I guess hypocrisy is a small price to pay if it scores points with the base.

Well... it's not like PRINCIPLES have ever been much of a selling point for them.

Giuliani's star has really fallen after 9/11, and his failed presidential run. He's quickly become insignificant.

Anybody want to guess what the theme will be for the next GOP Presidential Convention?

It will probably look a lot like this:

Actually, one of my stronger memories of the 2008 GOP Convention was of former New York mayor Giuliani trashing big city elitism and going with the scripted Palin program that "real Americans" only lived in small towns. Eff him.

The left should really pick up the argument that the right wing and the conservatives are actually the ones weak on terrorism. They are the ones who want to completely change the way we live, they want to surveil everything, they want to deny ordinary civil rights to as many people as they can all in the name of "combatting" terrorism. In the end, are they not helping the terrorist win? The left is not really a lot better but at least many of them still support civil rights and rule-of-law.

We need to face the fact that we can never be 100% protected from terrorism and we need to be brave and vigilant? Our openess and freedom as a nation should not be seen as liabilites but need to be treated as virtues to be protected and used to protect us.

I am so tired of the right wing cowards and their cowering to the terrorist behind a militarized society.

Guiliani has flip-flopped on this issue... until he explains why he has changed his mind on this topic (other than a change in the administration), then he shouldn't open his mouth.

This discussion is nonsense. Giuliani is a hypocrite! He praised the criminal trial of Moussaoui!

I think everyone here missed the big news flash here. Giuliani talked for quite a while, and never once uttered the words 9/11.

As to the content of what he said, it's the same old hypocritical stuff from the right wing blowhards.

Talk about GOPers exploiting tragedy! Rudy has hinged his entire political career on the brave and mighty deeds he's supposed to have accomplished on 9/11. Remind me: did he do anything except walk around in a mask?
