Even jobs created by government tax cuts are DEPENDENT on government. That's the point of the government acting to combat economic stagnation.

What the H*LL is Erickson doing on CNN?

I thought they were the enemy of all good conservatives?

Why doesn't CNN have Jane Hamsher or Digby on, too, then?

Freaking FOX has more dignified contributors than Erickson. Erickson is the guy you call when you're not cool enough for Andrew Breitbart.

Erickson's comment about schools and student loans was stupid. Schools don't give students loans for college, so whether the loans are forgiven in 20 years or paid off by Obama personally from his checking account is irrelevant. The schools get the money from the students, who have to take out loans from BANKS. Erickson is a moron.

I thought the same thing... it just shows his total lack of understanding of the facts, yet that doesn't stop him from commenting on him... it's a requirement on Fox.

I was just thinking the same thing. Does he really think students make payments directly to the SCHOOL for up to 20 years after graduation? That's insane! The school gets the money from the LENDER, before the student even begins class. Loan forgiveness has no effect on college tuition or the cost of operating a college or university. The loans are forgiven by the LENDER, which is rarely if ever the actual school itself.

Usually Erickson isn't prone to the selective memory that most right wing strategists are, but I'm glad that Martin called him out on that. You can't cherry pick and get away with it if CNN wants to remain neutral.

I hope you mean all the de-regulation that occured in the 80s that lead us to this financial meltdown.

Elizabeth Warren unveiled some eye opening findings regarding why this happened and what we need to do to stop it from ever happening again. Her recommendations are not further de-regulation.

You mean LACK of government intervention, right? Everyone (with a brain) agrees that the problem was LACK of regulation, not OVER regulation.

I'm glad he made that comment at the end about wall st. jobs. During that exchange I was thinking the same thing.

MANY jobs in one way or another DEPEND on our govt.

Example: the interstate system - tax $$ at work - construction jobs and interstate trucking clearly benefit.

The Hoover dam is another example.

I was the recipient of govt college grants. I more than paid that back in taxes due to the higher income I made for getting my degree.

Conservatards have theirs, so no one else gets anything. That's how they see the world.
