I think we need sometimes poster "Jeter2" to weigh in on this one.

Well, I'd get my pom poms out for that sentiment, but I must disclose my ties as J2's agent. ;-) Besides, I believe the boy is AWOL.

Too bad in a way, julia. I've had my disagreements with him, but he was typically a lot more honest and sane than some of the right-of-center posters who show up here these days.

another comes along every twenty minutes.

Another what? Jeter? He's a nice guy and we all liked him. And he was fun. Maybe that comes along every 20 minutes for you, but we all miss him. I do. And yeah, I enjoyed flirting a tad, as I do with many here. But I had a special place for Jeter. A con with a heart is hard to come by. Okay, the dude was a bit of a hard head sometimes, ha!

Maybe someday he'll come back. I hope so. ;-)

[b"Why, what an ass am I!"[/b] I stole that from a friend, that stole it from Richard Burton.

BTW, I agree with you completely. It was a stupid joke, referring strictly to the flirting part. I like Jeter too!

Captains of the Yankees always end badly. I wouldn't want to be Jeter, and wear that hat. And boy, did you just glow, I feel sorry for him, he had to sit there with her. She is such a skunk, I wonder how he stood it?

I saw that on Countdown. Were it not for those in the media who know this stuff and discloses the truth, these conflicts of interest would never surface. That is why it is so crucial for realjournalists to not only establish creibility nut also maintain it.

            ------------story alert--------
Back in the BBS days, there was a flame war going on between two 'liberals' and two 'conservatives' over who was the 'bigot'. I posted a message "To All" that simply had a definition of the word bigot. I was quickly flamed by the 'conservatives' for 'having called them bigots'. (see To All above) The 'liberals' stayed quiet, as the flames went on, and I saved the posts that flamed me, as well as the original. After about one to two weeks, I posted a long message with the flames, and showed how I had not done any such personal attack, simply posted the definition as a To All message. The 'conservatives' quickly shut up, except for one lame message that could be paraphrased as 'but you called me a bigot'.

This led to my 'rules of correctness' #14) always take everything personally.

gretchen carlson is so annoying... she is simply an actress hired as an anchor and doesnt know her elbow from her @ss. fawning over derek jeter like that was just pathetic. dont get me wrong, i give all the credit in the world to derek for being a hell of an athlete, but carlson doesnt need to over-compliment the guy... he definitely doesnt want special treatment. he gets it enough as it is. and then not disclosing her husband being his agent is just stupid. she knows it would look weird if that was the case, and its the honest way to do things. but we all know fox news isnt honest.

Uh academic? Just because you have a piece of paper that says you have an education it does not mean that you are educated. It just means you went through a college. My father never made it past high school but he can debate with the best of them, referencing books and articles he has read over the years. I wish I was half as educated as he is...

From what I've been able to find, Gretchen's highest academic achievment is a bachelors degree. Yes, from a good college (Stanford), but she's not exactly highly degreed. Are we supposed to be awed that a national media figure has a bachelors, FL?

I guarantee that you don't, fairliberal. And, if you do, then teabagger's point has been made. You're "education" and "information" is limited only to the garbage you hear your heroes on Fox shoveling.

BTW, Ms. Carlson's academic credentials are less than stellar and have NOTHING to do with journalism. She has a "self-designed" degree in organizational behavior from Stanford. She "studied abroad" at Oxford University. No offense, but our office manager's child is currently "studying abroad" for a semester. She's a barely average student.

her academic credentials? doubtful... ive had a rough go at it in my education, but i know for a fact i am lot more knowledgeable than she is. shes as dense as a brick... she wouldnt be able to analyze politics if her life depended on it. she just repeats what she reads on the teleprompter. as a political science major, i would make her look bad. however, it would be nothing to brag about if i did... just saying.

This is real cutting edge journalism on the part of Kurtz and quite appropriate for coverage by the dweebs at MMFA. It cans be pointed to as an example of why MSNBC is going in the tank. Their prison documentaries are the most successful shows they do.

You do understand that Kurtz is on CNN, right? Why you brought MSNBC into the conversation is a little weird.

I wouldn't be talking about "cutting edge journalism" if I were you, fairliberal. You get the majority of your "news" from a network which has stated publicly that the majority of its daily programming is OPINION, not news. You might want to turn off the tube and start reading and listening to what is REALLY going on around you instead of hanging on your crush's every word.

FL, one more time . . . ratings do NOT equal quality. You are putting yourself into the category of a person who says that Survivor is a higher quality show than the Biggest Loser because Survivor has higher ratings. Very, very few people watch your hero in the overall scheme of things.

BTW, FL, you were extolling Carlson's extensive academic credentials [not so impressive, in reality] and you question Kurtz? Kurtz has his bachelors degree AND masters degree in Journalism [from Columbia School of Journalism]. His journalist cred just beat the SNOT out of Carlson's passably pretty blond on the morning show cred.

yup... about the only credentials that are worthy of mentioning about carlson was her time as a beauty pageant queen or princess, whatever she was... just like her hero, sister sarah.

people like that are so uneducated in a knowledgeable sense... im sure they have degrees and whatnot, but that doesnt mean you are smart. you worked hard to get a degree, and then all those years that you didnt do anything after college, you probably forgot it all. at that time, you just wanted the diploma and temporary recognition.

I know many people who have "studied abroad" at Oxford, FL. Not that big a deal. Many of the students at one of our local universities attend Oxford for a semester. Carlson is not an academic giant NOR is she a journalist. She is a former beauty queen who went to school on her "beauty scholarships" and says what people like you WANT her to say.

Kurtz's journalistic cred beat the snot out of Ms. Carlson's.

Yes, it was. A person on a purported "news" channel, when interviewing a man who her husband had an agent/client relationship, failed to advise her viewers of the conflict of interest. It is a news story because Fox, the purported "news" channel, is notorious for doing this sort of thing and MISLEADING their vapid, uninformed and blind followers. Ms. Carlson showed a complete lack of integrity and ethics in her failure to inform.
