You are exactly right. Read what the Bush Whitehouse said about using TARP money for the automakers:

Under normal economic conditions we would prefer that markets determine the ultimate fate of private firms. However, given the current weakened state of the U.S. economy, we will consider other options if necessary – including use of the TARP program -- to prevent a collapse of troubled automakers. --Dana Perino, Whitehouse Spokesperson
It looks like President George W. Bush (Payne's hero) was all for "betray[ing] America", too.

Yeah. The politics of division is keeping this country down. And who is the most divisive news outlet in America?

Thanks JP.I forgot to mention Mosaic to Bilbo. It's stuff like this that shines a light on the generosity of even the Arab world. This scares the right because they have this obsession with "all Arabs are terrorists".The Middle East has seen more than their fair share of destruction and yet help other's suffering.I hope all the fine "america haters" on this site tune in to LinkTv and all it has to offer.

Because they report the news and their opinion shows call FNC out on their BS? I guess I can see them contributing to divisiveness when the right-wingers get ticked at MSNBC for doing that.

Fox's Payne: Obama "betrayed America" by giving TARP money to automakers

This idiot needs to blame the greed of corporations acting like kids who gobbled up profit over the need to benefit the people. Then once they soaked their pockets and needed more allowance to spend in the candy store they ran to their parents. The government and the taxpayers. They got their money, but now they need punishment. Punishment is regulation.

In sticking with your analogy, Conservatives are saying "Look banks are no longer buying more candy than they can chew, so leave them alone". The administration says "no" & wants to limit the banks ability, in the future, to run amok in willy wonka's factory without repercussions.

I wouldn't consider it punishment, more just laying some ground rules. And who hates ground rules? Cheaters do. And when cheaters win, we all lose.

This is like being in a class an the teachers pet is asked a question.Everyone in class knows he is making an answer up,because he does not know the right answer. The teacher gives him a passing grade anyway.

It appears Bush gave $9B and Obama gave $41B. Just trying to be fair :) http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/business/companies/general_motors_corporation/index.html?scp=2&sq=GM%20and%20federal%20aid&st=Search

What's a few facts between friends? Obama did Cash for Clunkers which was probably the biggest economic boost since the crash began. And both were a tiny fraction of what banks got. But the auto industry is heavily unionized so Fox is required to hate them.

Yeaaaa americans wanted ALL the tarp money to go to wallstreet. Suuuuure! The banks have NOT payed back all the tarp - they have payed back a lot of it. And wallstreets practices specifically were the highest contributing factor to the financial collapse and great recession. If they were THAT good at looking out for the american people, they wouldnt NEED government regulation. If they actually had any sense of morality and cared about anything other than the profit margins we wouldnt have had the collapse and the government wouldn't need to intervene. But obama HAS TO intervene - yea sure he may be playing politics to improve his image right now but I DONT CARE what the reasons are. I am very glad he is taking it to wallstreet. All I have to say is ITS ABOUT TIME!!!

I hope our POTUS gets them good. They deserve it.Those that smelt it,dealt it.Obama has to show the courage of FDR and put his foot down hard. There is no real reason for America to not be a productive society. We have the brains and the brawn. The right has nothing but ideology and divisiveness.
