It's Deja Vu all over again. Seems like I remember the Troglodytes floating a rumor that the Clintons had crack pipes or some such nonsense on their Christmas Tree.

Which is more likely... that the Obama's would put stupid crap on the White House Christmas tree, or that this guy is a f***ing liar?

I saw a clip of these ornaments. weren't they made by community groups or something?

Seems pretty All-American to me, letting individual citizens decorate ornaments, and have them on our tree without any sort of censorship.

Would Steyn prefer some sort of Ministry of Ornaments jackbooted thugs to crush any decorations not deemed politically correct by the sensitive right wing ?

Well, I went and looked at the pictures linked on another thread. They looked like paper mache collage balls. The Mao image was included with what looked like other images of Chinese culture.

I'm still waiting for confirmation that these ornaments are actually on the White House Christmas tree. The photos could have been taken anywhere.

If they are, then I retract my "liar" comment above. I'm sure he lies about other subjects daily, but maybe he's technically correct on this one.

They were made by school children from the red ball ornaments from other administrations. The schools had to represent their state in the decoration, I think. There is a great daily show clip about it.

That could easily explain it. They probably cut the pictures out of magazines.

            Another phony outrage busted.

Of course, regardless of the facts, this will be a headline on the next FOX and FRIENDS dooshfest.

        Hi Nerzog,
Since you mentioned Deja-vu with respect to smear-campaigns against the Clintons, I thought you might get a kick out of this story. Let me set it up:

Around the mid-90s I had the misfortune of finding myself at a Libertarian rally in Garden City, Michigan. Being an openly gay and life-long lefty, as well as a supporter of gun-control, I have never really felt any great attraction to the Libertarians. But I was also quite disappointed by both the Dems and the Repubs, so I wanted to see what other political groups had to offer.

The speakers at the gathering, and some very vocal members in the audience, offered some incredibly crazy conspiracies. But the most memorable one (and one which, I am NOT KIDDING you, received the most applause) was the idea that President Clinton was a Chinese spy, surgically altered to look Caucasian and sent to America to make it into a Chinese colony. I am not kidding you, that is exactly what a group of full-grown adults tried to offer as political news.

People applauded wildly when the speaker advanced this idea, as if everyone knew it, but just needed someone to say it.
I could not believe that anyone, let alone a whole auditorium full of people, could ever accept as fact such a patently looney idea. But they all embraced it with gusto, and encouraged their constituents to "educate" the country about this "fact".

My brief experience with the Libertarians was really revealing, if not quite upsetting as well. Upon reflection, I can honestly say that the event was like a less-orchestrated prelude to the riotous Tea-Parties which we see now, complete with open calls to armed rebellion, wild theories about left-leaning political figures, not-so-subtely racist scape-goating, and a palpable hatred so thick it could break one's back.

(this bit of lunacy followed others which also made Bill Clinton a British spy interestested in 'reclaiming America for the Crown'. One of the speakers also claimed that Hillary Clinton was a militant communist and former domestic terrorist... just as they did with Michelle Obama.)

Typical rancid garbage from the Rush Limbaugh Show. Cannot we get a break even at Christmas from this stuff?

There must be a fundamental problem with the name "Mark". You've got this imbecile Mark Steyn, the bald bastard Mark Levin, his occasional suck-up/fill-in/sell-out Mark Simone, and two other losers who fill in for Rush from time to time (Mark Billings and Mark Davis).

I heard Mark Simone just yesterday, filling in for one of the other nuts.A caller was supportive of the public option, and Simone asked him about portability of insurance/competition across state lines. The caller said he was ok with that.

Simone continued to ask him at least three more times why he was against competition by insurance companies across state lines. Each time , the caller repeated that he wasn't against it.

The fourth time Simone started to ask the already-answered question, the caller interrupted him to point out it had been answered. Simone accused the caller of "not listening" and told him to stop interrupting.

Mark Simone was fine when he played records on the old big-band station in New York, WNEW-AM. Since that station was sold and he morphed into a right-winger, he's impossible to listen to.....

Apparently a large percentage of Hate Radio is populated by people like this. They have no qualification other than their ability to turn on a microphone, yet they're paid to spread lies which influence public opinion in a negative way.

            They are poisoning national politics.
