In other words, "the stock market and economy is going to rally this year, and we want Scott Brown and the GOP, not Obama and the Democrats, to get the credit."

      Message received and understood.

They desperately need something, anything they can use to declare themselves the saviors of the economy should it bounce back in the coming year. Of course, if the markets remain stagnant should Brown win, then what tune are they going to sing?

...then what tune are they going to sing?

A medley of Sounds of Silence and Our Lips Are Sealed. It's what they do.

This is really pushing the goofy envelope, trying to pre-emptively credit the already rebounding economy to one senate race. Sometimes I don't know how these guys say this stuff without busting into laughter.

Oh yeah, they get paid lotsa money to do this with a straight face. Never mind.

... or, in simpler terms, we're Fox so we'll say and do WHATEVER IT TAKES to get the GOP elected.

Next will be something like this: "A vote for Brown means the skies will rain with beer and endless happiness!"

That's exactly what he's saying. But hasn't the stock market been rallying for about 6 months now? And haven't all the cons been saying that doesn't matter because unemployment is still high?

A Brown win will mean the sky will cry tears of joy with big rain and good crops for our people. Because the tribal elders have ruled it so. Welcome to the FOXstone biz channel. Good luck suckers.

I've noticed a theme here. I guess the new GOP talking point is that a vote for Scott Brown is good for your bank account. It is painfully obvious that Fox is a propaganda station.

Got to give credit to Fox for introducing a new trick--Bribing the Stupid! No actual cash is trading hands, but there's a sorta, kinda, maybe chance you'll have a bigger bank account if you just do what the nice Fox people tell you do to.

It's wierd to me. I remember how they said the market hated democrats. They used to say that it was going down because businesses were scared of an Obama presidency. When the market went up before his first year was completed, conservatives kept quiet about relating the market to politics. The two no longer had a correlation. Now they're back at it. Pushing stock movements as an indicator for the political climate. I am not saying that it is or isn't an indicator. I'm just wishing they would make up their minds before presenting this argument.

It should be pointed out to them that the Dow has risen almost 30% in President Obama's first year and went down by more than 20% over the course of George W. Bush's (mis)Administration. (see my post below for backup)

You mean a rally, like a 65% jump in the Dow?

...because after the collapse in 2008 the market bottomed out on March 9, 2009 with the Dow at 6459...

Since then, the market has only steadily climbed to over 10,000 and sits at roughly 10,600 today, but that ... but I guess that doesn't count as a rally.

      Fertilizes the soil?

I read that to mean more gazillion dollar bonuses for the fatcats and more and one giant sh*t sandwich for all the little people.

It reminds me of the film "Being There," when Chance the Gardener appears on a talk show and all his gardening references (like "fertilizing the soil") are mistaken for economic optimism. Life, again, imitates art much more cruelly.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index (which is cited by nearly all news organizations every day as an overall indicator of the stock market) actually went down by $2300 (more than 22%!) during the 8 years of mostly Republican led government and the George W. Bush administration. Don't tell Fox "News" that, though.

The Dow opened at $10,581.90 on Jan. 22, 2001 (the first business day) when GWB took office and opened at $8,279.63 on January 20, 2009 - President Obama's inauguration day.

Compare that to the Dow Jones Industrial Average under Bill Clinton where the Dow more than tripled itself!

The Dow has already started to rebound from Republican rule. As of 2:15p today EST when I am posting this, the Dow is at $10,715.46 - up more than 29% since President Obama took office just last January!

I would put Clinton's record up against Bush any day and it looks like Obama is slowly turning things around as well. Will you see or hear any analysis of this from conservatives? Never. They just cling to their fairy tales that the market supposedly only likes conservatives despite obvious indications to the opposite. Lol.

FBN isn't populated with the sharpest tools in the shed now are they?. Are they looking for an "incredible longer term market rally" like the one seen under BushII and the GOP ? Sure. Let's "pray" for one of those shall we wingnuts? You must have enjoyed the last 40%-60% haircut you got the last time these morons ran the show.

I just asked this in another thread,

How does one single Senator have this kind of power?

Of course, my asking this assumes that Cluster Fox gives a damn about the collective intelligence of their audience...

I mentioned the same thing above, Capt. This seems to be a "business" channel for people who have never had a job, let alone been involved in business in any broader sense.

I guess if you have an audience who can be convinced that a snowstorm in December in New England means all the scientists are wrong about global warming trends, you'll try to tell them that electing one more member to the minority party will explain everything when the market rallies.

I'd laugh, but some wingnuts in MA will be inspired to go vote for Brown by this nonsense.
