against taxes in general. is there any republican that's running on a "no tax" platform?? under beck's logic, we should destroy medicare and social security. he also argues against the president, not just president obama, but an argument against the office of the president, and the entire government itself. we are a democratic republic, and we elect politicians to, oh my god, get ready for this, "make decisions" for us. there are losers in almost every political decision. when government does nothing, then the rich and powerful would benefit, so it could be argued that inaction is actually doing something to somebody. every government redistributes wealth, it's just a matter of degree.

I had a customer the other day who feels Fox News is the best and most honest News source, I asked what he thought about GB, customer said he gets excited but he is right. Then I asked about dear Sarah, he started to say good things about her as well, it was about that time I lost it and said Sarah has take woman back 10 steps, we fought hard to be respected and this woman is undermining all we fought for ( his wife agreed with me )but I realized I was waisting my breath. These people are brainwashed. Talk about control of people. It's very scary!!

These are people that I keep running into. If you don't agree with them they pass the word around that your are evil. I can't believe these people and how they can believe that these people are telling the truth. I agree with the person that these persons are brain washed. It like the People in the New Testament when Jesus came and they couldn't recognize him because they were busy keeping the Old Testament Laws. He gave the story about who was the good guy that helped the sick. They could not recognize him because he didn't fit in their picture of what they thought he should be. Through their "religion" they have been taught some of the wrong ideas.
