          Well, seeing as members of both houses of Congress are directly elected by the people, as delineated in the US Constitution {and as opposed to the POTUS} . . .

          Perhaps the hummingbirdbrain should take a refresher course in civics and/or government . . . public speaking might be good, too -- that might give it something to say other than mumbling "hmmm" . . .

      Yes, it wasn't a majority of votes that got Braun elected in the first place; it was the nefarious work of Obama and his ACORN hench men and women. And they were so good and sneaky at it, they got her re-elected.

      Oh, wait. The people of Illinois were unhappy with her and voted in Peter Fitzgerald, a Republican, rather than re-elect Braun.

            Last week it was mookie von zipper who was using ellipses incorrectly. Then he tried to claim that he was intentionally using them improperly, and therefore he was using them properly! I kid you not - his excuse was that he knew it was wrong, but since he KNEW it was wrong, that made it right somehow.

            "if i had misused the ellipses it would have been my fault, but they weren't, because they were used precisely as i intended to deploy them..."

          Actually, Braun was beat out after her first term by a republican. So I mean, if ACORN were so all powerful and corrupt, and buying votes left, right, and center, then how come she wasn't still in the Senate after one term?

          It's because Rush, like yourself, is dreaming up things that aren't true, and have no evidence of truth to them.

          What evidence do you have that says ACORN helped Braun at all during her Senate run, or during her election? And remember, that was in 1992.

      I mean, surely, she must have had inside help because she only won her Senate seat by 10 points after all (53% to 43%). Also, Obama was a State Senator at the time of her election to the US Senate.

      She was though, the first black person elected to the Senate, and obviously, the first black woman elected to the Senate.

        I'm an Illinois resident. As I remember it, there was great enthusiasm for her because she would be the first black woman elected to Senate. Then she got in and was an enormous disappointment. And the voters responded accordingly.

        FYI, she was the first black person from Illinois elected to the Senate, not the first black Senator overall.

      Also Illinois is known for its moderate Republicans. We don't have the typical right winged religious nutcase Republicans. They are typically pro-choice, socially conscious and believe in evolution.

        They guy who replaced her, Peter Fitzgerald, was Republican and reached out to all voters once he was elected. And true to his word, he said he was only staying for one term since he is against career politicians. Great guy. Obama followed him with the seat

          We should look up all of the republicans who signed the Gingrich "Contract with America" stating they would only serve "X" number of terms (I can't remember what it was), but I'm pretty sure most of them are still there. I know Sen. Snowe for one is well past her expiration date as it pertains to the promise she made before.
