      "...'til the day I die..."

I don't wish ill on anyone, but...

Let's hope it turns out Beck has a very short career as a progressive hunter.

Where are the people in white labcoats when you need them? This sounds like the type of situation where they're needed. They calmly walk in, emphatically lead him into a vehicle.

Seriously. I know some people like to play the moral equivalence game between, say, Fox & MSNBC, but has anyone on the "liberal network" come even close to stacking up the sheer volume of venal, uninformed ahistorical twaddle that Beck spews on any given day?

No, no they haven't, and that's the point. Almost on a nightly basis, take Maddow's show for example, you can see her debate her counterparts, and also throw in some healthy criticism of Obama when she thinks it might be needed. Probably the closest we come on our side is Olberman, and even then, he's mild mannered compared to Beck, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Savage, Levin, Coulter, Doocy, et all.

I don't think Olberman and rep Alan Grayson have helped our cause. I have mixed feelings about their tactics... on the one hand, I believe we can't abstain from distastful tactics if they are effectively being used by our opponents, but on the other hand, they emulate the worst people on Earth to make a point. You can't mention, Beck or Limbaugh to a right winger without Olberman being brought up, nor can you speak of Joe Wilson without Alan Grayson's name being mentioned... I have been critical of both men on the left, but lately I'm saying go 'all-in' and completely use their own tactics against them... But then again... I don't know... I'm just getting tired of telling people 'I'm used to it,' when my candidate loses.

Olbermann is nothing like Limbaugh and Grayson is nothing like Wilson. It's a false analogy. Just because the nutjobs need to justify their hate through false analogies is their problem.

Whether it is an apt analogy or not, there are similarities between the programs, and between the hyperbole from both congressmen... I'm about as progressive as one can get, and even I see that. Yes, Olbermann is not a bigot, or a race baiter, but the point of his show is to anger his audience, whether through outrage from the left, or indignation from the right. I can see no other goal to his 'style.'

I was saying I disagree with his tactics, not his message... and I wasn't comparing netorks... and FYI, I was expressing my own conflict of holding 'my side' to a higher standard, vs. just adopting the attack format, and beating the conservatives at their own game... After the election last night. I'm effectively bitter enough to go with Howard Dean on this one and completely leave the Republicans out of the discussion. I said in another thread that I think the White House should remove Fox from the press gaggle... Cut me some slack Mike.

I think you make some good points. The Democrats and the few truly liberal talk show hosts have been struggling for years to find an effective way to respond to the avalanche of bullsh*t coming out of FOX and Hate Radio. So far nothing has stemmed the tide.

I'd like to think that we could take the high road and shame them for their lies, but that doesn't work. Being nice to them doesn't work, and answering them in kind doesn't work, either; it just makes them more vicious. Personally, I think it's a lost cause. They have won the Media war; MMFA is one of the few remaining pockets of resistance.

Since Nazi hunters are by and large survivors of the Holocaust, Beck not only compared anyone to the left of him to Nazis AGAIN, he's comparing his experiences under Obama (which are horrible because, um, we'll get back to you) to surviving one of the most hideous atrocities ever. Neocubist painters have more perspective than this drunk.

Speaking as the grandson of a West Virginia coal miner, who worked during a time when employees were paid in company script and not currency, a man who saw friends and family members die in cave ins, explosions, from underground poison gas, a man who could only buy necessities from a company run store that inflated prices to keep their workers perpetually in debt, a man who literally escaped from that life in the dead of night risking his life avoiding the rifle armed company guards . . .

Well, you get the point. That was the way of life for countless people until Progressive reforms were enacted. I'm guessing there will be no mention of that in Van Becksing's "documentary."

So, start that hunt against all of the Progressive Vampires. I think you'll soon discover that your verbal, garlic scented, wooden stakes are no match for actual facts and history.
