Try insurance company profits and overhead - Im sure the insurance companies in india are pulling in billions for denying people care. India medical schools are actually excellent. The technology is not equivalent but the gap is not just doctors salaries and technology. iTS NOT JUST INDIA = US medical care is twice as expensive as the second more expensive in the world. England, Israel, Canada, France, Germany, every other industrialized country in the world pays less for health care than we do. And shockingly, there are no billions in profits for denying people care in other countries. There is no pre-existing conditions in other countries. There is no ridiculous premiums combined with co-pays in other countries.

I actually met a psychiatrists who graduated from an Indian medical school last week - she had over 300 patients. She was considered one of the best in the clinic.

The fact to bash a country that is considered third-world by economy standpoints is very humorous coming from a uneducated person like you.

Now to educate you Becky and little bit more here is some insite on why Americans do go to India for medical treatment:

Medical tourismis a growing sector in India. India’s medical tourism sector is expected to experience an annual growth rate of 30%, making it a Rs. 9,500-crore industry by 2015.[1] Estimates of the value of medical tourism to India go as high as $2 billion a year by 2012.
Advantages for medical tourists include reduced costs, the availability of latest medical technologies and a growing compliance on international quality standards, as well as the fact that foreigners are less likely to face a language barriers in India. The Indian government is taking steps to address infrastructure issues that hinder the country's growth in medical tourism.

Most estimates claim treatment costs in India start at around a tenth of the price of comparable treatment in America or Britain. The most popular treatments sought in India by medical tourists are alternative medicine, bone-marrow transplant, cardiac bypass, eye surgery and hip replacement. India is known in particular for heart surgery, hip resurfacing and other areas of advanced medicine.

Do a little more research and tell the truth why that woman said what she said about India. If we reform our health care system then people will not have to travel to get health care.

      SINGLE-PAYER IS THE ONLY WAY!

You want some, any, medical procedure for cheap? Go to India. You get the same quality as here for, may be 20% of what it costs here.
You want some prescription for cheap?, go to Canada.
USA has the best health care in the world. Sure if people have to pay a lot more for it but, YAY. USA, USA.

Glenn thinks "all that money" is going to hospitals and doctors?

Stroll over to the Daily Kos, Glenn, where you can see where the money is really going.

      Meet The Parasites:

      Ron Williams (Aetna) $24,300,112
      H. Edward Hanway (CIGNA) $12,236,740
      Angela Braly (WellPoint) $9,844,212
Dale Wolf (Coventry Health Care) $9,047,469
      Michael Neidorff (Centene) $8,774,483
      James Carlson (AMERIGROUP) $5,292,546
      Michael McCallister (Humana) $4,764,309
      Jay Gellert (Health Net) $4,425,355
      Richard Barasch (Universal American) $3,503,702
      Stephen Hemsley (UnitedHealth Group) $3,241,042

And those are 2008 salaries. God knows what they're pulling down this year as they scratch and claw to save their bloated paychecks from the dreaded spectre of health care reform.

And may I just say, once again, Glenn Beck is an idiot. And a xenophobe, which is a word he probably can't spell.

Compared with Beck, the Weekly World News is a fair and noble news service. If you have a beef with the Daily Kos, feel free to point to an example of them ever being as disingenuous as Beck is on a daily basis.

he doesnt care how much it costs in America because Fox pays him millions of dollars to do his show so he can afford expensive operations, the average American can't, and they will continue to go overseas to get operations because it's cheaper. I have no facts to back this up but im sure there are medical schools in India that provide education on par with Harvard. Beck has xenophobia

I think he is under the impression that the origin of man is the USA. I can understand why he is so confused about his since he is a Mormon. I wonder what he thinks about all those doctors that graduated from Harvard Medical that work in India. He has to realize that so much technology was invented outside the USA. Did he not claim that the CT Scan was invented in the USA? Sometimes I wish that red phone actually worked and he had given the number to someone fact checking him on everything. The fact of the matter is when he is called out he usually makes weird faces, flaps his arms around and makes animal noises. Somehow this is considered a strong rebuttal by right wingers.

No one can claim hat he was just asking questions in his case. It is very frustrating that a platform can exist for telling so many lies simply for the purposes of spreading hate. I hope all businesses with Indian ties boycott him. He is pure ilk. Most times you have to be restrained just to comment on anything he says. He is a bully with his only strength being he can claim to be a martyr if anyone attempts to discipline him.

He really thinks he is undisputed because he has been creeping up on people and throwing sucker punches.

Dr. - "Sorry to tell you this, but you have a really bad case of Becker-head."

Patient - "Oh my! What can be done about it?"

Dr. - "If you had Ganges, you could take Cipro. But in this case, the only thing possible is a tourniquet around the neck."

      Patient - "Is if fatal?"

Dr. - "For you, yes. For the rest of us, it will be a big relief. One less Becker-head in the world. Now, where did I put that tourniquet?"

Where is dork when Glennie needs him? Surely even he wouldn't pass this racist rant off as just joking. And India, has a cataract clinic that makes lenses and sells them on the international market. They started making them to help their patients, but then found they could sell them to the rest of the world, which helps the clinic in India stay in business. I heard about it on the NewsHour, with Fred de Sam Lazaro as the reporter.

I don't know about the dork, but I'd love to see what Bobby Jindal says about this. You know, that republican governor of Indian descent who is sometimes paraded as an example of the right's tolerance for other races. It should make for very interesting reading.

Other religions, too since Jindal is a Catholic. I love the people who tell me, "Well, you're not a Christian, you're Catholic." I remember one girl who asked if I believed in the Holy Trinity and that Jesus was the Messiah, and when I told her that Catholics had articulated the doctrine of the Holy Trinity, she just looked at me and said, "Well, I'm not telling you you're wrong, but I'm telling you that other people say different." The idiocy of that statement still makes me laugh.

OMG, I am of Indian origin and don't know where to start. I have seen morons but never one like Beck. Does he even know the religious significance of Ganges river in Hindu religion? I am offended so much by that line alone than the cheap shot he took at Indian doctors. He conveniently ignores the fact if someone in America needs an urgent heart surgery and can't afford, the options that person has are either die without a treatment or get a comparable treatment in India. Beck forgets that not every one makes $20MM per year in America and there are uninsured people in America. Precisely the point President Obama is trying to make that not everyone in America has insurance.
He also forgets that there are thousands of Drs. in America who are of Indian origin at some of the biggest hospitals in the country.

What an ignorant talk show host ! He's obviously blissfully unaware of ground realities in the US and elsewhere....India has some of the best doctors in the world, the IT hub of the world and if he thinks "flush" toilets are a novelty in India, he needs to get his head checked.. Poverty exists everywhere in the world.. the US is no stranger to this, as is evident in the huge lines of homeless people queuing up for shelter and food.. to generalize and make sweeping statements like this is very offensive.. he just is so typical of the image we have of "dumb" Americans like George W.Bush....typical red-neck ignorant creep..
