Beck's latest conspiracy theory: Government will control thermostats through smart grids and invoke one-child policy

Those failing to adhere to the "one-child" policy will be sent to FEMA camps for re=education . . .

Well, if'n y'all want to avoid letting China call the shots perhaps you should stop fighting a tax increase to pay down the debt! Or end the wars, that's just as good...

Is it true that China limits the children its citizens can have? I heard that somewhere, but I'm not sure if it's true.

It is true, but you can have more children if you choose to pay a tax, and in farming communities away for the over-populated urban areas it is not a law since you need more family members to work the land.

You come on a progressive site to troll with your Beck-worship, and you whine like a child when people have the nerve to disapprove? By the way, thumbing someone down isn't "not tolerating" them. BANNING them, like most conservative sites would do to someone expressing liberal opinions and yet this site has never done to you, would be "not tolerating" them.
And lastly, please stop calling yourself "conservative-leaning", because you've never expressed anything other than the party line. You're not "leaning", you're collapsed on your side shrieking for Rush to come pick you up.

The reason you may have received thumbs down ratings is that we've assumed you were an adult, or at least close to adulthood.

Anyone with just a casual interest in international news has heard that China has tried to limit how many children couples can have in the urban areas.

You probably didn't get the thumbs down ratings for the content but for the implication that you weren't sure if it were true.

We move closer to the plot of "Idiocracy" every day. Evolution doesn't necessarily favor the best and brightest, it only favors the people who reproduce the most, i.e. uneducated people who have no idea how birth control and reproduction in general work.

Ironically, I was watching the Discovery Channel, and there was a series on Dinosaurs. There were two successful breeding strategies:
1: Have lots of kids, leave them alone, most will die, some will live to breed.
2: Have a few kids, take care of them, most will live, and live to breed.

Like all conspiracy theories, the foundation is so bad it's hard to even listen.

Becky, your a silly, silly little girl.

Smart Grids are the only way we will become energy independent.

Becky isn't interested in becoming energy independent. He thinks the oil companies are good, philantrhopic organizations that look out for our own interests.

And while the world was in a global recession, the oil companies had record profits... and when I say record profits, I'm not just saying that they made top ten like profits, they made profits unlike any in the history of the world.

But it's all good, because the free market system says so... except for the fact that oil companies are cartels and aren't free markets.

In 100 years or so, when petroleum is scarce, how will the historians look back at this era. How will they portray those who didn't want to support alternative energies? My guess, they'll have a picture of Beck...

I agree with you drempala. During college, I wrote a paper about overpopulation and its impact on our resources. If you look at the death rate over the years, its has been decreasing because of new medicines to make us live longer. Usually you would want the birth rate to be just above the death rate to have a positive growth. But over the years the birth rate has skyrocketed way above the death rate. People need to learn responsibility when having kids. You're either going to be able to support them or your not. Don't take the easy route and give it up or abort it. But more and more women each year are having unwanted pregnancies because of carelessness. And before you say anything, I'm not throwing rape victims in that category.

If China's populations suddenly doubled, would you call that an over population Glenn?

To begin with, Mr. Beck, yes, it is possible to remotely control thermostats. The company that wrote the software says they can shave 20-30% off of utility bills, and the customer won't even notice. But, this only works for buildings connected to the grid. You've got enough money to go completely green, so I'm not sure why you're complaining. Oh, that's right. Pointless complaining is what pays the bills for you. Lucky. Otherwise you'd be working for a living.

That imitation of your wife? Not flattering.

You're arguing that we're headed for population control? As far as I can determine, that has never been proposed in this country. Not even considered as a serious option.

"Who do these people think they are, that they can tell us when we can procreate?"

I dunno, Glenn. Who has told you when you can and cannot procreate? I haven't heard anything about this, aside from China. You live in China, Glenn?
The line is 'Please, sir, may I have some more?', and it's from Oliver Twist.

So, from the sound of your rant, you're suddenly pro-choice? Going to back out of the abortion debate, and leave it up to women and their doctors? Well, at least that much we can agree on.

Maybe he meant to do an impression of his FIRST wife, the one he ran out on after she bore him a disabled child.
But given his well-documented hatred of women, it could go either way.

I tried watching, for the first time, an entire hour of this man. Can anyone explain to me the attraction for Americans? Seriously, he finds ONE editorial talking about population control and from that extracts a entire conspiracy theory that the environmental movement wants to implement a one child law. huh? During that same hour, he tried to liken the antics of the European Anarchists (who no one likes) with the general environmental movement? huh x 2? He didn't even ONCE mentioned them by name. This is what constitutes journalism in America? I'm a Canadian, so maybe I don't get the details of American politics, the nuances and games, but really.... I mean REALLY? WHO LISTENS TO THIS GUY? I could not finish the hour. It was impossible. His points were puerile, his mannerisms were juvenile and conclusions simply retarded. He takes Sophism to new levels.

He wrongly inserts a line from Oliver Twist in his rather vulgar analogy involving A Christmas Carol. Tsk tsk, Beck. One should never confuse one's Dickens.

We all have come to expect the ahistorical nonsense Beck espouses, but taking to the aliterary level, that's just wrong.

glenn loves pandering to angry people. I can picture little old ladies soaking in his every word.

That last question on surplus population is ridiculous. That question makes it sound like the government is going to kill people which there is no way our government is going to do. While I don't think a one child policy would work in the US, he can't pass off unrestricted population growth since the earth doesn't have an umlimited supply of reasources or even enough land to support the food needs of an ever growing population. An attitude like beck's will destroy this world and you know why he believes what he blieves? because he doesnt care about the future, because he wont be there.

How can this guy still be taken seriously. In practically every clip he makes a complete idiot of himself. He can't spell, he gets history wrong all the time and now it seems he doesn't even know his basic literature! Tiny tim was in A Christmas Carrol, it was Oliver Twist who asked 'Can I have some more'. At least he picked 2 books with the same author. I guess that's as much as we can expect. I can't believe that none of his production staff pick him up on these things. I can only think of 2 reasons: 1) His staff are just as dumb as him. 2) They have so little respect for their audience that they just don't care.

I don't have TV but I do watch a few clips here and there from various shows. Apparently Beck is still up to his old tricks; marrying himself into conspiracy-laden paranoia of the highest order and smuggling as much tosh and drivel in to his screed of monologues. What's interesting to me that since August of this year, his viewership has steadily hovered around 2.5M but hasn't moved an inch, except in special occasions. Why? Do these guys hit a certain demographic ceiling after awhile -- like in Beck's case 2.5M?
