I'm with you, MagCynic. I mean, FNC has no complicity in this story. How could they have predicted that after hyping a guy who entered a building under false pretenses dressed in costume as a pimp to record people without consent, he would later be arrested for entering a building under false pretenses dressed in costume as a telephone worker to record people without consent? Who could have possibly foreseen that outcome?

Because if Fox News had anything to do with it, or anyone associated with them, it would look very bad for the FNC. I'm not saying they told O'Keefe to do it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they worked out some kind of deal with him to air what he obtained (either FNC or the drudge report).

I can also see the actions reflecting poorly on the Right wing as a whole. So that may be another reason why FNC would be scared and trying to bury the story. Most of the time, the Right can just shrug things off, but I'm not so sure they could shrug off an attempt at a national security breach.

I'm thinking, based upon the complete lack of mention of this very significant incident on Fox today, their lawyers have told them to keep their mouths zipped. As Beck always likes to say . . . the authorities may be trying to "connect the dots." You never know where those connected dots may lead. LOL!

I don't think they are really scared and they shouldn't be. O'Keefe embodies Fox values perfectly. Just look at one of the charges against him.
Title 18 United States Code Section 2:

            (a) Whoever commits an offense against the United States or aids, abets, counsels, commands, induces or procures its commission, is punishable as a principal.

            (b) Whoever willfully causes an act to be done which if directly performed by him or another would be an offense against the United States, is punishable as a principal.

They're on the clock at Fox News Channel right now, and they're working furiously at how to frame this story.

Truly, they're conferencing right now, and have until 6 AM EST to come up with the best possible context for this story.

They're gulping black coffee by the pint, and chain-smoking cigarettes, and will continue to do so until "Fox & Fiends [sic]" airs.

That will be the 'roll out' of whatever the long night's work has resulted in... it may only be a prototype though, until the real brain power of the day shift arrives.

But stay tuned for that "Fiends [sic]" show, examine their words closely, they'll contain whatever strategic framing it is that Fox News Channel shall use in this matter.

This has happened because Fox "News" and other Teabag outfits have his "no holds barred" approach when smearing the Obama Administration. I agree that if they had obtained whatever information from O'Keefe, however illegaly obtained, they would have happily aired it. This also applies to Beck with his hateful John Birch sermons. When someone finally goes off because Beck has told them repeatedly that the country is in imminent danger Fox will have a HUGE mess on its hands. Now watch how fast they will distance themselves from their golden boy. Will O' Rielly interview him on his show? Breitbart. Where are the rest of the ACORN videos that you threatened to bring out? These guys have been walking the legal tightrope for some time now and the GOP has been right their with them. Now Beck, watch what happens to O'Keefe. You are headed for a similar fate.

We'll see what happens here. If there is evidence they were going to tap her phones, they should all do long, hard time. I didn't have a problem with the acorn videos, but this clearly a different animal. They may have stepped oover the line and if they did they should have the book thrown at them. We need to remain a country of laws.

This is not a different animal. They entered the ACORN offices under false pretenses and illegally videotaped a couple of employees. Since Fox and Beck and Hannity patted them on the head and gave them treats for that little bit of illegal activity, they believed that it was perfectly okay for them to do the same thing at the Senator's office.

BOTH activities were illegal. O'Keefe is being sued in two states for his illegal activity and now, he faces some pretty stiff jail time and penalties for this more serious illegal activity. Why aren't Fox and Beck and Hannity praising their little pet snake now? Probably because their lawyers have been working all night trying to figure out how the hell they keep from being implicated.

As for your last statement . . . really stupid.

Nope. They entered the ACORN offices under false pretenses and illegally videotaped and recorded people in those offices. That's what they were attempting to do in Landreiu's office and they got caught. Different punishment, but same animal.

The folks who encouraged this little nitwit and his buddies share responsibility in their crimes. Breitbart has admitted that he pays O'Keefe for his "life rights" whatever the hell that means, but he is running like a rabbit from this charge. I'm thinking that the investigation will turn up some important folks who would rather not be found.

Yes, I expected one of two responses from Fox on this:

              1) Generally ignore and downplay the story.
              2) Full-throated outrage that their boy had somehow been set up.

So far it looks like they're going with #1. I wonder if O'Keefe feels like he's being abandoned by those who until so recently celebrated him.
