Because the military hates Obama. Way to spout hackneyed, inaccurate talking points, Chris. Another total fail by a man who never served a day, yet knows ALL ABOUT "our boys in uniform."

your ridiculous "fairliberal". even though i disagreed with bush, i would never say he was the enemy of the troops. your just a partisan hack that hates obama and democrats. politics is about the exchange of ideas. i have never seen you articulate or formulate an idea. you just deal in emotion and hate, and it's not productive.

Where did you get the notion that "politics is about the exchange of ideas"?

Politics is about power. Politics is about control. Politics is about conning enough people to think you will do what is in their best interest while stabbing them in the back. Politics is spending as much money as possible to pay off your supporters.

I could go on and on about how corrupt and ruthless politics are but the internet doesn't have that much capacity.

politics to me, is ideas, philosophy, and unfortunately, all of those things you listed. what i was trying to say was that politics "should" be about healthy and rigorous debate. unfortunately, your only giving the negative about politics, the side that says there's so much corruption that we might as well not vote. corporate america would like people to believe what you believe, so we would become more cynical and stop aspiring to change the lives of americans. i could say that marriage is about love, and you could say its also about jealousy, hatred, and physical violence, but that doesn't make you right and me wrong.

Well, Jurgen, it goes a little like this:

Matthews works as a focus-fractured talking head for MSNBC. Fauxliberal works as a professional troll for the Faux News Channel. MSNBC is a rival of Faux News, and is constantly (and incorrectly) being accused by rabid wingnuts of being the liberal equivalent of the Faux News Channel. Matthews is therefore incorrectly perceived by Fauxliberal as an opponent of the neoconservativism that is promoted so incessantly and so shamlessly on Faux News.

In her usual sycophantic way, Fauxliberal is just sticking up for her employer's best interests.

Do you really believe that Ratings= Truth? Or are you just so out of ideas that you just spout ancient, dead-horse cliche's without even thinking about how inane they are?

Glenn Beck's ratings on Fox are pretty good. I guess that means he's NOT a drooling lunatic carnival barker haunted by paranoid prosecutions fantasies?

Glenn Beck's punishment for having the absolutely lowest rated show in all of TV on Headline News was a high seven fgure contract to do a worse show for Fox News. Phil Donahue's reward for the highest rated show on MSNBC was cancellation for being too liberal. Clearly ratings don't matter if you're conservative.

In the third quarter of 2008, Mr. Beck’s CNN program averaged 376,000 viewers at 7 p.m. and another 487,000 viewers at 9 p.m., a record high for both hours. His program is Headline News’s second most popular behind Nancy Grace, who attracted 924,000 viewers at 8 p.m. and 559,000 viewers at 10 p.m. in the quarter.

            "Fire when Ready."

            BOOM!

"On Friday, May 4th, Glenn Beck's show was the lowest rated show in all of prime time cable news and was the 2nd lowest in all of cable news between 5pm and midnight.

In fact, The Glenn Beck show on Headline News is routinely among the lowest rated programs in primetime cable news.

            -----

Donahue was on in the same time slot as Fox’s Bill O"Reilly. But the show didn’t last long. In fact, it didn’t even last a year, even though it was MSNBC"s top-rated program. When Donahue was fired, the network moved to hire a string of right-wing hosts.

LOL you used Democracy NOW and ACHORN as your references. You cannot dispute the FACT that becks show was HLN second highest rated show. So unless HLN only had two shows Beck couldn’t of had
absolutely lowest rated show in all of TV on Headline News
. Get a friggin clue and try to use some real news sources. Your own post backed up by two sites that the US government blocks (So I cant read them) because there total garbage disputes your assertion of beck having the absolutely lowest rated show in all of TV. Am I supposed to provide you a Fox News link proving that Beck got low ratings at HLN, when Fox News has a vested interest in NOT reportring that? I"m the one who's laughing at your flailing attempts to conduct spin control.

Short of that, try these links:

                Here. Here. Here. and here.

There's just no denying it. Beck sucked at HLN and got a big contract to go to Fox. In cable TV terms, Donahue excelled at MSNBC and got fired.

