I don't know if Van Jones is a communist or a socialist or a any other 'ist.' This is the United States of America, and isn't it part of our freedoms to be any 'ist' that we want to be? Is this guy still fighting the Cold War?

No - it was a smear job. Van Jones is a good man and was a good man for the job.

Van Jones felt so strongly about the job that he was doing that he RESIGNED (that's right, Rightwing - he was not fired) in order to avoid being a distraction from the very real need for green jobs.

        He was smeared.

You know what, I actually had to read Jones's book for school (I went to Evergreen State, which is a left-leaning college). He may be a good guy, but his political ideals are debatable, and many would disagree with them.

It was all about politics. Jones didn't have to resign. He could have OPENLY discussed his ideals.

I don't see why this deserves a thumbs down. Unless it's for describing Evergreen State as "left-leaning." That's like saying Fred Astaire could "dance a little." ;)

It's because, if this guy went to "Evergreen State," I'm the Queen of England. He claims to have been an "English major," but when confronted with an OBVIOUS comma error in one of his sentences, he argued that it was "correct."

A hint, k1dork is from the Pacific Northwest and only appears when Glenn Beck's video clips are posted.

I would look at the previous reply:

he RESIGNED <cut> in order to avoid being a distraction from the very real need for green jobs

If he had "openly discussed his ideals it would have just fed the paranoia machine. (oh my gosh, he was a communist, he admits it)

Everyones political ideals are debateable, especially when they are running for elected office. However; Van Jones was appointed to be an advisor he was not running for office. If it was a position that needed to approved by congress then let them debate it. Otherwise Beck can call him on his credentials (does he know anything about green jobs) but; even then, it is the presidents decision, not Glenns.

SO what if the college is "left-leaning". My nephew graduated from a "right-leaning" High School in a suburb of St. Louis. He was totally brainwashed by one teacher, and it took us months to deprogram him. Enough parents complained to the State Broad of Education that the was fired before the new school year was started.

It was Modern American History. He was taught the usual right wing mantra about "Obama's going to raise taxes, Obama is a (fill in the blank. Beck smeared Jones.

Contrary to Beck's claims, Van Jones did not incite, participate in, get arrested, or spend time in prison for the LA riots. He was not even in LA when it happened. His own employer at the time said so.

Beck never brought forth any arrest records, which are public record, to back up his claim about Jones. In other words, he took a BS lie from the web, neglected to fact check it, and simply ran with it.

Beck: "here is Van Jones. This is a convicted felon, a guy who spent, I think, six months in prison after the Rodney King beating."

One problem: Jones never spent any time in prison.

That was just one of your innocent pal Beck's "revelations of Jones' political ideas" that was nothing but a bald-faced lie.

Glenn you don't want to discuss anything. You want to lie and smear and move on to the next target. If someone has an opinion that differs from yours, you just keep trashing them until they quit or you loose interest. And all those attacks on you, that you were read, weren't just over Van Jones. You are a rightwing hate monger. Admit it and go away or just go away.

Sooner or later, I firmly believe that Glenn's audience will catch on, he will slip or they will wake up, and he will be disgraced. I am not sure how he will handle the disgrace. Like everything else with him, it will be ugly. I just hope that no one, and I do mean no one, not even Glenn, gets hurt. I think the longer he goes on, the more likely someone will be hurt. I think this year will be the revelation of some plans that are even closer to treason and sedition than he has already come. He is trying to build a movement around himself or around something he controls. He wants to convince people that he is mainstream and credible because he has big ratings and book sales. So far, he has gotten away with it. Glenn is a trainwreck on his way to happening, and I have a morbidly curious streak.

What is untruthful or wrong about any of Beck's comments in this video? Nothing he says is truly demeaning or insulting or hateful. When I hear him speak and actually listen to his words I don't hear hate or racism. I hear someone who is truly worried about the direction of this country. Liberals and conservatives both should be able to unite on this issue. Nobody is happy with the corruption in government.

Start with the first sentence. Beck asks plaintively, "What happened to debate?!?"

What evidence is there that Glenn Beck has ever been interested in debate?? Does he invite people on to "debate" with, or does he throw out accusations without the accused present to defend him or herself?

He's always been about open discussions. He has people that he doesn't necessarily agree with fairly frequently. Much more often than anyone like Olbermann or Maddow.

The main point is that we should all be united against the way our government is running things. There's no need to attack guys like Beck. Beck is not a hateful man.

Are you kidding?? When was Beck's debate with "Communist" Van Jones? How about Beck's interview with "unrepentant felon" Creamer? Did we miss Beck's debates with "dangerous" Cass Sunstein, or "prostitute" Mary Landrieu?

There's page after page of evidence all over MMFA that Beck attacks progressives every single day, and that he seldom if ever confronts the accused.

No kidding, New Frontier! I'm pretty certain Bleck has NEVER hosted on his show any of the people he hurls accusations and smears toward on a daily basis. Instead, he supposedly sends them the telephone number for his cherry red Bleckphone because he's too much of a COWARD to look any of them in the eye, let alone toss his accusations in a face-to-face meeting.

Bleck is the MOST hateful person on earth, quite possibly. It's just that the clueless masses can't see through his flimsy "I'm just a dad who cares about my country (BOO HOO)" disguise. If you cared about your country, Bleck, you wouldn't be inciting VIOLENT political unrest. All he cares about is his bank account.

So that's supposed to prove he's against debate? He's constantly calling on people - to no avail - to answer the questions he's asking. He frequently brings in normal people as a guest panel to have an open discussion on certain issues. Frequently these people don't always see eye to eye with Beck. When's the last time Olbermann had someone on his program who disagreed with him?

Just how dense are you? What evidence---names, for instance---have you presented to prove Beck debates? So far: zero. Which of those accused people has Beck debated with? Answer: none of them.

Beck "Calling on people" to answer his questions and then waiting for a phone call is not "debate"---those are demands. Even a prosecutor confronts the accused. Beck obviously doesn't have the guts to do the same.

I'll grant you, Keith doesn't debate and he doesn't bring on guests that he disagrees with. He makes fun of Bill-O for doing that. Glenn isn't debating, either. He smears people and demands answers to loaded questions. The only good answer to "Are you still beating your spouse/child/pet?" is to smile and ignore the person, because no matter what you say, the questioner will twist it into something negative and damning. Glenda is a bully and a demagogue. He is not interested in debate, he is interested in making other people look bad. The White House has seen this and is ignoring him. Witness what he said yesterday on his show when he was talking about the White House correction of his use of "Czar", they didn't address other issues, so they were wrong on that. He gets his jollies by throwing poo on people and he waits for them to object, then he reems them. If they don't play along, he escalates his attacks. Glenn gives fermented poo a bad name.

What I can't wrap my head around is why Bleck is constantly warning his viewers about "revolutionaries" and "radicals" while also extolling the "founding fathers" of our country who were, by any definition, "revolutionaries" and "radicals" themselves. So, what? It's okay when they're a bunch of old, WHITE, revolutionaries and radicals, but a BLACK man with revolutionary or radical beliefs is a danger to society? Isn't Bleck's "refounders" ruse pretty revolutionary and radical? The 9/12'ers and Teabaggers are pretty "radical", too, and not in the context of "surf's up, dude", either.
