      Churchill, Henry V?

Why would anyone want the president to speak with a British accent?

So if re: Afghanistan, Obama had made a Churchillian "we hall fight them on the beaches/I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat," speech, the conservatives who have been attacking him on this would instead be praising him? No, they would be mocking him for being grandiose.

Exactly so. When Obama turns on the oratorical atyle, they make attacks about vapidness and teleprompters; when he offers them undeniable substance, they make attacks about being un-Churchillian. Can't win for losing...

They're just angry that with or without a teleprompter, Obama can pronounce words correctly unlike some former hero of the reich...

My favorite such moment was when some careless speechwriter inserted the word "paradigm" into one of St. Ronnie's speeches.

              Yes, he said "paradij-um."

Absolutely. They don't want a president who is correct, they want a president who is Republican.

That's my take on it as well. I have great confidence that the word "elitist" would come up once or twice, and maybe even a line about trying to manipulate public opinion while putting American soldiers in harms' way.

If Obama acted more Republican, then Hannity, Rush, and Beck would say that there was a sinister agenda behind it. They would never give him credit for doing things that they want him to do. No matter what Obama does, its always the wrong.
