      In all fairness to Glenn Beck, George Bush II did leave New Orleans looking a lot like Haiti. For about four years. By doing nothing. At all. 'Cause he was too busy torturing people with his buddy Cheney. And playing golf. And going on vacation. And invading other countries in some sort of futile right wing 'package' measuring competition.

      He starts off good enough talking about how the US government should provide security and support, and be a "bridge". I actually aggree with him on that point. But the idea that this country has never had corrupt leadership until the Obama Administration sounds naive. He's right when he says people will help Haiti, and as we all should know, or at least what we profess to believe is this country, the United States, is a government for the people and by the people.

      I'll step down from my pulpit now.

      The United States is not now, and never has been a banana republic. We have always had a strong history of reliable local government and political independence, which was why we ended up rebelling when England tried to tighten the leash. I think his allusions to being a banana republic are racist to their core, but I could be wrong. All the talk I have heard out of the government is for immediate emergency actions-food and water, medicine, and shelter. Their government buildings were destroyed, their government is missing a few key members, and they were already in such misery before this happened. We are talking about proping them up for a few days or weeks, until the government can fully resume running the country. Bill Clinton had been there just a few weeks ago to bring investors into Haiti to build factories and offer jobs. He is still talking to those people, even today. (PBS NewsHour)

            I don't know why you think Beck would cut Biden any slack because he's white. Beck has shown that he's pretty much against the ENTIRE Democratic Party, regardless of their race.

              I never said he would cut Biden slack. I merely said he wouldn't be making banana republic references. There is a difference. Banana republics have brown people for citizens. No, he'd hit Biden with Nazi and Fascist allegations, or drunken Irish potatohead junk, but not the banana republic stuff.

      You have to take care of that voice!!
      Here is my Moms Cure:
      Hot Toddy

      1 ounces Whiskey
      1 ounce Honey
      ounce Lemon Juice
      3 ounces Water (Hot)
      If you have a microwave, the easiest way to make this drink is to warm the honey and lemon juice for about half a minute and then to add hot water and the whiskey. Otherwise, we recommend that you stir the honey and lemon juice into extremely warm water, allow it to cool slightly, and add the whiskey.

        Place tourniquet(sic) around neck.

        Tighten to close off all air to the head.

        Continue to twist tightly until you don't feel your head cold any longer.

      Because the assumption is that because Barak Obama is a Black man either he would prefer that the country become a banana republic. Or that because he is incompetenet ( because he is Black ) that he will cause the country to become a banana republic. Come on k1dork that fact that you Righties think that Simple Sarah could hang with Barak in a debate is insult enough.

Following this historic act the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize the text of the Declaration and "to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories."

        I suppose the average beck fan doesn't really have any grasp of, or interest in, history or the actual definitions of words.

        Interesting that his response to a nation devastated by a disaster is the need for a "show of force". That sounds like spending tons of money to walk around looking tough, without actually doing anything.

        Haiti is, in some ways, an amplified version of the Republican platform. Unlimited "freedom" for a few elite families to direct most of the wealth to themselves, little public support for education, deforestation and a collapse of their agricultural economy due to lack of regulation (that is, no environmental wackos interfering with short term profits).

        If Beck wants to connect Haiti's problems to some sort of liberal or left wing root cause, he's missing the obvious; The place was probably at its economic peak when the plantations were worked by slaves. If they had some conservative leadership that could restore their country to those glory days, as the teabaggers want to do here, he might have a point.

        Apparently not since he referred to "socialist" banana republic. I may not be as smart as Glenn but I'm quite sure a banana republic is the polar opposite of a socialist country.

      He is an idiot. This man said it is socialism and oligarchy. WOW!

      Socialism and Oligarchy is too different types of terms. One is a government and the other is part of an economic organization.

      Confusing the dense mind is easy for Becky! SMH!
