That's okay, Chris...milions of right wing racists remembered for you...some of whom, I am sure, pictured the President through a rifle scope.

I recall many crazed lefties calling for the death of Bush. it would seem there are crazies on both sides. But keep pulling out that race card that you libs like so much, it shows decent people what you are really made of.

I reiterate my question...in what alternate reality do you live? Come down South if you want to meet droves of racist Americans who will explicitly tell you what they would like to see happen to that <N-word> President. Ever been to backwoods Mississippi, pardner...? And guess what? They all vote...

Irony, this easy recitation of self-satisfied liberal cliches makes me question whether you've ever set foot in the "deep South." Too afraid probably of "Moonshiners" thinking you're a "Revenoor" or whatever you saw on the teevee. If you really do live there, I'm sure they're as fond of you as you are of them. Maybe you should move to a tolerant sophisticated Democratic state, like Massa -- oh, never mind, they're redneck racists too now, according to KO.

I love the way you formulate rebuttals. They seem to always consisst of justifying bad behavior by pointing to someone else's bad behavior. Is that how you teach your children? Do you teach them that it's o.k. to break the neighbors window because the kids who used to live down the street did it as well?

The fact that you cannot understand the simple context of what Matthews was saying speaks volumes about your thought process. I fear it is much to inundated with right wing radio thought processes.

BTW, the amount of direct threats against this President nearly triples those with the previous one received. Now, you tell me, how do you explain this reality?

It made me half-cringe, as well, and I knew it would get a lot of attention. For sure it's getting a lot of attention on bozo the clown's GOP talking point recycler, Newsbusters. They love Matthews and Olbermann over there.

But, as far as wanting to turn the channel, not even close. While people like Matthews might shoot off at the mouth and say strange things sometimes, I take it as just pure honesty and speaking off-the-cuff. People like O'Reilly do the same thing, but their remarks involve threatening to waterboard the speaker of the house... O'Reilly's off-the-cuff comments are dangerous, and Matthews are just comical and quite embarrassing. I love the guy for it, though.

I have also noticed, as an avid MSNBC viewer, Rachel and Ed are less off-the-cuff with what they say and get involved in more analyzing while Keith and Chris just go off on people saying whatever is on their minds. It's entertaining, but enjoyable, for a change.

Really I don't see why this is such a big deal.

Matthews did a wonderful open forum before the all black University in Texas, discussing the progress of civil rights issues. It was very interesting.

It's not fair to attack Matthews for this. Really.

Liberals grow up. You look as stupid as Republicans when you are surprised that a man who lived their civil rights, notices that no one really thought of race tongiht.

It's hugely different than last year.

      He made a correct observation.

As for the first comment on this thread, really it should be deleted. It was rude and unnecessary.

The fact that you don't see why this is such a big deal, shows your ignorance. If, no one really thought about race tonight, what was the point of Matthew's bringing race up? Is it because Obama was passionate but not aggressive? Or is because he speaks the King's English and not ebonics? Why even make a statement regarding his race?

Futhermore, your comment about Matthews' open forum at the all black University is no different than a white person being called a racist and then saying they have a black friend. It's laughable.

"It's not fair to attack Matthews for this. Really." -- Captain Liberty

Here's what Tweety has had to say in the past about Obama and race, as linked above:

Matthews: "Can Obama now win over the regular folks, white folks, against John McCain?"

Matthews: Obama "can't walk into a dinette with five or six guys there, white guys, in some cases ... He can't just shake hands and hang out"

Matthews: Does Obama "connect with regular people" or just African-Americans and college grads?

Matthews on Obama: "[T]his gets very ethnic, but the fact that he's good at basketball doesn't surprise anybody"

Let us know when its OK to start attacking Matthews . . .

Apparent friendship doesn't sound like a life long buddy to me, but that doesn't change anything. Beck will grab a little minority baby and give him a big smooch on the head on TV just to improve his ratings, so no surprise he'd try to go the route of "See? I'm not a racist, because I actually know one!".
