Trust me, name-calling will backfire against these people. We have to keep throwing out solid facts. But the problem I see is that it isn't explained why it's the truth. Example: During all the Tenth Amendment controversy, I only heard one person mention how the Fourteenth Amendment shuts down their case. He also pointed out the relevant court cases and historical documents that show his case.
If we can get more people like me to switch sides, it's over for the GOP and their manipulations.
And if you don't get the joke, I can't explain it to you.
It's a far right psuedo movement created by Fox News and wingnut talk radio that is totally out of step with the American people. This is now the face of conservatism
All we have to do come election time is say: "Look, you want this in office? Is this what you want? Do you really want these loons to hold office?"
Is it too late to nominate Sullivan's comment for Most Ironic Comment of the Year?
As you can not reason or show facts to a cult member that they would be able to understand.
We need to have a deprogrammers come help out.
GOP=CULT
IMO
I say exactly this same thing every time I try and debate with a right-winger!
Precisely why Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, Beck, and all the others call us progressives and liberals every bad name they can think of with their shrivelled-up brains.
Comcast actually had a piece concerning MediaMatters naming Beck the mis-informer of the year.
Should see the number of comments? Most have never read MM by the way they described it so I invited them over to read, debate etc. So did others....looks like Comcast will now be the victim of an O'Reilly boycott.
The post on the right except for most of them here are disgusting. And brain-dead. Example: "I love Beck. He always tells the truth."
Of course, Socialist, Commie etc are thrown around like a tossed salad.
You know the problem is half of those people out there protesting have not did independent research on the matter. They were drawn out the smears FOX Snooze and the right-winged talk radio has put out there. Even other MSM news outlets. Note to tea partiers: Do some adequate research instead of listening to smears and lies!
An hour each of Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly? You're practically a Rhodes Scholar.
Firstly, I can see why Beck, Limbaugh, Fox News, Coulter etc., are pretty successful, I do understand a little, I mean, regardless how well a president does, people will complain, but not only that, the people mentioned above remind me of a soccer commentator in Ireland. He's not the most reliable commentator, having not been a top soccer player in his time, but he's controversial, I mean, I don't always agree on what he's saying but he says what he means and isn't always as...um...politically correct, as most commentators are, so he's popular in Ireland, sort of a love him or hate him scenario, which, from the outside which I am, is like, Beck Limbaugh etc.
Now I don't agree with most, if not all what those people say, but I do understand that, they're...boldness, maybe is the word, attracts some people who appreciate maybe their...straightforwardness, if thats the word?
But, my problem with it is, its really um...scattergun?, theres not much reasoning behind their attacks on Obama and the gov't etc., it sort of looks like, being controversial for controversials sake, which is sort of o.k, but its saddening because...well, its really unprofessional, and really, touch wood/God forbid, their controversy leads to any unfortunate circumstance, like for example, an attempt on the presidents life, then it would be for me, very depressing.
By the way, I do think you, who especially, generally like Obama, are very lucky, as, seeing as Obama is pretty likeable, it is a lot better than here in Ireland where really, it is pretty much all doom and gloom, you know, no confidence in the gov't or the opposition even, so maybe actually, thats why Obama is mostly liked in Ireland, because he's a hope, he won't make everything perfect obviously, including healthcare, but he isn't this sort of "movie villain" Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity etc., try and paint him out to be.
We will keep Obama.
Really, keep your spirits up. It cannot be that bad.
You mean that the teabaggers who call Obama Mao, Stalin, Hitler, PolPot, the Joker, etc. etc. etc., don't have another argument? Tell me something I don't know, Sully...
Teabaggers are right to be concerned about Government spending /deficits etc..but where were they the last 8 years!!!!Do they really care/understand at all about foreign policy challenges.Continued warmongering, tax cuts,no abortion,no gay rights,no immigration seem to be the answers for everything to "get back" their country...Cut taxes, wage wars, regulate nothing..the famous Bush Doctrine!!!Wasn't that successful!!!
These batty wings really don't listen to the things they say. The most minuscule logic would say "Wait! We've been calling President Obama all kinds of names so we really don't have another argument"
Oh... but the right blinded by their own hypocrisy
These teabag people have no program. These teabag people have no constructive alternatives. These teabag people demonstrate and refer to health care bills as socialism, communism, Nazism. They distrust American government. They would be much more truthful if they had signs that said "we don't like the president; we don't like Congress; and we don't like the recession." But still they're name callers par excellence.