Spin how is the FACT that Beck had the second highest rated show at HLN before he left. Also a FACT he set Records AT HLN in his time slot. This is not spin its cold hard FACT. Spin is using his rating number from when his show first began and trying to pass them off as a representation of his total time at HLN. But you just go right ahead and keep drinking the Cool Aid and spitting out left wing talking points.

what i meant was that matthews goes out of his way to NOT sound like a liberal (repeating cheney's "dithering" comment, saying senator mccain will "always be in his heart"), perhaps, to seem fair. but other times, he'll come off as a liberal with his praising of obama (feeling the tingle up his leg, and wanting obama to succeed). you just never know who hes rooting for. in this instance, however, it was just a stupid comment.

I imagine there are plenty of times where Olbermann wants to name Matthews, Scarborough, or some of his other MSNBC colleagues as Worst Persons in the World. But, hey, you gotta dance with the one that brung ya. MSNBC gives him a platform from which to correct conservative misinformation, and in exchange he keeps his sights off of them. Some may call that selling out, but I think it's a fair trade.

Here is a fairly good example of taking 35 seconds out of an entire segment and postulating or better yet presenting a skewed view about a person. To be fair, doesn't MMA clim all over conservatives for doing exactly this?

I watched the entire analysis on MSNBC last night and I saw and heard Matthews say this. He was merely making a comparison between how he perceived the troops and the faculty when Wolfowitz spoke there and when Obama spoke there. It was his observation that based on the demeanor of the audience, Obama was not in an "obama" country envirnonment. Perhaps there is some validity to that. Let's not pretend that the President and his advisors chose this format for no reason at all. Like it or not, this is a very serious decision which unfortunately carries serious political risk as well. I would submit that West Point is not a bastion of liberalism. The President needed to make this case in front of those who perhaps are not avid supporters. I think he did a great job. But, there is a little more to Matthews' statement here than MMA is trying to showcase. Besides, we all know that for some reason MMA has a h@rd on for Matthews anyway. for you participants here, watch his show for a solid week and you'll see he isn't the conservative monster MMA portrays him to be. In fact, he does probably the best job out of most in taking it to GOP guests. My point is that: simply based on this 35 second clip, it seems disingenious to me to conclude that Matthews is asserting that the military hates Obama or he was disappointed that he didn't act like Bush, or Matthews is plain stupid. I've met the man once at a presentation he did in Bristol, Va. He is anything but stupid, folks.

Men who spent their formative years feeding their appetites, so that now when it's necessary to engage their brain they are forced to react instead. President Bush is popular Mr. Matthews praises him, President Obama is popular Mr. Matthews praises him, Olbermann and Maddow are popular at MSNBC Chris randomly berates his "conservative" guests. He is a classic archetype a man who has never matured beyond the visceral.

I watched it, too. I found Matthews statements to be ridiculous. I don't think he's stupid at all, but I do find him offensive. His comments were not in keeping with what I heard the President say. He does that often. I don't think he's a conservative monster, I just think he's a tool.

That's fair, achris, I didn't see the comment in context, but you make a good point re: MM calling other sources on their clipping of quotes. I don't know why you got all of those thumbs down.

I've visited a few righty sites, and saw this on tv last night, and what's interesting is that many on the far right are seeing this as a "leftist" (yeah they consider Matthews a lefty) slipping up and admitting that the military is the enemy of liberals.

I posted a polite comment at one site explaining that most on the left don't consider Matthews a hero, and he's probably only considered a "leftist" to those on the far right. The response I got was that I was embarrassed at having to cover for the guy I had just said I had no great admiration for.

I do see Matthews, at least occasionally, showing some brains and perspective, at least in the world of tv infotainment news, I don't think he's stupid, but he does sometimes fall right into conservative mythology, and does seem to speak before engaging his brain at times.

I tried to listen to this after the President's speech . . . Matthews apparently was listening to a different speech than I was. He's such a tool.

I love it, the more you guys talk, the deeper the hole gets.

You so badly want to express your true inner hatred of this country and all that it stands for - and like racists at a family gathering you think that everyone agrees. But then viola, you open your trap, it comes out and you realize that your truthiness is disgusting to most Americans. You quickly try to backtrack, but the best you can do is a rather inartful, clumsy, excuse ridden "yeah, but what I meant was still correct", blundering rationalization.

      Sweet.

Hey Chris did you get a tingly fee;ing up your leg again when you heard your master Obama speaking to the cadets? Your ratings must be off the chart on the low end, keep it up so that they can give you the boot. Our Cadets at West point are not the enemy, you are.
