It takes about 72 hours for substantial resources to get to places like this after the danger is known of. So, it took 3 days before we had much support in Indonesia.

And it was 3 days after Katrina hit before we had substantive help there either. But that's the problem. The earthquake happened suddenly, without warning. Catagory 3 Katrina struck New Orleans and the Gulf Coast 3 days after NOAA's Hurricane Center predicted that a Category 5 storm could easily have scored a direct hit on the New Orleans area.

Bush and FEMA had 3 days, 72 hours, to get ready for Katrina to hit. They could have had all kinds of support staged in safe areas away from the path of the storm, ready to move in once the storm passed. But they didn't. And so it was 3 days after the storm hit that N.O. got the help they needed.

And that's only part of the federal response to Katrina that was botched. It's a lie to say that it wasn't botched. Limbaugh's the liar.

Apparently you missed the preparations made before the storm hit. I am not surprized, you probably get your facts from the dweebs here at mmfa.

What do you think about Ray Nagin's fine job on getting folks on all those school buses he had at his disposal right there in NO. Oh that's right, he let them get destroyed, I almost forgot. And then the fools re-elected him.

Ah yes, the school buses, which we all know are perfectly equipped to carry the elderly and infirmed. Right? Right?

Just drop that myth. Gov. Blanco asked Bush to declare a Federal State of Emergency in Louisiana on August 27, Nagin called for the mandatory evacuation of New Orleans on August 28th, and the White House was informed of the levee breeches on the 29th--the day W was doing a birthday cake photo op with McCain and before traveling to California to discuss the benefits of his drug plan with a group of seniors. Bush didn't even get a task force started until the 31st.

Bush himself all but admitted he blew it when he said, "This government will learn the lessons of Hurricane Katrina. We are going to review every action and make necessary changes, so that we are better prepared."

I encourage all good Republicans to distribute bumper stickers with Rush's assertion that the federal response to Katrina wasn't botched. And let me know how that works out for you on election day.

Rush, you are trying too hard. You are become a blathering idiot. Even young kids realize that when an infrastructure is destroyed you cannot move. And Rush, why don't you drive a truck marked FOOD through the throngs of starving people and tell them to just get in line. Stick to talking and let the real carers do their job.

Rush, you didn't admit and still haven't admitted you were, are a junkie, but there is no way out of this fine mess you've gotten yourself into. You pounced on a political oppotunity like a gutter hog thinking you were cute and smart. But you aren't and you are not.

Rush, set yourself free of this stupid talk. I even know some dittoheads who disagree with your stupid statement.
      Your ego can take it.

And Rush, once again, those statements of hate and not caring have rubbed some people wrong..please be careful. We need you to help us crush the Repubs in 2010 and 2012.
Hopefully, I wish you the same fate that you wish our President, I hope you fail which will make this a better country.

"Even young kids realize that when an infrastructure is destroyed you cannot move. "

I must disagree with you on that statement, the people who claim that the relief after katrina was too slow , they don't realize it. Apparently they think that the relief assets should have been brought in before the storm , that way they would have been destroyed also.

"Rush, you didn't admit and still haven't admitted you were, are a junkie"

I was wondering ,maybe you can give me your opinion? Do you think that Rush and Obama got together while they were in Hawaii together and did some blow, to borrow Obama's term? But then I realized that Rush was not a cokehead, but it was Obama that was a cokehead. So in my opinion they probably didn't hook up.

      Everything went fine,

el Fathead wasn't injured at all. The first responders arrived promptly at his mansion in Florida and swiftly delivered him to his Country Club.

Bush didn't send immediate help to New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina. Three days later he and Karl Rove came to New Orleans, and sat on the airport tarmac in Air Force One, to negoatiate the terms of assistance...such as demanding that Gov. Blanco (D) relinquish control and authority over the Louisiana National Guard. No such demand was made by Bush and Rove to Gov. Haley Barbour (R) of neighboring Mississippi. Those are the facts...

Bush had the Coast Guard rescuing people at first light, perhaps you forgot that. Or maybe you think all those videos we saw were staged just like the moon landings.

Here is some for to ponder.

That's at the bottom of your precious article. It was modified.

          I wonder why?

I didn't fail at all, to claim that Bush didn't send help immediately is a bogus claim. I wonder why you did not comment on the Coast Guard response? You fail. And I wonder if you are claiming that no prepositioning of supplies was happening in the days before the storm. You fail again. Could the response have been better, sure. Much better in fact. But in the grand tradition of NO and the gulf coast in general, they thought they would just ride this one out too and have more hurricane parties. Nagin and Blanco were the least prepared people involved. Blanco knew it, she declined to run again and be embarrassed by a defeat, just like Dodd today.

No, the reason your argument failed is exactly as I said. Look when it was modified. 2005. Who ran FEMA in that time? The Bush Administration. Who also controlled the website. Look when it was modified. In September. Katrina hit in August. What was in the article before it was modified? We don't know. It could have said that there was INADEQUATE supplies moving into ATLANTA, not the Gulf Region. Does it now? No. Did it? Who knows.

Because your source can be argued, you fail. You presented it as empirical evidence not once, but twice. That is the same as leaning on Ann Coulter for honest debate. It doesn't work that way. Show me other sources that can't be debated as to show that they could have been falsified, as this one was, and we'll talk turkey.

Because we all know each city is responsible for its own emergency mamagement after a disaster. Duh, FEMA stands for uhhhhh Fixing Emergencies in Metropolitan Areas. After a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane there is really no need for federal help. Thanks for making that clear Rush and helping us understand history. Next we need Sean to remind us of the busses that sat without drivers because we all know school busses are part of any emergency plan and we all know who drives em and where the keys are.

I have never heard more insincerety than the right-wings excuses that he had "to wait to be invited" to help in New Orleans.

This from an administration that claimed the Executive branch has virtually unlimited power in many areas that those claims had never been made before. This same bunch turned around and claimed that this same administration could not "violate" the sovereignty of a state or municipality to rescue people at risk. This would be laughable if it were not so cruel.

right of course if was the demoncrats fault.....i mean its not like the city wasn't underwater from the gulf of mexico because of faulty levees that the military lied about being fine or anything. and its not like people didn't get displaced or get herded into the Superdome like a bunch of cattle and were given the barest of essentials and no bathrooms and then shipped out of the state without anythign other than a $500 debt card to start over with. yeah that was a top notch response
